Today, Joe Bonamassa has released “Hope You Realize It (Goodbye Again),” the latest single from his forthcoming album Blues Deluxe Vol. 2. This original song, written by Bonamassa and Tom Hambridge, demonstrates the 26x Billboard chart-topper’s commitment to innovation within the blues genre. “This is a song that I wrote with Tom Hambridge, and we did a real Tower Of Power treatment on it,” Bonamassa explains. “Now, the whole thing about ‘Blues Deluxe, Vol. 2,’ we tried to keep the same ratio of covers to originals as on Blues Deluxe, Vol. 1, so we needed an upbeat song and I had this song kind of laying around for over a year. Calvin Turner wrote a killer funky horn part, and we just did like a Tower Of Power take on it and made no apologies about it. It’s just the nature of the groove and everything else – you have to tip the hat.”

Stream/Listen To The New Single

Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 is a heartfelt tribute from Bonamassa to the roots of his musical journey, breathing fresh life into classic tracks and encapsulating the blues genre’s evolution. Out October 6th via J&R Adventures, the album features two new originals, including “Hope You Realize It (Goodbye Again),” and eight new covers spanning some of the most important names in the blues – from Bobby “Blue” Bland to Albert King. Also available for pre-order is the Platinum Edition Box Set (limited to 500 units worldwide), which includes the CD and Vinyl versions for both Vol. 2 and Blues Deluxe Remastered along with exclusive items.

  • Pre-order the album from the UK and Europe from https://lnk.to/joebonamassa.
  • Pre-order the album from the USA from https://shop.jbonamassa.com/collections/blues-deluxe-vol-2.

“Part of my approach to these new recordings was that I wanted to see if I had matured musically over the years, and if I had gotten better as a player,” Bonamassa says. “I’m happy to say that I am a much better singer than I was 20 years ago – though I still don’t really consider myself to be a legit ‘singer,’ I can now carry a tune a little better than I could back then.”

“The release of “Hope You Realize It (Goodbye Again)” follows three standout singles from Blues Deluxe Vol. 2. “Twenty-Four Hour Blues,” a fiery reinterpretation of Bobby “Blue” Bland’s iconic track from the Dreamer album, boasts one of Bonamassa’s most potent vocal and guitar performances to date. The second single, “Well, I Done Got Over It,” pays tribute to Guitar Slim’s 1953 release. Introduced to Slim’s work by his father during childhood, Bonamassa was instantly captivated by his velvety voice and unique delivery. The new version fuses the styles of the Blues Breakers and Guitar Slim, creating a unique blend that Bonamassa masterfully delivers. The third single, “Lazy Poker Blues,” is a rejuvenated classic originally performed by Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, showcasing Bonamassa’s deep reverence for the titans of British blues.

Featuring Reese Wynans (keys), Calvin Turner (bass), Lamar Carter (drums), Kirk Fletcher (guitar), and Josh Smith (guitar), additional highlights from Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 include “I Want To Shout About It,” originally performed by Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters, “It’s Hard But It’s Fair” by Bobby Parker, and “Is It Safe To Go Home,” a new track written for Joe by Josh Smith. “I knew I wanted to push him really hard vocally,” Smith adds. “I’d heard him sing things just messing around or when we’d be producing for other artists that I’d never heard him do on record. So the songs were both chosen and written with that in mind. If you listen to the vocals on “Twenty-Four Hour Blues” and “Is It Safe To Go Home,” you’ll hear Joe really going for it.”

Bonamassa’s 2023 summer run included his debut appearance at Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, August 9th. The exclusive, one-night-only concert experience alongside an orchestra was recorded for his next live concert film. After finishing up the summer with two special performances featuring Styx and Don Felder, the hardest working bluesman in show business will begin his U.S. Fall Tour on October 23rd at The Cannon Center in Memphis, TN, before crisscrossing the country and capping the year at the guitar-shaped Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL on December 2nd.

Bonamassa’s spring 2024 tour will include performances in historic venues like the Count Basie Center For The Arts in Red Bank, NJ on February 23rd and the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, FL on March 7th, before culminating with Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea IX, set for March 18-24, departing from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico. The festival line-up includes Grace Potter, The Marshall Tucker Band, John Oates, Jimmy Vivino, King King, and a special performance by Black Country Communion, Bonamassa’s supergroup with Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH), Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) and Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL). KTBA at Sea is one of the largest fundraisers for Bonamassa’s Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation, aiding in its mission to promote music education by providing grants and resources to schools and musicians in need.

