Chart-cracking Finnish melodic death metal band BEFORE THE DAWN reveal third new single “The Dark”, together with an official music video! The band’s highly anticipated comeback record Stormbringers is out this Friday, June 30, 2023 via Napalm Records.

“The Dark” catches instantly with an intense intro and – as with the whole album – a wild ride between calmer parts, intense growls and untamable death metal passages. After a 10-year hiatus, BEFORE THE DAWN are back stronger than ever, ready to introduce their new lineup on their new record Stormbringers, as well as on festival stages this summer! In autumn, fans will get the chance to catch the band on their European tour with WOLFHEART & HINAYANA.

BEFORE THE DAWN on “The Dark”:
“’The Dark’ is the 3rd single from the new album and stands sturdy behind the title and is the most melancholic and melodic song from the whole album. Besides carrying a deep ‘autumn mood’ it also has all the main features of a classic BTD song. Heavy guitars, heart stabbing guitar melodies, thunderous bass drums and vocals that hits like a storm. The video footage is taken from the comeback show in Lahti, Finland on May 19, 2023. Since it will surely have a very special place in our hearts we wanted make some of that feeling and mood to live forever in a form of a video.”

BEFORE THE DAWN returns with their first new full length studio album since their hiatus – and stronger than ever! The band originated as Finnish Metal Award winning Tuomas Saukkonen’s (Wolfheart) solo project, but throughout the years, there have been several lineup changes. With the exciting new lineup, the band introduces its biggest changes so far. Previous guitarist and vocalist Saukkonen has moved behind the drums, and talented Voice Of Finland 2022 finalist Paavo Laapotti has taken on all vocalist duties, while Swallow The Sun’s Juho Räihä – who has been with BEFORE THE DAWN since 2006 – performs lead guitar duties. Now, the Finns have fully transformed into their new power and are ready to reconquer the scene!

BEFORE THE DAWN on Stormbringers:
“Stormbringers breaks a silence that lasted over 10 years and brings BEFORE THE DAWN back stronger than ever. A decade of gathering strength, growing the hunger and building determination and now it is time for our 8th album to see the light of the day and bring the band back on the road.”

Stormbringers sets off right away with first single “Destroyer”. With ease, the album balances aggressive and raw death metal facets with haunting melancholy carried by Paavo Laapotti’s vocals and intense melodies. Opener “Chains” lures the listener with stomping drums, heavy riffs and everchanging clean vocals with deep growls. With ease, the album balances aggressive and raw death metal facets with haunting melancholy carried by Paavo Laapotti’s vocals and intense melodies.  This can be witnessed on “Downhearted” – a forward moving mid-tempo track spiced up with visceral growls illustrating the depths of darkness. Likewise, “Reveries” is a mighty hymn with incredible melodies and excellent guitar lines, while “Divided” enchants with a delicate intro mixing acoustic guitar and piano tunes that build up to a melodic wall of brutal sound. “Chaos Star” immediately draws the listener into an intense soundscape where intense death metal parts interfere with a melancholic, visceral melody and a passionate chorus showcasing Paavo Laapotti’s vocal skills. With Stormbringers, BEFORE THE DAWN prove that even after 10 years of absence, they haven’t lost a glimpse of their power and unleash a storm – paving their way to reconquer the scene!

PRESTIGE Announce UK Tour Dates in July

Following the re-release of their iconic 1989-debut album, “Attack Against Gnomes” (reissued in January 2023 via Massacre Records), Finnish thrash metal titans PRESTIGE have announced a series of UK summer dates. They will mark the band’s first live appearances in the UK ever!

Says Jan Yrlund, guitarist of PRESTIGE:
“Finally, after some 35 years of Prestige, we are coming to the UK. Needless to say we are thrilled about the tour  and hope to see as many friends on the road as possible. People who are into no-nonsense old school thrash metal should check out the shows in Norwich, Bristol, Ipswich or London. We are teaming up with promoters and bands who do this for the sake of metal, for the fans. As it used to be and as it should be. Thank you for the support!”

Make sure to catch PRESTIGE live at the following dates:

PRESTIGE Live:
23.07.2023 FI Ylöjärvi – VahantarocK
27.07.2023 UK Norwich – The Brickmakers
28.07.2023 UK Bristol – The Gryphon
29.07.2023 UK Ipswich – The Music Room – Dayfest 2023
30.07.2023 UK London – The Underworld (w/ Possessed)
19.08.2023 FI Tampere – Tullikamari Klubi (Speed Metal Party)

PRESTIGE were barely out of their teenager years, yet fully aware of the problems in the society and the world around them when they started making music in 1987. Often the band took a humoristic approach to song lyrics, but if you dig deeper, there is always a message hidden in there. A song like “This World”, for example, is as relevant today as it was 35 years ago.

