Hamburg’s metal maniacs, GODSNAKE, will release their second album Eye For An Eye on May 12, 2023 via Massacre Records. Today, the band has shared a music video for their first single “The Sickening”!

Contemporary heavy metal with significant references to some of the big old masters: straight, hard, riff-orientated, but never missing catchiness and hook lines. The reptile has been up to mischief in the heavy music scene since 2015 and has successfully established itself in the metallic jungle. Torger (vocals), Stevo (guitar), The Walt (bass) and Sidney (drums), who were already involved in the album Poison Thorn, were reinforced in 2022 by guitar wizard Pepe (Ancient Curse, Sons Of Seasons).

With their sophomore album, the 5 musicians want to prove and renew the very positive feedback of the debut and thus maintain their place in the ranking. 10 new songs in 47 minutes – straight in your face! Versatile, heavy, catchy, and very powerful, that’s what GODSNAKE stands for.

But give ear, a first single and the album opener, “The Sickening”, has just been unleashed! Watch the new GODSNAKE video clip now streaming here:

“The omnipresence of malevolence and misery in this world is the central topic of this title. Written from the point of view of a father who wants to protect his child from all harm.“ Says the band about their first single release. “War and destruction, chaos and crime, intolerance and xenophobia everywhere paint a damn black picture of the here and now.

Musically, the rich atmospheric sounds bring a powerful vibe right from the start, which is carried throughout the song. The “orchestral” beautiful outro is a wonderful contrast to the song’s content. Hope dies last.”

Like their much acclaimed debut, Eye For An Eye was recorded and produced in the LSD studios in Lübeck by mastermind Lasse Lammert (e.g., Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Wind Rose etc.).

The motto for the cover and artwork was ‘never change a winning team’, so the band was once again able to win over Björn Gooßes / Killustrations (including Amon Amarth, Death Angel, Hatesphere) for the design duties.

Eye For An Eye will be out on May 12, 2023 through Masssacre Records, the pre-sale has just started at THIS LOCATION!

VULTURE INDUSTRIES Reveal Details of Upcoming Album “Ghosts from the Past” + New Single & Video

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 23, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Vulture Industries. Leave a comment

Embracing a sound that was once described by a fan as “This is how Nick Cave would sound like if he made metal”, VULTURE INDUSTRIES has long since established itself as something singular, yet oddly familiar and strangely recognizable.

And, with the release of “Ghosts from the Past”, the band’s fifth full length album imminent,  Dark Essence Records have today debuted a track from the album, along with an accompanying video.

The track, titled “New Lords of Light” can be streamed or downloaded from a variety of services at this location.

A video for the track, filmed and edited by Jarle Hovda Moe and with stock video from Carnival of Souls, can be seen below.

The band’s  Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen gave us an insight into how the track evolved:

Starting life with the working  title “For Roky”, I felt that this one had a haunting feel reminiscent of Roky Erickson. This was back during the pandemic summer of 2021, and I remember listening to early versions of the track in my car whilst driving up and down the west coast with my kids in the back. Processing the track in this way  probably had a defining influence on the final result, so in the end it turned out upbeat and energetic, yet bound in a sombre atmosphere somehow reminiscent of the 80s.

Given that “Ghosts from the Past” was written at a time when the band was undergoing considerable changes in their personal lives, as well as the changes wrought by the Pandemic, the album inevitably took longer than normal to write. Whilst feeling lost and struggling to find a sense of direction,  the combined process of writing and production proved to be the longest to date for VULTURE INDUSTRIES.

The end result, however,  is VULTURE INDUSTRIES’ strongest album to date, because “Ghosts from the Past” represents what is essentially a piece of their soul.  It succeeds in mirroring all that was going on around it, and reflects the fear of a world spinning out of control, and the sense of powerlessness in the face of a world order that is falling apart. Only to be replaced by old ideas imposed by autocratic warlords with no goal in mind other than their own power and legacy.

Whilst still maintaining their unique sound, “Ghosts from the Past” marks a new direction for VULTURE INDUSTRIES, one which leans towards the darker side of hard rock. Drawing on a wide range of influences; from dust-riddled Spaghetti Westerns accompanied by Ennio Morricone, past the monochrome melancholia of apocalyptic post punk, through deep valleys and steep hills shrouded in progressive darkness, and a Nordic Noir looking to solve the unexplained murder of the truth.