Cited by Guitar World as “arguably the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” Bonamassa is known for taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory throughout his wide-ranging career. His last recent full-length Time Clocks marked his most raw, rocking studio album yet, with American Songwriter sharing, “Bonamassa pushes into fresh territory while staying within a blues-based framework,” and “there is more than enough proof in this sprawling set that Bonamassa doesn’t intend to rest on his laurels or take his star status in the blues-rock genre for granted.”

WOTHROSCH Release Unnerving Video for ‘Tumor’

Greek Blackened Death Metal collective WOTHROSCH are now releasing a twisted new music video for the track ‘Tumor’, which is taken from their latest masterpiece “Odium”. The new offering was directed by the acclaimed Claudio Marino (SHINING, BEHEMOTH, TRIBULATION).

Up for the challange? Gather in masses and watch ‘Tumor’ now via the official Hammerheart Records YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/PGrYgLV5esU

WOTHROSCH comment on the video: “Drown us in the cesspit of aversion! Conceived in the sewers of Athens and incubated in the gutters of Stockholm, our newborn visual isease for “Tumor”, spawns forth today.“

A few words regarding the video by the director himself:

“When Wothrosh came back to me asking for another video, this time with lyrics featuring a tumor devouring the world my mind went to work straight away. As inspiration I Immediately came to think of the Japanese cult film Tetsuo and other body horror flicks like early Cronenberg. It was a fun shoot although the smell still haunts me.“

“Odium” was released on January 13, 2023 via Hammerheart Records and can still be ordered/listened to here: https://linktr.ee/thewothroschcollective

The cover artwork was created by SEPTICFLESH mastermind Seth Siro Anton, and further album details of “Odium” can be viewed below. The full album is available on various streaming platforms HERE.

Track-list:

  1. Child (5:33)
  2. Tumor (3:45) [WATCH VIDEO]
  3. Disease (8:13)
  4. Sinner (8:20)
  5. Purge (7:11)
  6. Odium (8:15)
  7. Mass (feat. Niklas Kvarforth) (6:11) [WATCH VIDEO]
  8. Reign (6:08)

Emerging from the gutters of Athens, Greece and inspired by extreme soundscapes, WOTHROSCH have embarked on a path to create their inmost sinister art, that explores the darkest facets of the human condition.

WOTHROSCH are a new band from the ever creative Greek scene and created something fresh and new, filled with darkness, a monster of an album that is a Sonic attack unlike you have ever heard. The artwork and the recording strongly contribute to an overall overwhelming experience when listen to “Odium”. Imagine the soundscape experience of SepticFlesh clashing into the furiosity of Anaal Nathrakh: that is what WOTHROSCH sounds like.

“Odium” means: “the state or fact of being subjected to hatred and contempt as a result of a despicable act or blameworthy circumstance”!

WOTHROSCH are not a band. They are a collective, a movement. They are an idea, a dogma. Amongst the contraries they revel. Midst the opposites they dwell. Where all is one and one is all. They are not a band. They are you. They are WOTHROSCH. Welcome to their world.

Line up:
Philip Dellas – Vocals
Nassos Defiant Stergiou – Guitars
Jon Toussas – Bass

Recorded and produced: by George Emmanuel (SepticFlesh, Rotting Christ, Lucifer’s Child) at Pentagram studio, Athens – Mix & master: George Emmanuel

WEIGHTLESS WORLD Release New Single ‘Pitch-Black Rainbow’, New Album “Sleepwalker” Out in November

Finnish melodic metal quintet WEIGHTLESS WORLD has patiently but steadily prepared the launch of their second album. Now they’re ready to announce exciting news: Sleepwalker, a successor to their debut album The End Of Beginning released in 2019, finally gets released in November 9th, 2023. The album will be released by the band on their own with a collaboration of Inverse Records and Ginger Vine Management.

At the same time the band also releases their new single Pitch-Black Rainbow which showcases the band’s calmer side after previous racier singles. ‘’Pitch-Black Rainbow is a song that is supposed to calm the vibe and give vocals more space to shine. The atmosphere, vocals and instrumentation still roll in a way that it can’t be described as a traditional ballad but for me, it’s still one of the finest pieces on the new album.’’, Kari Rannila, the drummer, gives his thoughts about the song.

