DRUNKEN SWALLOWS release “Himmelblau”, the third single of the upcoming studio album “Im Namen Des Wahnsinns” which will be released on 19 April on Metalville Records.

With “Himmelblau”  the four punk rockers show their more reflective side. The whole world is changing, mostly in a negative way, it seems to be in ruins. Where is the place where freedom is here and endless? Above the clouds, far away from all the human evil, where you learn to fly again because you have forgotten how to do it on the ground.

Drunken Swallows are back on the road with their sixth output “Im Namen des Wahnsinns”, which marks the band’s 15th anniversary.

The musicians present themselves with their now typical sound. Catchy guitar riffs, sing-along songs and lyrically a cross-section of life with all its facets.

The development of the Swallows especially after the change of bass player, is enormous. The band themselves announced their aim to return a little to their bloody beginnings. And they have succeeded very well. The mix of modern melodies and the dirt of the garage suits the four northern lights perfectly and is absolutely authentic. Many choruses that burn themselves into the listener’s head on the first listen, crisp riffs and everyone can find themselves thematically on this album. But there are also gentle, serious, calm melodies in the form of ballads on the new album. Swallow’s atypical instruments have been used here, and this is more than worth listening to.

Goosebumps, a thirst for beer, fun and the necessary seriousness in times when it was certainly not always easy to write a punk rock album. The Schwalben did it 100% like this. As they once said themselves: weird times need weird birds. True, when you hear how life plays out in the name of madness.

A punk rock album that really must have its place on every shelf! And because Drunken Swallows are definitely a live band, the upcoming concerts will be more than worth a visit.

PHANTASMAL ABYSS Premiere ‘The Spawn of Lycaon’ Single

“The Spawn of Lycaon” is the savage new single from Oakland, California-based blackened thrash metal crew PHANTASMAL ABYSS. The song is now premiering exclusively at No Clean Singing. Stream it HERE.

Born from the simmering cauldron of Oakland, California’s death metal scene, PHANTASMAL ABYSS was started by guitarist and front woman Dara Santhai (ex-Serpent Crown, Larvae) and drummer Todd Wilkinson. Pulling from their shared interest in all things extreme metal, they blend a lethal dose of blackened thrash, melodic-death, and the occasional foray into black ‘n roll.

Dara Santhai‘s otherworldly vocals call from the dark like a banshee roaming an abandoned abbey, while Wilkinson’s pummeling beats provide the barbaric foundation for Santhai‘s brutal riffage and scathing leads.

Far from being a band who sits on their collective asses, PHANTASMAL ABYSS spent the pandemic honing their venomous first strike, the aptly titled “Visions of the Abyss” which features Andrew O’Neil (Mondo Drag) on bass. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Greg Wilkinson in the legendary Earhammer Studios, “Visions of the Abyss” is six tracks of searing extreme metal inspired by retro horror, chilling Lovecraftian myth, and grisly true crime.

Considering their relatively short time together, PHANTASMAL ABYSS has already shared the stage with some of the underground’s leading up and coming bands: Wayfarer, Bewitcher, Nite, Death Cave, and Yatra to name a few, while simultaneously executing their first DIY west coast tour in the spring of 2022.

In 2023 PHANTASMAL ABYSS was joined by Rafael Martinez (Black Cobra, 16, Acid King) on bass as they went on the road to support the physical release of their album “Visions from Abyss”.

The band has recently recorded the single “The Spawn of Lycaon”, which was mostly self recorded, with some help from recording engineer Scot Proctor, and mastered again at Earhammer. This recording captures a more raw and live sound of the band.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered at the prestigious Vyrah Studios under the expert guidance of Michael Streckbein, “Breakcore Beats” is a whirlwind of intensity and innovation, delivering a relentless fusion of melodic death grind.

“Many bands write really good biographies, we prefer to write really good songs.” Says the band. And indeed, their music speaks volumes, transcending language barriers and connecting with audiences on a primal level.

The band has only been around for a year or two. However, it’s worth looking at their history to understand who they are and what makes their music unique.

The journey started in 2019 as a vague concept brewing in a cozy corner bar in Essen, accompanied by the refreshing taste of Stauder beer. That rainy spring evening brought together three young men, each boasting decades of musical expertise. Sunshine’s roots trace back to the early 1990s when some of its members, along with their previous band, secured their first record deal with the German label, “Alveran Records,” making a name for themselves in the underground scene. Over the years, various members of Sunshine and their bands landed contracts with well-known industry names and toured Europe with acts like As I Lay Dying, Heaven Shall Burn, Napalm Death, and Burry Tomorrow.

From the remnants of these underground bands emerged something new and exciting. After just a few jam sessions, it became evident that Sunshine was on the brink of creating something extraordinary. However, the pandemic-induced slowdowns delayed Sunshine’s full realization until 2022. From the beginning, Sunshine has been all about honest and uncompromising melodic death grind. Their sound is a vibrant amalgamation of diverse subgenres, infused with hardcore and punk influences, evident in their music’s dynamic range. Whether intricate and harmonious or raw and aggressive, Sunshine’s songs always reflect the emotions that shape their identity.

Live Report: THE 69 EYES at Basement East, Nashville, Tennessee – March 31, 2024

Finnish goth rockers, The 69 Eyes, brought their show to Nashville Tennessee for the second time in history on 3/31/24. Although Nashville is dubbed the Music City, one would not expect to find the Finnish rockers here. Nonetheless, they were, and the fans loved it.

The band was born out of the love for goth, punk, and glam music back in 1989. Lead vocalist Jyrki once said that the band name itself was symbolic of “A strange and dark union between Elvis and Elvira”. A mixture of vampires and rock ‘n roll, The 69 Eyes have been rocking fans for 35 years, and there is no sign of slowing down in sight.

Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel began to play through the speakers and the anticipation of the band coming out was evident on the crowds’ faces. The band emerged onto the stage to immediate applause, and their first song of the night, Devils, was served to the masses as the first dose of goth infused rock n roll. A staple in their set, Feel Berlin, followed up and set the tone for the night as fans danced with horns held high.

Songs such as Blach Orchid, Death and Darkness, Never Say Die, and Wasting the Dawn kept the crowd smiling and hungry for even more as the euphoria of The 69 Eyes music permeated the venue. I love the Darkness in You was playing and Alice Cooper/Beasto Blanco bassist, Chuck Garric was seen in the crowd with intense concentration as the song played. It is known that Garric is a fan of The 69 Eyes.

The night ended as most do with the band, their anthem Lost Boys, gave a hard rocking farewell until next time to Nashville. The band is still on tour and set to play on till April 13, 2024, when the tour ends in Clifton New Jersey.
