MASTER BOOT RECORD Release “ANSI.SYS” Guitar Playthrough

There are few truly unique musical artists, but the music made by Italian producer Victor Love as MASTER BOOT RECORD arguably exists in a category of its own. Fans of that music were finally able to see the full live band in all of its CRT and chiptune glory throughout Europe in February. Those in attendance witnessed guitarist Edoardo Taddei’s tremendous lead guitar playing, which has been put on display in a newly released guitar performance for “ANSI.SYS” from the Floppy Disk Overdrive album. Founder/producer Victor Love adds: “The live sound of MASTER BOOT RECORD is the result of combining synth guitars and chiptune leads from studio album written by myself via MIDI with live performed guitars playing in sync with them. This is especially challenging for lead guitar parts that aren’t written according to natural guitar playing positions. By combining synthesizers and real instruments (baritone guitar, lead guitar and drums) the live show of MBR is a different experience from the studio albums that are instead 100% synthesized.“

Additionally, live videos from the tour have been appearing on YouTube, including a performance of “IRQ 2 CASCADE” from Nantes, France on the band’s official channel HERE.

BLACK MOON LILITH: Releases Debut Single

Four piece progressive extreme metal band BLACK MOON LILITH hail from Southern California. The band, aged just 15 to 19 years of age have recently released their debut single ‘Moribund’. Check out the video below:

Biography:

From Ventura County, in the 805 of Southern California, Thomas Hemmens, Nathan Hokom, Jason Maser and Emrys Mellinger produce high-level, distinctive, complex, jazz-flourished metal characterized by prominent and multifarious bass, inventive and intricate drum beats, aggressive and dynamic vocals, and heavy guitar riffs with a lyrical and emotive styling.   

Hokom and Maser met in high school marching band, connecting over a shared bond of music. Maser and Hemmens studied at the same music school and had similar music preferences. The three came together to form Black Moon Lilith in February of 2021. Mellinger, attending the same music school, joined the lineup a year later.  

Black Moon Lilith crafts a unique sound—progressive extreme metal showcasing a mosaic of influences including traditional metal, black/death metal, metalcore and deathcore. 

The band has been hard at work writing an album’s worth of material, all while cutting their teeth playing shows in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. ‘Moribund’, their debut single, was released March 3, 2023, and is available on all streaming platforms.

WORDS THAT BURN Release New Album “Cut Throat Culture” on March 16th

With a release date scheduled for March 16th, WORDS THAT BURN’s new album ‘Cut Throat Culture’ will feature previously released singles, ‘Den of Lions, ‘You’re On Your Own’, ‘Fire at Will’, and ‘Play God’, as well as much more melodic heft! For fans of Parkway Drive, Archecticts, BMTH, Korn, Spiritbox.

Produced by Josh Schroeder [Lora Shore, King 810], ‘Cut Throat Culture‘  sees the rising Irish four-piece embrace a variety of styles that range from alternative, to metal-core, and electronic fusion, creating a body of work that, if anything, is totally unique to the bands core sound, as well as being a landmark release for contemporary Irish Metal.

One Pandemic, and four singles later, the band are finally gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated new studio album, ‘Cut Throat Culture’  this coming March 16th, via Blood Blast Distribution/Believe Digital.

Described by Metal Hammer as: “the heft of Parkway Drive, while elsewhere huge choruses evoke modern-day Bing Me the Horizon”, Words That Burn have created a ferocious collection of contemporary and genre-pushing compositions on this new album, including the previously released singles, ‘Den of Lions‘, ‘You’re on Your Own‘, ‘Fire at Will’, and most recent track, ‘Play God’.

The results speak for themselves. ‘Cut Throat Culture’ is jam-packed with melody, heaviness, and raw density that twists and turns, as each track blossoms into magnificent crescendos of sonic light and shade. Outside of the previously released singles, just listen to ‘To Night‘, ‘Thicker Skin‘, and ‘Michael‘ as a reference to the boundary-pushing that WTB are striving for on ‘Cut Throat Culture’ and you’ll get some insight into the direction they are moving in.

Add in powerful lyrics, and a ferocious vocal delivery that ranges from clean melodic to guttural aggression, twinned with gut-punching breakdowns, (specifically designed to launch heft missiles), and you’ve got yourself one hell of an album.

SCARLET AURA to Release First Album in Romanian “Rock in Sange si Vointa” on May 5th

SCARLET AURA, the internationally renowned heavy metal band from Romania, has announced their upcoming album “Rock in Sange si Vointa”, featuring 11 songs, which will be released on May 5th 2023 via Universal Music Romania and Silver City Records.

Scarlet Aura has been making waves in the international heavy metal scene since their inception in 2015, with a string of successful albums and electrifying live performances on extensive tours throughout Europe and Asia, and appearances with heavyweights such as Tarja Turunen, Rhapsody of Fire, Delain, and Sabaton just to name a few. Scarlet Aura’s sound is known for its distinctive blend of heavy metal, rock, and melodic elements and has earned them a dedicated following worldwide. Recent collaboration with Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear, Avantasia) and joint event “Rock United by Scarlet Aura” with Ralf and Doro Pesch in October 2022 in Bucharest strengthened their presence on heavy metal scene.

With “Rock in Sange si Vointa”, Scarlet Aura is poised to reach new heights as the band pushes their creativity to new levels, showcasing their love for their Romanian roots and passion for creating powerful, meaningful music. The album marks a significant departure from band’s previous work, as all 11 songs are fully written in Romanian, for the first time in Scarlet Aura’ career. DYSTERSOL Release Visualizer for First Song ‘Fail Better’ from Upcoming Album

On 6 April, the Austrian melodic death metallers DYSTERSOL will release their new album “Anaemic”. On it, the band tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional serial killer and focuses in the narrative on how a person, negatively influenced and too often disappointed by his environment and society, becomes a psychopath.

With “Fail Better”, a visualiser for the album opener is now available as a first taster on the MDD YouTube channel, watch below. “Anaemic” can already be pre-ordered at several retailers and mailorders.

Dark folk singer-songwriter THE DEVIL’S TRADE has teamed up with industrial noise artist JOHN CXNNOR for the recording of a brand new live album, ‘John Cxnnor X The Devil’s Trade – Live at Roadburn.’ Record at the 2022 edition of Roadburn, the album will be released on April 21, 2023 via Season of Mist (digital) and Pelagic Records (physical). In celebration, the pair is now sharing the first single, “The Call of the Doom Mons,” which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

For over two decades, Roadburn Festival has been a driving force in the international music scene. The organization, led by artistic director Walter Hoejimakers, commissions special pieces and collaborations under the motto of “Redefining Heaviness” in order to stimulate innovation and creativity in the underground music scene. The convergence of Danish electro-industrial duo John Cxnnor with Hungarian doom-folk artist The Devil’s Trade is one prime example of how powerful these collaborations can be, and those who were present at this already legendary show in Tilburg can attest to that.