The song’s origin goes back to 2021 when the guitarists Juuso Oinonen and Valtteri Viinikka with the bass player Tino Kantoluoto were at Viinikka’s cabin in Pihlajavesi and Oinonen presented the unfinished piece. According to Oinonen there was some luck involved with the making of the song since the piece was almost ditched by him. However, after presenting the piece ‘close to nature’ it got some wind under its wings and became alive.

Described by Viinikka, ‘the plainness and a feel of space’ was a favorable thing for creating more layers and also getting the vocals in front. And at the end, the producer and mixer Tuomas Kokko provided the final touch as a slight surprise. ‘’The rhythmic sound of a bell heard in verses was a gift from him that after a while of accustoming became a natural part of the song’’, tells Viinikka

As for the lyrics, the vocalist Perttu Korhonen used experiences from his past and struggles involved in mental growth. ‘’It’s a song about my last existential crisis. The moment was brief but also intensive enough to leave a mark for years and implementing that feeling for this song felt so natural and didn’t take too long.’’, says Korhonen.

HOWLING GIANT Premiere New Album Single & Music Video ‘Aluminum Crown’

Nashville, Tennessee cosmic stoner metal trio HOWLING GIANT has shared a music video for their new single “Aluminum Crown”, taken from the band’s sophomore full-length “Glass Future”, which is scheduled for a release on October 27, 2023 via Magnetic Eye Records. The pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

Says bassist Sebastian Baltes about the new single:“We were approached by Magnetic Eye Records to write a song for a Mark Lanegan collaboration record a couple years ago, but unfortunately before the record was finished, Mark passed away. Aluminum Crown was one of the songs we wrote for Mark, so we wanted to include it on our album as tribute to one of the most important and beloved songwriters of the American underground.”

Every song on HOWLING GIANT‘s sophomore album “Glass Future” tells its own story. Yet even without an overarching concept, all could exist within the same universe. Such crafty lyrical world-building is hardly surprising coming from a trio of enthusiastic fantasy and science fiction aficionados. “Glass Future” downright asks to inspire a book or graphic novel, even as it explodes with furious energy and thunderous acrobatics.

Musically, “Glass Future” offers a continuation and evolution of all the elements that made the debut album “The Space Between Worlds” (2019) such a success. HOWLING GIANT entice classic metal and hard rock to interact dynamically with spacy, prog-infused passages, desert and psychedelic metal moments, rock organs, catchy hooks, and top everything off with soaring harmonized vocals.

Tracklist

  1. Hourglass
  2. Siren Song
  3. Aluminium Crown
  4. In a Hurricane
  5. First Blood of Melchor
  6. Glass Future
  7. Tempest, and the Liar’s Gateway
  8. Sunken City
  9. Juggernaut
  10. There’s Time Now

HOWLING GIANT hail from one of the most legendary places for music on earth: Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Despite the city’s reputation for assembly-line pop country, the town called Music City is a place of deep history, where brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players keep dozens of musical legacies burning bright. Fertile ground, then, for a preeminent fuzz-psych power trio who consciously live in the pocket of that lineage.

Following a trilogy of EPs, “Howling Giant” (2015), “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 1” (2016), and “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” (2017), HOWLING GIANT delivered their debut full-length “The Space between Worlds” in 2019, which to the delight of their rapidly growing following and critics alike more than fulfilled the promise of the early releases.

To bridge the time until their new album, the trio released the “Masamune & Muramasa” split with Sergeant Thunderhoof in 2020 and the “Alteration” EP in 2021, the first releases with bassist Sebastian Baltes, the son of German metal legends ACCEPT’s former bass player Peter Baltes, fully integrated into the band as a co-writer.

HOWLING GIANT take a gargantuan leap forward with “Glass Future” that brings their outstanding musicianship and golden-throated triple vocal attack fully into stride. Nothing to do but try to keep up and enjoy the stunning sonic scenery along the way!

HELGA Sign to Season of Mist, Debut Album Coming

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 8, 2023

Season of Mist is proud to welcome HELGA!

Hailing from both the Swedish hinterlands of Dalarna and the old Viking county of North Yorkshire, HELGA draw on many different influences: Swedish folk, progressive metal, post-rock, pop, black metal.

United by vocalist Helga Gabriel, the band spin their unique genre alchemy into dark manifestations. Their debut album, ‘Wrapped in Mist’, summons formidable drumming, spectral strings and chugging riffs into lamentations on mortality and mental health.

