VOLUCRINE are a Finnish alternative metal band with an undisputed attitude and a style to match the erratic human mind. The band make their music with a therapeutic mindset and aspire to resonate with just about anyone with its humane themes; there are no dragons flying or swords clanging in the band’s lyrics. Born from the grey shadows of their hometown and the coldness of Kymijoki, Volucrine’s strength lies in its ability to combine Finnish melancholy and sense of melody with the expressive language of te chnical and modern metal. Deep and personal lyrics accompany the crushing low guitar parts and rhythmically versatile drum arrangements. The ensemble is tied together with a dialogue of extreme vocal styles, so that not a single tone from the palette is left uninterpreted, from the black of Kouvola’s licorice to the grey of the concrete walls of Volucrine’s hometown.
The band have been working diligently on their new album “ETNA” and two singles from the upcoming LP have already been released, in addition to a relentless cover of Blur’s classic “Song 2”. The title song “ETNA”, which borrows its name from the volcano, introduces Volucrine’s more classic mid-tempo and riff-oriented style, accentuating the band’s return to a heavier expression, while the corona-era power song “Combatant” boldly pushes into the realm of modern alternative and contemporary metal. The band have updated their arsenal and 7-string guitars have taken the lead to create the band’s heaviest album ever! “ETNA” is bound to be released later this year.

Though many have tried, few bands have successfully replicated the mind-bending technical death metal formula that was established during the genre’s advent by the Godfathers of DEATH. That is until Italy’s Miscreance entered the ring in 2022 with its debut full-length, ‘Convergence.’ Unlike tech death contemporaries who are known for speed and extremity, Miscreance artistry lies within its carefully executed precision, underscoring the focused discipline behind the music’s eloquent complexities.
Miscreance is a project reborn from the ashes of Atomic Massacre. As the former band’s members decided to change the course of their stylistic direction, they felt it was time for a rebirth, changing the name as well. In 2018, the band released its first demo, ‘From Awareness to Creation,’ which was originally co-produced by Red Wine Rites records in Switzerland and limited strictly to 100 copies.
Shortly after the demo release, the band ceased their search for a singer upon realizing that drummer Andrea F. was exactly what they were looking for, so they exhumed three songs from the pre-demo era and recorded a split with death metal grind-crushers Vile Apparition (AUS), released in late 2021.
In 2022, Miscreance made its debut with its first full-length, ‘Convergence,’ which took almost five years to complete. The offering quickly garnered the attention of Season of Mist, who formed a union with the emerging band and is now reissuing the full-length for worldwide distribution as the old school tech death revivalists prepare to unleash a sophomore offering onto the masses.

San Diego, California-based deathgrind mavericks, CATTLE DECAPITATION, unleash their “Scourge Of The Offspring” video today. The band’s latest bruiser appears on their tenth studio album, Terrasite, set for release May 12th via Metal Blade Records.
Though many bands have tried, no one articulates the real apocalypse humanity is facing as vividly and succinctly as CATTLE DECAPITATION. With 2019’s Death Atlas, they reached the apex of this, perhaps leading some to believe they had no place left to go beyond such an achievement, but alas, the band returns with Terrasite, which is as bold a statement as they have ever made. Roaring to life with the savage yet hauntingly melodic “Terrasitic Adaptation” and advancing through the likes of the relentless “We Eat Our Young” and culminating with the ten-plus minutes of “Just Another Body,” it’s an album that constantly shifts dynamics and demands a variety of emotional responses.
The record pushes the CATTLE DECAPITATION sound further into more epic and varied territory, and in the hands of vocalist Travis Ryan the governing concept takes a new and disturbing direction. “I wanted to do the 180° opposite of Death Atlas. I already had the concept idea from years back and since Death Atlas was so dark and brooding, I wanted a completely opposite effect – I wanted this to take place in the daylight. I’ve always found daytime horror to be really unsettling so I wanted to make sure what was going on on the cover took place in the light of day, which also finds its place within the lyrics.“
When asked to elaborate on where he is coming from lyrically on this record, Ryan states frankly, “from a place of distress. Anger, rage, resentment, depression, anxiety, a poor outlook on our species both on a day-to-day level, a broader, worldly level as well as a philosophical level.”
Latest single, “Scourge Of The Offspring,” he further elaborates, “makes up the bulk of the album’s concept that the first song, ‘Terrasitic Adaptation,’ and the cover art sort of set into motion. In the first song, we find out what’s going on on the cover, and this song deals more with what our children will end up being – adult humans, shat out and left to make sense of this world only to end up being part of the problem simply by existing.”

Swedish heavy metal pioneers ENFORCER are stoked to share their second new single ‘Nostalgia‘. The title track of their upcoming album Nostalgia, due to be released on May 5th, gives fans another taste of the new long-player. Whilst first single ‘Coming Alive‘ showed the straight-to-the-point, classically heavy side that ENFORCER are well-known for, ‘Nostalgia‘ flaunts a more melodic and powerful edge, including acoustic elements and a more delicate, heart-felt touch. It’s the album’s ludicrously catchy power ballad. Along with the new single, the band has also released a new music video to accompany the track, which you can witness below.
ENFORCER‘s Olof Wikstrand comments: ”Sooner or later you get to a point in life when you realize you’re not gonna live forever and you see things around you that you used to know aged, withered and died. There’s absolutely nothing you can do about the destructive force of time. We’re super excited to share with you one of the most ominous songs we’ve ever written: Nostalgia. A powerful semi-ballad about the futility of life. Enjoy!”
ENFORCER‘s new album Nostalgia was recorded at Olof and Jonas Wikstrand‘s own Hvergelmer Studios, where the most recent ENFORCER records also first saw the light of day. All 13 album tracks were captured between October 2020 and February 2022. The entire record was produced, mixed, and engineered by the band. The artwork for Nostalgia is made by Adam Burke. With Nostalgia, ENFORCER are embracing their speed metal roots, fusing extreme guitar riffing with catchy stadium choruses.
Nostalgia tracklisting 01. Armageddon 02. Unshackle Me 03. Coming Alive 04. Heartbeats 05. Demon 06. Kiss of Death 07. Nostalgia 08. No Tomorrow 09. At the End of the Rainbow 10. Metal Supremacia 11. White Lights in the USA 12. Keep the Flame Alive 13. When the Thunder Roars (Cross Fire)
