The track comes off the band’s first full-length in over a decade. “The Season Came Undone” is due out September 22nd 2023 via Ardua Music.

The lyric video of the album’s first single, “November”, is available HERE.

Tracklist:

1. Everything Goes to Waste
2. My Mausoleum
3. Fallacy
4. Like Fallen Rain
5. Oh, Fall
6. Dying of the Light
7. Like Something Almost Being Said (Instrumental)
8. November
9. Life Will Be the Death of Me (2023 Remaster)

After two successful releases, “Broken Leaf” (2009, Solitude Productions) and “Sorrow” (2015), the band have honed their underground roots into a more accessible sound with an emphasis on concise songwriting and memorable melodies.

The upcoming new album “The Season Came Undone” (nine tracks, 51 minutes) reflects the band’s ambition to reach a wider audience without giving up their doom/death heritage. With unique vocal harmonies, soaring leads, a pounding rhythm section and thoughtful lyrics, MY LAMENT has matured into a forward-thinking foursome that doesn’t sound quite like any other band.

Watch for more singles and news on other upcoming MY LAMENT activities to be posted shortly.

Biography:

MY LAMENT
is a doom/death metal band from Antwerp, Belgium. Since its genesis in 2002, the core line-up has remained the same: founding members Steph (bass) and Vincent (drums), soon joined by Paul on guitar. Additional guitars, synths and vocals were supplied by various members throughout the years, with a debut demo titled “Beneath the Hidden” coming out in 2006. Full-length album “Broken Leaf” was released to critical acclaim in 2009 on the Russian doom metal label Solitude Productions.

Always looking beyond the confines of metal, MY LAMENT was chosen to be part of “Heaven and Hell” (2010), an ambitious contemporary music production inspired by the poetry of William Blake, alongside classically trained musicians, singers, composers and scenographers. Some of these concerts saw Robrecht filling in on guitar, who eventually joined as a permanent member.

MY LAMENT
hired vocalist Xavier to incorporate melodic singing as well as death metal grunts on “Sorrow” (2015). However, for the following tour in Germany and the Czech Republic, they decided to continue as a four-piece band, with Robrecht combining vocals and guitar.

Invigorated by new influences and a stable line-up, the band has since honed their underground roots into a more accessible sound with an emphasis on concise songwriting and memorable melodies. This new direction became evident in the single “Life Will Be the Death of Me”, released with a self-produced 360-degree video in 2018.

Line-up:

Steph – bass
Vincent – drums
Paul – guitars
Robrecht – vocals & guitars

Legendary Drummer ERLAND DAHLEN Reveal “Racoons” Album Details + Single ‘Foggy’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 26, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ERLAND DAHLEN. Leave a comment

Having played on more than 300 albums with a wide range of artists from different genres, and with four solo albums to his name, drummer ERLAND DAHLEN is set to release his fifth studio album “Racoons” on Is It Jazz? Records on the 27th October.

Obviously, being so much in demand on such a wide variety of collaborations and sessions, it is clear that Dahlen is an artist with considerable skills, who is sensitive to the requirements of other musicians, and who is well able to adapt those skills to whatever the music requires. However,  he is also a renowned solo artist with his own creative ideas, and who, by using  a multitude of percussive instruments, is able to create a massive, intricately layered sound, that is all his own.

Over the years, Dahlen had accumulated so many musical ideas that didn’t fit in with any other projects, and he grew to realise that he needed a project that would allow him to record and play live for himself.

Originally the plan had been to release just one solo album, 2012’s “Rolling Bomber”.  However,  since then this solo work has grown in importance for Dahlen, so much so, in fact, that for  “Racoons” he actually made and used a lot of unique instruments, as he explains:

I play a lot of custom-made instruments here.   Lars Hurlen has built different log drums for the album, and Harald Hougaard has built a custom-made zither bass. I also use custom-made chromatic blossom bells, and different metal items, such as huge serving plates.

Those eager to find out the kind of sound that these create ahead of the full-album release, can do so with the track “Foggy”, which can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of services at THIS LOCATION.

Dahlen had this to say about the track:

“Foggy” starts off with a drum groove that moves across a drum machine beat. The idea was to let the groove evolve and gradually add more elements in a repetitive drone-like landscape.

“Racoons”  was recorded with Bjarte Stensli in March 2023 at the Rainbow Studio in Oslo, with additional recording and mix by  Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard W. Hagen from Xploding Plastix.

With cover art by Tom Korsvold, tracklisting on “Racoons” is as follows:

  1. Sun Pt. 1
  2. Stride
  3. Auto
  4. Slow
  5. Mud
  6. Foggy
  7. Sun Pt. 2

“Racoons” will be available in CD, Digital and LP formats, and can now be pre-ordered from:

Bandcamp: https://erlanddahlen.bandcamp.com/album/racoons
Webshop: https://isitjazzrecords.no/shop/

Dahlen has received numerous industry awards for the albums on which he has appeared, including 13 Spelleman Awards, having been nominated an extraordinary total of 38 times.   He  can also be found behind the drumkit of a number of Norwegian and International film scores.