“A few years ago, I sent a demo to Season of Mist but to no avail”, says Helga. “Years later, I received an e-mail from Michael Berberian expressing that the label wished to work with me – I felt elated! My band and I are beyond thrilled to plunge into this new adventure with Season of Mist”.

Another announcement about ‘Wrapped in Mist’ is coming soon!

Hailing from the Swedish hinterlands of Dalarna and Halifax, West Yorkshire, HELGA amalgamated in 2019 in York, North Yorkshire. United by singer, Helga Gabriel, the quintet delve into a musical alchemy on their pursuit of darker manifestations.

“We draw on many different influences from Swedish folk to progressive metal to post-rock to black metal to pop. Distilling this into a single style is a challenge.” -Cai S.

Summoning this plethora of layers and genre, HELGA culminate their premier album Wrapped in Mist into
dirgeful lamentations of mortality and mental health, punctuated by formidable drumming, spectral strings and chugging riffs.

The album’s opening track, Skogen mumlar (The Forest Murmurs), transcends forthwith into emotive dreamscapes that leave hairs trembling, Ennio Morricone echoing as the intro’s muse.

But as the journey through Wrapped in Mist transpires, songs such as Farväl (Farewell) reveal HELGA’s black metal and darker sensibilities. Bewitching through this myriad range, the album’s waltzing coda flirts
with a melodic baroque that crescendos with Opeth-esque climax.

The inception of Wrapped in Mist promises to plunge HELGA deep into the spotlight of mesmerising live
performances following release. From the hills and forests of rural dwelling, this is a band destined for a journey worth following.

Are you ready to rock? Do you want a good time? Do you want to get high?

If the answer to any of those questions is yes (and it really should be), then the undisputed kings of balls-out rock’n’roll are back to provide maximum satisfaction! An elite, three-man squad, dedicated to the noble art of riffs, melodies and life-affirming rock anthems, DANKO JONES are ready to serve up all the Electric Sounds you could possibly need!

Only one week to go until DANKO JONES will release their hotly-anticipated, eleventh studio album! The trio’s forthcoming banger, Electric Sounds, will be out on September 15, 2023 via AFM Records and promises to have the instant sound and feel of a classic. Pre-order your copy of this must-have DANKO JONES album – and one that belongs into every well-sorted rock record collection – HERE!

After topping the radio charts with “Guess Who’s Back”, their current infectious single “Good Time” just started climbing the radio charts quickly. Now, the band has shared a hilarious music video for new single “Get High?”, featuring Damian Abraham of Fucked Up!

“With the legalization of marijuana, it was inevitable a song like “Get High?” would be birthed.” Says charismatic frontman Danko about the band’s new single. “I just didn’t know it would be our band that penned the anthem for potheads everywhere. Damian Abraham of Fucked Up even joins us to answer my question – Do You Wanna Get High? His answer is “yes”.”

Get the song on all digital services HERE!

Formed in Toronto in 1996, DANKO JONES have seen and done just about everything over the last quarter of a century. Powered by a DIY punk rock spirit, and inspired by the good, great and grotesque of electrified rock ‘n’ roll, they have steadily built a colossal international fan base and become one of the most acclaimed live bands around, embraced by everyone from mainstream radio-rock fans to diehard metalheads. Along the way, they have released ten widely praised studio albums, generating a peerless repertoire of fists-in-the-air crowd-pleasers into the bargain.

Armed with yet another stone cold classic, DANKO JONES are on a renewed mission to rock the living shit-lights out of anyone and everyone that wants to join the party. After 27 years of active service, the trio’s commitment and intensity continues to grow, and their popularity and prominence continues to follow an upward route.

From the chest-out chutzpah of the opening “Guess Who’s Back” and the muscular new wave strut of “Good Time”, to the title track’s promise to “smash a thousand guitars tonight!” or the new pothead’s anthem “Get High?”,  Electric Sounds is a deceptively diverse affair. Meanwhile, no band has ever sounded more ready to hit the road (find all live dates listed below!) than the pumped-up threesome showcased on its hell-for-leather, new rager. Electric Sounds was produced by Eric Ratz, and guest spots from Tyler Stewart (Barenaked Ladies) on “She’s My Baby”, Damian Abraham of Fucked Up on “Get High?” and guitarist Daniel Dekay (from Canadian thrash legends Exciter) on “Electric Sounds” complete the picture with a snotty flourish.