Their music was fast and aggressive, and PRESTIGE was the third thrash band to release a full-length album in Finland. The years 1988 and 1989 witnessed a real breakthrough of thrash metal in Finland, and PRESTIGE was right in the middle of it, ending up playing all over the country and hitting the charts.

The band’s iconic debut album, “Attack Against Gnomes”, that has been reissued via Massacre Records earlier this year, was produced and recorded by renowned producer TT Oksala and was mixed at the legendary Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. The album recordings took seven days. As bonus, the CD Digipak edition of the “Attack Against Gnomes” reissue includes the 1988 demo “GODS” which actually led the band to a record deal in first place. It was recorded with an eight-track recorder in just a few hours at Emma Studio, yet the band obviously knew what they were doing. On the demo you can hear the band raw and unpolished, yet full of devotion to their music and lifestyle.

Space Adventure by COVENTHRALL Continues with Second Single ‘Avatar’

Visual arts: Mario Lopez, Layout: Toni Bite

COVENTHRALL published their first single “Dreadnought” a month ago and continues the story with the next episode. The song titled “Avatar” introduces its namesake hero of the concept album Legacy of Morfuidra. Tuomas Nieminen, known as the lead singer of Adamantra interprets the character of Avatar with dedication in the verses and blasts away the choruses as duets with Sami Ilvonen.

Narrator of the story Sami Ilvonen describes the role of Avatar:

“Avatar is but a youngster when he is chosen for the perilous mission to breach the Scaven blockade. The Coven enables the Avatar to use the ancient technology and tools as well as manifest the willpower of the Morfuidran people. They send the fearless young man on the adventure of his lifetime.”

Tuomas Nieminen as the role of Avatar: vocals

Bass player Jukka Hoffrén comments on the choice of Tuomas Nieminen to the role of Avatar:

“It was clear from the start that this role required an impressive sounding heroic tenor. The capabilities of Tuomas as a great interpreter immersing in any role was already familiar over the span of several years and made me suggest him as the first choice for this role.”

This song as well as the former release is melodic and strong double bass drum drive makes it the first choice for all power metal fans. The song took the final form after the drums were already recorded. Guitar player Toni Bite reminisces on the long days back at the studio:

“The drum tracks had been recorded by Janne Ojala and we were recording bass and guitars for the song with Jukka Hoffrén when the original chorus started to feel a bit off. We decided to quit recording for the day and went to the sauna to think about the next move. After a good set of hot and sweaty steams Jukka picked up a guitar and came up with a new chorus on the spot. It sounded great and ended up on the track.”

This single and upcoming album Legacy Of Morfuidra are published through Inverse Records.

CRAVING Unleash ‘Mich packt die Wut’ Music Video

Following the release of their much-acclaimed, latest album “Call Of The Sirens” (released in May via Massacre Records), German epic metal trio CRAVING has premiered a new music video for the colossal album opening track “Mich packt die Wut”!

CRAVING singer and guitarist Ivan Chertov reveals:

“This composition pertains to uncontrolled anger. During my childhood in Russia in the post-Soviet era, I encountered various challenges. These struggles, coupled with my difficulty in managing my emotions, particularly anger, added to my distress. With time, I discovered that my experience resonated with men suffering from borderline disorder, who often experience severe and recurrent outbursts of rage throughout their lives.

The lyrics of Mich Packt die Wut (Engl:”I am seized with rage”) describe these moments of intense anger.
The line
“Lass mich in Ruh, bis ich mich besser
Mich packt die Wut – meine Seele wird zum Messer”

“Leave me alone until I feel better/I am seized with rage – my soul becomes a knife” suggests the protagonist may become violent and act out in a blind rage if provoked.”

“Call Of The Sirens” is available as vinyl, CD and digital formats, you can order your album copy HERE!

Building upon the staggering success of their previous album, “By the Storm”, CRAVING continues to awe audiences with their unique fusion of melodic black metal, melodic death metal, and traditional heavy metal epicness on stages of all sizes. This time, the album contains eight catchy to-the-point core songs and two bonus cover songs on the CD version: “Shum” by the Ukranian electro-folk band Go_A and “El Diablo” by Greek singer Elena Tsagrinou. The lyrics on “Call Of The Sirens” feature four different languages: German, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Along several high class guest musicians, the album also welcomes Cradle Of Filth guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda with a solo on the “Gods Don’t Negotiate” track.

Events in the band’s lives, the world, and in our society, which is more and more striving towards psychopathy, have inspired the band to write “Call Of The Sirens”. The album is metaphorically following the irresistible voices of the sirens, the mythical creatures mentioned in Greek and many other mythologies, which lured people in by seductive behavior and ultimately killed them.

“Call Of The Sirens” was produced by CRAVING and once again mixed by Christoph Brandes at the Iguana Studios (Necrophagist, Finsterforst, The Spirit, Imperium Dekadenz etc.). As always, the cover artwork was created by the band’s long-term friend and designer Andrej Bartulović / All Things Rotten.

