“My family’s always been in meat” – since its release in 1974, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been slashing itself into the hearts of a loyal fanbase.

Today, death metal miscreants ABORTED pay their very own tribute to this classic by releasing their new single ‘Death Cult’ – a track of intense brutality, characterized by lightning-fast guitar riffs, intricate, pummeling drum patterns and monstrous vocals. Joined by DESPISED ICON’s Alex Erian, the band offers their fans a breathtaking ride through the abyss – paired with a cinematic interpretation of the horror classic, that you can watch here:

ABORTED have not only summoned Leatherface, but a whole host of horror movie villains, ready to be unleashed on March 15th. So sit back, grab a snack, and crawl down into the Vault of Horrors – the upcoming album from the death metal veterans, and the first under the flag of Nuclear Blast.

Ten ferocious, gut-wrenching death metal slashers await you in this cabinet of horror movie classics. ABORTED invited the crème de la crème of the heavy music scene to the party, and on each track of the album you will find a different guest vocalist – ranging from Alex Erian (DESPISED ICON) to Johnny Ciardullo (CARCOSA / ANGELMAKER), Ben Duerr (SHADOW OF INTENT), Francesco Paoli (FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) and more.

AMARANTHE Release New Single ‘Re-Vision’ from Upcoming Album

Two weeks into the new year, AMARANTHE, one of Sweden’s most influential modern metal bands, kicks off 2024 with the crushing pop metal song ‘Re-Vision.’ With its electronic pulse, powerful riffs and irresistibly lethal hooks in the chorus, the song demonstrates why AMARANTHE are one of the most unique acts in modern metal.

AMARANTHE’s Olof Mörck states:
“It is time for the fourth single from The Catalyst, ‘Re-Vision’, and this time we went all in. Ponderous cyberpunk and synthwave rhythms clash with AMARANTHE’s signature sound in an equally thrilling and memorable blend, sure to act as a permanent cybernetic implant into your brain. The prodigious video, once again actualised by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus, serves as the perfect counterpoint to ‘Re-Vision’, more ambitious and explosive than any AMARANTHE video to date! As predictions from the 80’s Artificial Intelligence seem to become truer every day, we are ready to serve you a cataclysmic yet captivating foresight into the future of AMARANTHE: Re-Visioned.”

‘Re-Vision’ is the fourth single from AMARANTHE’s forthcoming album The Catalyst, that will see the light of the day on February 23rd, 2024, via Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be available digitally and in different physical formats including CD, Vinyl, a 2CD Special Edition and a band exclusive Vinyl that will come with a signed poster. Presave or preorder your format of choice here: https://amaranthe.bfan.link/the-catalyst

The Catalyst is the most conceptually coherent piece of work in AMARANTHE’s storied history. Dedicated to notions of transformation and revelation, it delves deeper than any previous album, as Olof Mörck explains.

“We’ve done these things before, but we’ve never been as theatrical as we have this time,” Mörck grins. “In fact, we all questioned whether we went too far this time, but I also figured that this band was always this way. Literally the first seconds of our first video was a big explosion! But yes, The Catalyst is more theatrical than ever. We’ve never really been symphonic or orchestral before, but this time we just thought why not? Because we can! The key to this album is that we let go of the boundaries and decided to do something even more adventurous.”

The Catalyst represents the culmination of 15 years of hard work and the breathless pursuit of a wholly original musical vision. Change is inevitable. Victory is assured.

TODAY WAS YESTERDAY Reveal New Song ‘A Louder Silence’ Ft. Alex Lifeson

Posted by tarjavirmakari on January 13, 2024

Today Was Yesterday and Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group have released a second reveal from the duo’s self-titled debut studio album coming February 23.

Lead vocalist, primary songwriter, bassist, guitarist, pianist and programmer Angelo Barbera and drummer, percussionist and programmer Ty Dennis together are TODAY WAS YESTERDAY. On this collection of recordings, Rush’s Alex Lifeson contributes performances on six songs, while The Doors’ Robby Krieger played on one. The new recording presented today features Lifeson and can be previewed here: You can listen to “A Louder Silence” featuring Alex Lifeson HERE.

Ty Dennis shares, “’A Louder Silence’ is my favorite track off the record. For me, this song is a great representation of our sound as a band. Like all great songs, this track has an impact that has the listener taking the journey with us through delicate intros, through melodic verses and powerful choruses, and it’s rounded out by an incredible, out of this world guitar performance from Alex Lifeson.” Angelo Barbera offers, “’A Louder Silence’ deals in today’s mindsets of opinion narratives over facts in politics, medical, romance, or any topic via social media. The shaping of minds to be fooled by opinion narratives and not facts; your basically saying words without saying anything that’s factual.”

