Swedish power metal masters BLOODBOUND are currently gearing up for the release of their much-awaited, new studio offering entitled Tales From The North. The band’s tenth album will be coming out as a 2-CD digipak including a live CD, a strictly limited box set and coloured vinyl LPs on July 7, 2023 through AFM Records; the pre-sale is available here!

When it comes to defending the core values of timeless power metal and combining them with fresh stylistic variations and exciting stories, BLOODBOUND have always been fighting at the forefront. The six-piece has proven their versatility and inventiveness countless times. Following their much acclaimed, 2021-album, Creatures Of The Dark Realm, Tales From The North will unquestionable continue to enthrall the metal community! As lead guitarist Tomas Olsson recently said:

“’The songs are more fast-paced and closer to some of our earlier stuff like ’Moria’ and ’Nosferatu’, but have more complex arrangements. Compared to the predecessor ‚Creatures Of The Dark Realm‘ there are heavier guitars and some deeper sounding keyboards. We have also incorporated some traditional nordic folk music instruments to fit the concept of the album about the viking era. It`s still pure power metal but we’re trying to take it to the next level”

Following four previously-released album singles, “Odin’s Prayer”, “The Raven’s Cry”, “1066” and “Drink with the Gods”, today, BLOODBOUND are presenting a music video for the album title track “Tales From The North”! Watch the new clip now premiering here:

Olsson comments: “This song is about the foundation of norse mythology and cosmology. It describes the 9 worlds of Asgard and how the god Heimdall, who was the keeper and protector of bifrost (the rainbow bridge) could see everything. He carried all the stories and tales from the north. Musically the inspiration goes back to the old Helloween era.”

Tales From The North was produced by BLOODBOUND, and was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (Amorphis, Overkill, Sabaton) at the Swedish ‘Black Lounge Studios’. The cover artwork was created by Péter Sallai (Hammerfall, Powerwolf & many more).

On July 14, 2023, German thrash metal titans VENDETTA will return to the scene with their sixth studio album, Black As Coal, through Massacre Records. It’s the band’s first offering in six long years.

As the previously-released, first album single “Stranglehold Of Terror” proved, Black As Coal sees the band stronger and heavier than ever, and without question, they are about to deliver their best album to date! Having released their first two records in the late 80’s, VENDETTA‘s style is deeply rooted in thrash and speed metal. With the addition of guitarist Jan Hüttinger and drummer Domi Bertelt, new blood joined VENDETTA a few years ago and the band started working on their upcoming, new album, that was recorded during the pandemic.

Today, the five-piece has unleashed a new video clip for their album title track, “Black As Coal”! VENDETTA singer Mario Vogel states: “This song is about the ills of society: money is used for nonsense and not for important things; videos are taken when someone is beaten, hurt or killed, etc.”

Black As Coal was mixed by Dominik Bertelt and VENDETTA at Caffeine Recording, and was mastered by Michael Simon at Rocket Science Audio Studio. The cover artwork was designed by Pablo Klose. Slated for a release as Jewel Case CD, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats on July 14, 2023 through Massacre Records, the album pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

Track listing:

  1. Shoot To Kill
  2. Stranglehold Of Terror
  3. No Hands But A Gun
  4. AK-47
  5. Black As Coal
  6. Time To Change
  7. Death Means Relief
  8. Cheap Death
  9. Pallbearer
  10. For Dear Life
  11. Beast In Her Eyes

VENDETTA is:
Mario Vogel – Vocals
Michael “Opf” Opfermann – Lead Guitar
Jan Hüttinger – Lead Guitar
Klaus Ullrich – Bass, Rhythm Guitar
Domi Bertelt – Drums

THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN Announce “The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1” Album Details, First Single Revealed

With a band name like THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN (TCOFR for short) and an album with the title “The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1”, your guess would be that you will be stepping into the realms of fantasy. And indeed you would be right, as you will discover on the 15 September when Karisma Records, in tandem with TCOFR’s own label, Old Oak Records, releases the band’s debut album onto an unsuspecting public.

Intrigued?  Well, before delving deeper into the album itself, and the artists behind it, how about listening to a taster to get you into the swing of things, and where better than by heading to your favourite service to download or stream the track “Eleision Forest” from the album which you will find at THIS LOCATION.

“Eleision Forest” is a journey of close to 12 minutes and combines the energy  of classic 70’s hard rock, with the earthbound authenticity of folksy and pastoral music, along with the sky-soaring climaxes reminiscent of those you will find on old prog relics in your forefathers collection.