Tracklist:

  1. Mich packt die Wut
  2. Call Of The Sirens
  3. Death March

Finnish Industrial Metal band Pentatonik is back with a new name and line-up and it’s now called ALFA PENTATONIK. Today the band released the first single Korjattu totuus (Fixed Truth) from the upcoming new EP “Gamma 1” which will be released later in 2023 via Inverse Records.

LISTEN to Korjattu totuus single on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/alfa-pentatonik-kt

The band tells about the track:

“Our first new song (Pelkojemme Perintö) was almost like a tribute to older Pentatonik and now it’s time to kick up a gear and show more metallic style. ”Korjattu totuus” tells about propaganda and people who have unlimited power.”

LISTEN the comeback single Pelkojemme perintö: https://push.fm/fl/alfa-pentatonik-pp

Pentatonik is a Finnish industrial metal band that was formed in the beginning 2000 and it is now coming back with full force. The band has been on a break since 2006, when their last EP “Hellä” was released and band member separated their ways.

Pentatonik did a comeback in 2007, but life got on the way again and the only release was “Pohjakosketus” EP, which was published only on JP Immonen‘s (Walhalla, Iron Frost & Aria of Sorrow) Soundcloud account.

In 2012 Pentatonik got their second album “Lopullinen Ratkaisu” (Final Solution of Mankind) ready. It was started with the original band members before their 2006 breakup and was finished by JP and AP. Album was released as a digital download, and it was used to collect money for the Torture Victims.

2022 was a new start to the band. JP Immonen (only original member and founder of the band) started to go through old files and create new music for the band and to honour the original Pentatonik, named it “Alfa Pentatonik”. Janne Partanen (Hautajaisyö, Marraskuun Lapset & Uhriristi) was found to do vocals and also lyrics.

Alfa Pentatonik is currently making new songs and remaking old ones. As a new beginning the band released “Pelkojemme Perintö” (Legacy of Our Fears) a hard hitting songs that takes inspiration from Rammstein and Ministry. The song tells about evolution and how it has made us who we are.

The Band started working with Inverse Records and their new EP Gamma 1 is set to be released later in 2023.

Line-up:
JP Immonen: Guitars, Bass, Drums, Synths.
Janne Partanen: Vocal
Harri Hytönen: guitar solo

ALBERT BOUCHARD Releases Second Single ‘Transmaniacon’ Feat. The Dictators

Posted by tarjavirmakari on June 28, 2023
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ALBERT BOUCHARD. Leave a comment

Albert Bouchard is best known as a founding member of Blue Öyster Cult, the original lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning for You.” Bouchard contributed to songwriting and lead vocals on some of its greatest songs, such as “Cites on Flame With Rock and Roll.”

Albert Bouchard is back with Imaginos III – Mutant Reformation, wrapping up the trilogy of Imaginos. Bouchard has shepherded the concept of Imaginos through its many incarnations over the years, translating Sandy Pearlman’s feverish visions into sonic resonance. As Bouchard states, “Sandy’s not being here to feel the long-awaited culmination is perhaps the greatest irony of this epic journey through the invisibility of conspiracy, the shape-shifting, and eternal light that is Desdinova. But legend lives on, as will tales told ‘round the fire of when Man still walked the Earth, and the carnage had yet to begin. Hear the final chapter in this monumental saga when the record is released on July 7, 2023.”

The first single was Bouchard’s take on the Blue Öyster Cult fan favorite “E.T.I.,” featuring brother Joe Bouchard on lead vocal, Isabella Kosal on background vocals, and R.J. Ronquillo on lead guitar.

Listen here: https://ada.lnk.to/AlbertBouchardETI

Now Bouchard releases the second single “Transmaniacon,” featuring the current lineup of the Dictators. Bouchard had this to say, “I wanted to make a version of “Transmaniacon” that had a heavier approach, proto-metal with a punk flavor. The guys in the new Dictators were just the group to deliver that. I know it’s a fan favorite with BÖC fans, but I hope they can appreciate it as much as the original–just like they did for ‘E.T.I.’ ”

Listen here: http://ada.lnk.to/Transmaniacon

The album is available now for preorder and features guests “Ross the Boss” Friedman and Andy Shernoff (Dictators); Joe Cerisano (Silver Condor, TSO); Kenny Aaronson (Billy Idol, Bob Dylan); and Kasim Sulton (Utopia, Meat Loaf). It reunites original Blue Öyster Cult members Eric Bloom and Joe Bouchard, as well as current BÖC member Richie Castellano, who all contribute to this latest installment. The album also features reworks of classics like “E.T.I.,” “Godzilla,” and “Sole Survivor.” There will be limited- edition bundles, including a very limited colored-vinyl option (only 250 copies).