They have previously revealed the lead single, “Grace.” You can watch the video HERE. The song  features guitarist Alex Lifeson, and it is a moody and imaginatively-arranged rocker that evokes 1970s prog-rock and Physical Graffiti-era Led Zeppelin. Lyrically, the song is about the fentanyl epidemic, and features some of Angelo’s most emotionally direct lyrics, including: “Swallowed addictions paid in souls/Timeless Crimes That Go Raging By.”

Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/todaywasyesterday

Tracklisting

  1. Grace (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  2. A Louder Silence (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  3. On My Own (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  4. I Take All (feat. Ed Roth)
  5. My Dog Is My God (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  6. Faceless Faraway Song (feat. Alex Lifeson)
  7. If I Fall (Silly Games) (feat. Robby Krieger)
  8. Rukus
  9. Borrowed
  10. My New Low (feat. Alex Lifeson)

The duo is on a mission to create timeless music that transcends genres and generations. The debut is an imaginative, 10-song collection of prime modern classic rock. “We come from the days when pop musicians weren’t afraid to be good players,” says LA-based Ty Dennis. “Ty and I’ve played together as sidemen for 25 years, and we’ve always wanted to work together on original music. Today Was Yesterday is a dream come true for us,” shares Chicago-based Angelo Barbera.

Today Was Yesterday writes adventurous and smart pop-rock spiritually aligned with NIN, Japan and David Sylvian, Genesis and Peter Gabriel, Tears For Fears, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, and Rush. Its first album features intricate but catchy compositions replete with thrilling virtuosic musical passages, art-rock soundscapes, and meticulous production. Lyrically and conceptually, Today Was Yesterday specialize in the type of metaphorical and poetic lyrics favored by artists such as Genesis, Peter Gabriel, and Rush.

PHILIP SAYCE Releases New Single ‘Backstabber’ from Forthcoming Album

Rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter Philip Sayce is excited to announce the release of his new single, “Backstabber,” on January 12, 2024. This track is the third single off his highly anticipated new album, The Wolves are Coming (Atomic Gemini / Forty Below Records), which will be released on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Stream “Backstabber” HERE or stream it on YouTube HERE.  Pre-order The Wolves Are Coming album HERE.

Philip gets to the point about ‘Backstabber,’ “This is a song about fake friends and a ruthless music business. I think the lyrics speak loud and clear, and the weight of the track conveys the intensity of my feelings. It is a jungle out there; watch your back. This song also speaks to my life-long journey with OCD — named one of the ten most disabling disorders by the World Health Organization — and this burden that myself, and many others live with every day.”

There has been no shortage of praise; Guitar World declared, “Philip Sayce stands on the edge of hard rock and psychedelia, slinging guitar riffs past your ears at warped speed.” Billboard Magazine has raved about Philip’s “outstanding songwriting” and “stylish rock guitar”, and Rock & Blues Muse effused, “With powerful vocals close to the edge, Sayce uses his classic Strat sound and overdriven amps to unwind a powerful tale. His guitar riffs are fastballs”, and Music News stated, “This is an all-out blast from the opening notes, massive riffs and pounding drums with Sayce’s vocals getting the full treatment.”

Produced by Philip at Station House Studio in Los Angeles, and engineered by GRAMMY award winner Mark Rains (Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings, Tanya Tucker), mixed by Brian Moncarz (Fantastic Negrito, Alice Cooper, Ian Moore), and mastered by Brian Lucey (Lizzo, The Black Keys, Michael Bublé), “Backstabber” features Michael Leasure on drums (Walter Trout, Edgar Winter), Fred Mandel (Queen, Supertramp, Elton John) on keyboards, and was written by Sayce, who also provided the guitars, bass, piano, and vocals.

ABOUT PHILIP SAYCE

Born in Wales and raised in Toronto, Canada, Philip’s love of the guitar started early. As a teen, Philip was plucked from the Toronto blues scene by the legendary Jeff Healey, who took the young guitarist under his wing and showed him the ropes, touring the world and recording as a member of Healey’s band. From 2004 to 2009, Philip toured internationally and recorded with Melissa Etheridge, including performances at The Oscars and The Grammys. He then kick-started his solo career, establishing a rabid fan base in Europe and beyond. During this period, Sayce recorded his first solo album, Peace Machine. Buoyed by guitar fans’ response to the album, Philip returned his attention to his full-time solo artist career, and subsequent releases garnered high praise in both the blues, rock, and guitar worlds. He has since released six studio albums and the Live EP, Scorched Earth: Volume 1.
