A Serpent’s Tongue, is the second single from PRAISE THE PLAGUE‘s upcoming new album Suffocating In The Current Of Time, which is set to be released on February 16th!

The single is accompanied by a video clip from Chariot Of Black Moth, who already did videos and trailers for Napalm Death, Cave In, God Is An Astronaut and many others.

PRAISE THE PLAGUE formulate the introduction to the dark, grim soundscape of their third album themselves by saying: “The gate is passed, upon us is a bleak, raging sea. Tidal waves crushing ashore, out of desperation evolves anger and frustration. Time, as a construct, imprisons its architects. “Suffocating In The Current Of Time” takes us from a dark and devouring realm, to staring the devourer into its cold, dead eyes. Lead by fierce and unforgiving melodies, we are marching into our own decay. Lead by the pounding of drums we indulge ourselves in the cloak of false promises.”

The quintet from the German capital Berlin has been around since 2017. After the debut “Antagonist” and their first album for LIFEFORCE RECORDS, “The Obsidian Gate” (2021), “Suffocating In The Current Of Time” showcases a further intensification of the band’s dense and intense black metal. PRAISE THE PLAGUE are modern representatives of their guild and not purists. There are also ominous echoes of doom and sludge as well as atmospheric post-metal. It is no coincidence that the Berliners’ third album remains instrumental for longer passages. This increases the impact of the furious tempo sections with their nagged vocals.

“Suffocating In The Current Of Time” is full of emotion. Not all of them are purely negative and depressing. Nevertheless, PRAISE THE PLAGUE’s playing will be perceived above all as oppressive and hopeless. Given their band name, who can blame them? The musicians pursue relentless catharsis.

Finnish punk rockers The Dogshit Boys release a new four song ep with sick, fast and heavy punk n’ roll.

The new ep brings new sounds in the form of two stoner-heavy punktracks + two fast paced punk explosions in the ven of traditional finnish old school borderline hardcore Flashrock.

The cult band from Helsinki, Finland was formed in 2000 as a lo-fi psychotic entity that has evolved into strong metal-punk territory.

The songs touch subjects like climate change despair, general “fuck this sh**t” feelings — and of course evil Fembots from the future fighting alcoholic zombies in the sewers of some future Metropolis, in the manner of the mighty Judge Dredd comics.

In the summer of 2023 the original lineup reformed for one night only at vocalist-madman la55es Birthday bash to play a handful of cult songs from the ancient era of The Dogshit Boys.

Finnish progressive rock masters Von Hertzen Brothers have recently announced the release of their magical live performance at Tavastia, Finland, recorded in 2023. Performing songs across their extensive catelogue, Live at Tavastia will be released as a live album on 16th February, and the concert will also be available to watch as an on-demand stream.

Today, the band have unveiled a second taster of what to expect from Live at Tavastia with a single and video for the live version of ‘Sunday Child’.

‘Sunday Child’ was originally released on the band’s 2015 album New Day Rising and has since become a live show favourite. During the band’s live performances, the anthemic sing-along sparks a special connection which is palpable in the accompanying live video that transports viewers into the heart of a Von Hertzen Brothers live show experience.

Vocalist / guitarist Mikko von Hertzen comments: “Songs like ‘Sunday Child’ have become the heartbeat of our live shows. Live at Tavastia is the first release since Von Hertzen Brothers‘ highly acclaimed 2022 album Red Alert in the Blue Forest, which Prog magazine described as “A masterpiece”. Von Hertzen Brothers have consistently achieved top 5 albums including three number 1s in their homeland with Love Remains the Same (2008), Stars Aligned (2011), Nine Lives (2013), New Day Rising (2015), War Is Over (2017) and Red Alert In The Blue Forest (2022).

Their ability to mould complex arrangements into vivid musical landscapes led to an Emma Award (the Finnish equivalent of a Grammy) and a Progressive Music ‘Anthem of the Year’ Award in the UK as well as nominations and plaudits along the way.

This success has made them one of the most important rock acts to have emerged from Finland in recent times. A stunning live force, the band have performed in 22 countries.

The three brothers are joined by one of Finland’s finest drummers, Sami Kuoppamäki, known for the acclaimed Finnish cult band Kingston Wall, and for performing in metal giants Apocalyptica and Stratovarius. Visionary keyboard player, Robert Engstrand, best known for his work with Turisas and the Swedish progressive band The Flower Kings completes the Von Hertzen Brothers line-up.

IN VAIN Drop Explosive Single ‘At the Going Down of the Sun’

Progressive extreme metal act, IN VAIN, are gearing up for a musical revelation with the release of their second single, “At the Going Down of the Sun.” The track serves as a thrilling precursor to their forthcoming album, “Solemn,” set to unleash this year.

I Thought You’d Take My Hand is the second single from The Wound (January 30th 2024, Sliptrick Records), second full-length album from Spanish post hardcore band The Distance.

Musically, I Thought You’d Take My Hand stands out for its melody and rawness, which combines perfectly with the emotionality of its lyrics that evoke a journey of loss and search for shelter in relationships that are no longer there. Swedish Dark Metallers The Vice have unleashed their highly anticipated album “Dead Canary Run” today, available via Noble Demon. This release marks a significant milestone in the band’s history as it is the first time their music will be available on vinyl.

To commemorate the release of their new record, The Vice has unveiled a gloomy music video for their latest single, “Lit de Parade”. The band comments:

“‘Lit De Parade’ is a colorful display of the many elements coming together on our new album ‘Dead Canary Run’.