Some of the artists with whom he has played, either live or in the studio, include Norwegian Jazz legends such as NILS PETTER MOLVÆR, EIVIND AARSET, STIAN WESTERHUS and GEIR SUNDSTØL, together with bands and artists such as MADRUGADA, KAADA, JOHN PAUL JONES, ANE BRUN, ANNELI DRECKER, MARIT LARSEN and XPLODING PLASTIX, along with a host of others!

DÉCEMBRE NOIR Release First Single ‘Against The Daylight’ from Upcoming Album

Against The Daylight is the first single from the new DÉCEMBRE NOIR album Your Sunset | My Sunrise, which is set to be released on October 13th via Lifeforce Records.

The lyric video was created by Jerkka Perälä / Soft Neon Audiovisual, who is also responsible for the visual works for his own band ATLASES, also in Lifeforce Records.

AGAINST THE DAYLIGHT on all digital platforms

As for the direction of their new album, DÉCEMBRE NOIR reveal the following: “Your Sunset | My Sunrise” is the cry for inner peace set to music. A heavy heart full of tears, which threatens to plunge its bearer into the abyss at any moment. Even if this means giving up oneself, in the end only the long-awaited silence counts. It is the escape on the wings of addiction from the battlefield of never-ending depression.

The approach of the band from Thuringia, Germany also reaches deep on their fifth full-time album – both lyrically and musically. This is already known from the previous records “The Renaissance Of Hope” (2020), “Autumn Kings” (2018), “Forsaken Earth” (2016) and “A Discouraged Believer” (2014). DÉCEMBRE NOIR act consistently atmospheric, gloomily tuned and open to interpretation. The underlying thoughts, emotions and intentions of the songs of the quintet are not always clearly determinable. And they don’t have to be. For the nuances and forebodings set to music have a special significance in the German band’s playing.

What once started between doom and death metal, has developed over the years and releases to an independent, organic gloomy sound, which achieves its ominous effect space and its captivating fascination quite independently of liking or style questions. On “Your Sunset | My Sunrise”, produced by HEAVEN SHALL BURN’s Alexander Dietz at his Chemical Burn Studio, DÉCEMBRE NOIR again rely on melancholic as well as melodically addressed pieces that stand completely on their own and therefore captivate because they are presented so heavy, dark and atmospheric.

KARPATHIAN RELICT (Ukraine/Poland, based in Sanok, PL) was formed as Orthodox in 2006 by Bogdan Lewicki and Andrzej Czujko. Under that name “Forever Not Yet” was recorded in 2009 – and later released in early 2011. After 2 years of stagnation, where Bogdan and Andrzej moved to Poland – Orthodox was reformed in 2013 as KARPATHIAN RELICT with Patryk Olbert (bass) and Adrian Mięsowicz (vocals). Later, they released “Beyond The Over” (2017) and re-released “Forever Not Yet” (2018). In the next few years – their journey continues – creating new music, and playing with several amazing musicians – to finally settle down with Bartek Oleniacz as a guitarist, and later on with Mateusz Baczek on a bass position.

Right now, band is preparing to release new studio album titled “Never Be After“. Third album will be released on September 9, 2023 via MusikÖ_Eye and Metal Exhumator as digital and CD. Pre-order here.

The album will contain 8 tracks in which the mainstream is our preferred style of death metal music. In th song “The Moth”, as a guest Eliza Kuźnik (KSU) plays on violin.

Drums were recorded by Piotr “Koła” Dorotniak at Stodoła Studio (Poland). Music was mixed and mastered by Adrian Mięsowicz (Tribe Five Studio) who was responsible for sound on live show recorded for 44th anniversary (BluRay 4K) of the oldest Polish punk rock band KSU. Cover artwork and layout by Michał “Xaay” Loranc (God Dethroned, Kamelot, Nile).

Tracklist:

  1. The Moth
  2. Bury In The Past
  3. Closed Book
  4. Silent Water Pt. I
  5. Silent Waters Pt. II
  6. Жach
  7. My Anthem
  8. The Masochist

Band commentary: “There will be admixtures of technical death metal and progressive music. In a few places, there will also be instrumental interludes on instruments not often found in extreme music, but we will not reveal the exact details. We hope that the listeners will also share our excitement and together we will make it to the publication of all tracks.

The new album is a reflection of what we like to listen to ourselves, and since each of us has completely different tastes, we tried to combine it in some way. We hope that the new album will give listeners a lot of fun discovering what is recorded on it and will make them want to come back to it again and again and again and each time it will be a new experience in communing with our music and new discoveries.”

KARPATHIAN RELICT have released video to the song “The Masochist“, watch it out below.
