Chicago Death Metal veterans DISINTER have released their new official video for the track “Demolition of the Mind” taken from the compilation album “Demolition“, out via Pest Records last year. Watch “Demolition of the Mind” below.
The song itself is about brutal headaches, which guitarist Mike LeGros has suffered through life with, which what seems like forever. He has been a chronic sufferer of intense tremendous painful muscle tension, and stress headaches, around the shoulder neck and skull areas from years of repetitive motion due to work. “And from banging my fuckin head and thrashin my brains out for the last 40 years” 😛 says Mike…
So the sufferer is approached by Dr. Misery, and the good Doctor renders the sufferer immobile. This all takes place in an abandoned medical facility. The steel death bed lies waiting for the sufferer, where the the pain is distributed. One blow at a time, pummeling, unrelenting, uncaring! Demolish the mind, destroy the will to live! Misery will not stop till the last and final blow is dealt out to the sufferer. Crowning his carnage with barbed wire, crowned in misery, on the table of torture, bleeding, dying, gasping, begging… to die.
“We had a blast making our first official music video, splicing band performances filmed in our rehearsal room, with footage of a scene filmed at an abandoned medical facility in the downtown medical district of Chicago. The scene depicts the sufferer being dragged into an operating room, by Dr Misery, whose prescription is torture pain and suffering. While the band band pummels and rages through the song, going from darkened room to a white, blinding light, pain immersed blood drenched frenzy. The pain and suffering is administered to the the sufferer by the doctor of dread!” says Mike Le Gros.

STARLITE & CAMPBELL were very saddened to hear of the death of Gordon Lightfoot.
A couple of years ago we came across a video of Gordon singing on the steps of his home celebrating Canada Day. He stood so strong and and at the same time so fragile, his voice beautifully broken and intense. One of the songs he sang in the short set was If You Could Read my Mind – we cried!
In early 2022 we decided to play If You Could Read My Mind on one of our Live Streams and recorded the track with humility and love planning to release the song in July 2023.
We celebrate the life and music of Gordon Lightfoot and have released If You Could Read My Mind today, as our loving tribute to this unique, enigmatic and thoughtful troubadour.
We hope you enjoy it and send love and good vibes to his family and friends.