Recorded at the Conclave & Earshot Studios “Ghosts from the Past” was produced by the band and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street. With album artwork by Kim Holm and artwork for the singles by Costin Chioreanu, track listing is as follows:

  1. New Lords of Light
  2. Saturn Devouring His Young
  3. This Hell is Mine
  4. Deeper
  5. Right Here in the Dark
  6. A Strangers Curse
  7. Tyrants Weep Alone

“Ghosts from the Past” will be released on the 16th June in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats and is now available to pre-order from the foillowing:

Over the years, VULTURE INDUSTRIES has been proven to have a wide appeal both on stage and with their studio output, and their stagecraft has earned them a reputation as a theatrical and hugely entertaining live act.  With plans for extensive live shows and tours in the works for 2023, the following appearances have already been confirmed:

15 Apr – Kvarteret, Bergen: 20 year anniversary (NO)
28 Apr – Ogna Scene, Ogna (NO)
16 Jun – Vaterland, Oslo (NO)
17 Jun – Good Omens, Trondheim (NO)
28/29 Jul – Artmania Festival, Sibiu (RO)

VULTURE INDUSTRIES lineup has been together since the band’s beginning and comprises Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen on vocals and keys, Eivind Huse on guitars and vocals, Øyvind Madsen on guitars, Kyrre Teigen on bass and vocals, and Tor Helge Gjengedal  on drums.

CANI DEI PORTICI Unveil New Album Details, Premiere ‘ASAP’ Video

Italian noise rock/instrumental outfit CANI DEI PORTICI will be releasing their new album, “Hype For Nothing”, on April 21st 2023 via Time To Kill Records.

The video of the album’s first single, “ASAP”, is now available HERE.

Director Daniel Olivas (Adult Swim, Matt Groening) comments:

“When I first heard the song, I immediately saw a storm come to mind. After learning that the message of the album had themes of struggle and the cruelty of reality vs expectations, the idea came pretty clear of a cliff being impossible to climb. Day to day can often feel like a never ending journey that you spend so much time climbing, only to have more unexpected external conflicts weigh you down. I think it’s pretty universal that when we finally get to the top, after persevering and even from the motivation of loved ones, the result can still be as devastating as the struggle”.

CANI DEI PORTICI offer an iridescent blend of instrumental sounds that embrace noise rock, post hardcore, stoner and much more.

“Hype For Nothing” is a concept album about disappointment and life’s expectations, about unattainable hopes and dreams, about efforts made to gain nothing: African and Asian migrants who don’t make it to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea, a satisfying job or a good occupational pension that can never be reached, an untimely death, deferring what we would like to do until better times. The title is a joke about the album release.

Famous manga artist Shintaro Kago took care of the album cover artwork.

Tracklist:

01 Intro
02 Break Away
03 ASAP
04 Hype For Nothing
05 Disappointment Waltz
06 Farfalle
07 [Untitled](ghost track)

CANI DEI PORTICI, who label their sound ‘dogcore’, have long been very active on the live front, having played over two hundred concerts with bands such as Doom, Poison Arrows (ex Don Caballero), Zu, Qui, Samothrace, Ovo and many others.

The two previous releases, the “Cave Canem” EP (2013, Toten Schwan, L’Odio Dischi) and “Due” (2016, Dischi Bervisti, Toten Schwan Records, KOE records and stuff, Santa Valve Records, Vollmer Industries, Oh Dear Records, È un brutto posto dove vivere, Longrail Records, Effetti Collaterali) got an amazing feedback from press and fans, allowing the band to become a cult act in the underground.

Line-up:
Demetrio Spousinho – Drums
Claudio Adamo – Guitar

SALIVA Guitarist Wayne Swinny Passes Away from Spontaneous Brain Hemorrhage While on Tour

It is with great sadness that SALIVA report the passing of Wayne Swinny, the guitarist of the band. Wayne passed away this afternoon from a Spontaneous brain hemorrhage while on tour promoting their new single “High on Me.” Wayne will be missed by all those who knew him.

“I’m not even sure what to think or how to feel right now. My heart aches for Wayne’s family, his friends, and anyone who had the joy of being around him. My heart aches for his daughter Nikki. He loved that little girl so much. He was a Guitar Hero onstage with all the Rock ‘N’ Roll swag that most guitar players dream of. Offstage he was a proud father, an Ancient Aliens expert, and an incredible human who had zero enemies! He would go out of his way to make sure you had a good time. I’m grateful that I got to share almost 12 years of my life with Wayne on the stage and most importantly off the stage. He was the older brother I never had. I learned so much from him and we had a fucking blast together! I will cherish it all for the rest of my life! God Bless you Wayne. I know we’ll meet again!!” – Bobby Amaru

After acquiring front man Bobby Amaru in 2011, Saliva became infused with new blood, energy, and spirit. The same energy launched Saliva’s career in 2001 with the release, Every Six Seconds – a certified Double Platinum-selling album, containing the hits, “Click Click Boom” and 2002 Grammy nominated, “Your Disease.” Saliva’s in-your-face, anthemic writing style continued with a certified Gold-selling album Back in to Your System with hits: “Always,” “Raise Up,” and the Nikki Sixx co-written, “Rest In Pieces.”

Upon adding former Shinedown and Fuel bassist, Brad Stewart, as a permanent member, Saliva solidified their new lineup consisting of: Wayne Swinny, Sammi Jo Bishop and Amaru.