Expect to hear hard rocking guitars, a rhythm section on fire with grooves like Bonham, acoustic soundscapes, lush vocal harmonies of the male and female variety, and a wide array of flutes, organs and mellotrons, all on a track that was chosen by the band itself to act as an introduction to TCOFR.

As TCOFR explains:

With its roots in a high school lecture on Greek Mythology “Eleision Forest”, was actually the song that started the whole concept back in 1993. And from the dense woodlands of this epic,  the path of Father Robin has meandered its way the length and breadth of Airoea these last 30 years. It seems fitting, therefore that “Eleision Forest” should receive the honour of introducing the band and our album trilogy to the world.

Inspired by the classic bands and albums of the early 1970s progressive music scene, as well as  contemporary bands such as ÄNGLAGÅRD, ANEKDOTEN, WHITE WILLOW and LANDBERK,  TCOFR was formed by WOBBLER frontman Andreas W. S. Prestmo, who was joined by childhood friends Jon and Henrik, with whom Prestmo shared a joint interest in folk tales, mythology, fantasy literature, psychedelia and adventurous music.

The final pieces of the puzzle fell into place with contributions from Thomas Kaldhol (MT. MELODIÉ, THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE), Lars Fredrik Frøislie (WOBBLER, IN LINGUA MORTUA, WHITE WILLOW), folksinger Aleksandra Morozova (MT. MELODIE, OSLO PHILHARMONIC CHOIR), Kristoffer Momrak (ALWANZATAR, TUSMØRKE, LES FLEURS DU MAL), Håkon Oftung (JORDSJØ) and illustrator Lars Kvernberg.

As the title suggests,  “The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1”, is the first part of a trilogy set in the land of Airoea, and follows the story of the entity known as Father Robin, a mystical being that embodies all the members of the band. As each member met the challenges in their lives and grew as individuals, so the fantastical story of Father Robin and his travels through Airoea took shape.

The first recording sessions started at Bekk Studios in Jæren,  and the  whole of “The Songs & Tales of Airoea” Trilogy took 13 years to complete. It comprises a total of 16 songs spread out over the three albums.

“The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1” will be released on Karisma Records in CD, Digital and Black Vinyl versions, whilst Old Oak Records will release a Deluxe Limited Edition coloured triple vinyl box set.  Tracklisting is as follows:

01. Prologue
02. The Tale for Father Robin
03. Eleision Forest
04. Death of the Fair Maiden
05. Twilight Fields
06. Unicorn

LOST ZONE Premiere New Music Video for ‘Leftovers (acoustic)’ Feat. Jonas Oberstaller

Italian alternative rock trio, LOST ZONE, has shared a new music video for the acoustic version of “Leftovers”, featuring Voice Of Germany participant Jonas Oberstaller on guest vocals! All of the band’s recent and previously-released singles will be available on their upcoming, new CD edition, containing nine exclusive acoustic versions and 11 powerful rock tracks! Resilience – Full Circle will be released on July 14, 2023 via Drakkar Entertainment / Soulfood Music.

“As in the original version, on this track we’re definitely settling accounts with a few people. It is directed to all those, who only ever criticize and deal out blows, but often don’t get anything done themselves. This is our call, not to let it get you down. Who gets up more often than falling down, has actually already won!” LOST ZONE singer and guitarist Florian reveals.

Like its predecessor, the new LOST ZONE music video was shot at the Pavillon des Fleurs in Merano, South Tyrol, while the band was supported by various session musicians on the piano, violin and also on the acoustic guitar. The new video clip for “Leftovers (acoustic)”, featuring Jonas Oberstaller, is now streaming here:

Ever since LOST ZONE debuted with their first EP, followed by Resilience in March 2022, putting the band into a bracket has never been an easy task as they include influences from rock, core but also pop elements into their music. Balancing between brutal, mean riffs and heavy beats, heartfelt ballads, a cover of Linkin Park’s In The End ( with more than a half milion views to date ), between alternative rock, metal core to almost covering the musical spectrum in its entirety, subtle similarities to Bring Me The Horizon, 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park could be noticed. Florian said: „It’s impossible to fully hide our influences, but we do our very own thing.“ This is underlined by the fact that the Italian three-piece entirely writes, records and produces their music themselves and in their own studio that they built in 2017.

On July 14, 2023, the band comes full circle with their new, enthralling version of Resilience – Full Circle, the pre-sale is available at THIS LOCATION!

Resilience – Full Circle track listing:

  1. Leftovers
  2. Burst Like Dynamite
  3. Other Side
  4. Fall For You
  5. Boundaries
  6. Arrive
  7. Animal
  8. Broken Pieces (feat. Aaron Mayr)