Dutch progressive-rock artist EDWARD REEKERS will be releasing his first solo album in 15 Years! The Liberty Project will be released on 4 August via Music Theories Recordings/Mascot Label Group and features contributions from Steve Hackett (Genesis), Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Damian Wilson (Threshold), John’ Jaycee’ Cuijpers (Praying Mantis), Koen Herfst (Vandenberg), Cindy Oudshoorn (Kayak) and more. Listen to new song “The Present Day,” below.
Is it a rock opera, a musical, or a concept album? It’s all three wrapped up in a double album extravaganza. So, what’s it all about? Imagine there had been a second Big Bang. Would that have altered our evolution or even created a parallel world? And if so, what would that world look like? Who would be its inhabitants?
Reekers says, “I wanted to create a story within a story, so I introduced the characters, Thomas and Catherine, falling in love, splitting up and finding their way back together. With a society in turmoil around them where politicians, bankers, and journalists, amongst others, comment on the situation they’re confronted with”.
On the first song released from the album “The Present Day”, Thomas, welcomes us to his day and age. “We call the time we live in the present day, but so did the people who lived a hundred years ago, and so will the people who will live a hundred years from now,” Edward explains. “After this second Big Bang, we find ourselves in a parallel world very similar to the one we live in. The song is the first song on the album with a lead vocal. It has a powerful beginning and an almost hymn-like touch to it.”
The album is a gargantuan, sprawling piece of majesty. Reekers turned to Joost van den Broek, who he had met during his Ayreon performances, asking him to help him get the Liberty Project on its way. The collaboration turned out to be a magical one. And that’s not the only friend he’s had a little help from. It features Arjen Lucassen Ayreon), Mark Lennon (Venice), Harry Sacksioni, Damian Wilson (Threshold), John’ Jaycee’ Cuijpers (Praying Mantis), Koen Herfst (Vandenberg), Cindy Oudshoorn (Kayak) and former Genesis member Steve Hackett contributed a guitar part.
“The recording process was an overwhelming experience for me”, Reekers confesses. “We had Vandenberg’s Koen Herfst on drums, giving it his all, Mark Bogert on guitars, Johannes Adema on basses, a string section, a mixed choir and even a children’s choir. Having composed all the music and written all the lyrics for the project, it really was a dream come true for me to hear it come to life with so many great musicians and singers giving me the benefit of their wonderful talent”.
Reekers was the former lead singer of Dutch progressive-rock titans Kayak. He joined Kayak ahead of their breakout album, Phantom of the Night (1978), which featured the band’s biggest hit, “Ruthless Queen”. The band’s soaring progressive pop-rock and grandiose flourishes proved to capture the ears of fans and the album became the bands most significant commercial success. Reekers was vocalist for Kayak until their split in 1982 and then re-joined in 2005 until 2014.
He released solo albums The Last Forest (1980), Stages (1993), Child of the Water (2008) and continued to tour Europe as a backing singer with artists like Meatloaf, Oleta Adams, Bobby Kimball and even Caterina Valente, and also appearing on records and tours with several Dutch and Belgian artists as well as the legendary Demis Roussos. His solo single “The words to say I love you” was included in a soap opera in Brazil and became very popular there. He is a notable collaborator with fellow Dutch prog-rock polymath Arjen Lucassen and his Ayreon project.
As a voice actor and director of dubbing, his work can be seen in movie franchises such as Harry Potter as well as the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Fantastic Four and Disney movies such as Mulan, The Lion King II, Encanto and Pinocchio (2022), and The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie.
It may have been 15 years, but we’re presented with a grand total of 17 glorious tracks. And what immediately attracts attention is the diversity of the material. It ranges from ballads to heavy metal, pop songs, rock-orientated power tracks, genuine blues, and almost classical instrumentals. So, is it a rock opera? Yes. Is it a musical? Yes. Is it a concept album? Most definitely!

The noise of the world, the sudden silence, eternal longing and the stage that is nature form the themes of The Finnish artist Päivi Sihvonen‘s debut album. Right after publishing, her first singles Self-consciousness and Dream gained recognition on international music websites and have been selected to be broadcast on European radio channels. Through the passing of time and emotions, a sense on wholeness gets channelled into music in Piper’s debut album “What is the heart for?”.
Air soars in melancholy
The third single release “Air” is particularly special to its creator. Air needs its own spotlight to bring out its sensibility, separate from the other songs on the album. It was born out of fragility and after the black sun had set. With heavy feet trailing on the ground, after seven weeks of wailing, Air was born, which is the fourth song on the album.
This single is part of the double track on the album, but it also works as a stand-alone piece. During the stages of songwriting, the songs Eternity and Air found each other and formed a pair: the mystery of eternity without reverberation. After the pain that started in Eternity, the piano moods of Air continue with a similar sadness.
“To me, the arrangement of Air needed a delicate melancholy. My song partner Saku found it with a sad guitar version. Hearing it was such a great experience that I took more time with the song and waited until I could sing and rediscover my own voice again. At the same time, I made the decision that fragility can and should be heard” Päivi describes the process of how the song found its tune, and continues: “In the end, the song found its place on the album, even though I originally wrote it without any intentions of ultimately releasing it for others to hear. Air is the most emotional song on the album.”
A woman and a piano create a strong tone in her debut album.
“What is the heart for?” the lyrics and the moods of the songs that ended up on the record got their driving force from the challenges of being human, and got their strong framework inspired by nature.
In typical expressive style of Piper, all songs originate from and around the piano. Other instruments have been added to bring the songs into rock sound. Other instruments are performed by the talented Saku Anttila.
Born out of feeling
This record is about the fleeting moments in life and the emotions that reflect those moments. Feelings are channeled into music and tune that ultimately became the titular Piper.
The overpowering feeling that feels so overwhelming at times and the theme that transpires through every song – this album is named after words left unsaid:
”What is the heart for.. should listen to it more”
