Hailing from the city of Nijmegen in the Netherlands, BISMUT is a dynamic heavy psych trio that has been carving their unique path since forming in 2016. Drawing influences from an eclectic blend of genres including progressive rock, doom, metal, stoner, heavy psych, and classic hard rock, their music is an intense and mesmerizing fusion that transcends traditional boundaries. After coming together over frustrations with the pandemic, Black Lava boiled to a nicely charred head on their debut album. Despite surfacing toward the end of 2022, ‘Soul Furnace’ burned with such fury that Distorted Sound dubbed it a contender for album of the year. The blackened riffs spilled all the way to #2 on Australia’s Independent Albums chart, while Dan Presland’s heavy grooves and blast beats melted away Sick Drummer.

Finnish-French ghost rock band THE NEARLIES releases third and final single before their upcoming sophomore album “Fresh Memories” to be released on November 17th 2023. The song “Revelations” reflect anger, frustration and fear but also hope, love and the gratifying feeling of well-deserved revenge. Melancholy is provided to the listener with a touch of humor.

The Nearlies was formed some 15 years ago in France. Future bass player and guitarist were seeking other options than excessive wine drinking for their leisure time. Starting with instrumental music they soon realised that adding vocals was compulsory to open the doors of local concert venues. After auditioning one singer it was decided that the bassist must sing. Fast-forwarding to 2019, the duo met their missing wheel, percussionist Derico Da Purificacao. Things moved rapidly and first album Ghost Rock was released in 2020. After a few years of practising and brainstorming, maybe a few bottles of wine, comes Fresh Memories in autumn 2023. It’s a collection of melodies and thoughts they have gone through with these complicated times On the more serious note, the guitarist had some experience from years before, playing with Mama & The Darkbreakers in early 90’s in Pohjanmaa and late 90’s with B-fly in Helsinki.

Italian Legendary SADIST Working on New Studio Album, Coming in 2024

Italy’s prog/death innovators SADIST have completed the songwriting process for their new studio album, the tenth of their career. Following the well-acclaimed “Firescorched”, released in 2022, the new album promises to be even more aggressive, both musically and lyrically. The band will enter the recording studio in late 2023, with the album due for a 2024 release on Agonia Records.

SADIST started out in the early nineties, having emerged from Genoa in Italy. The band went ahead of its time, with an adventurous take on the then-developing progressive death metal subgenre. Its presence was firmly established through an unmistakable style, detectable since the debut installment “Above The Light” from 1993, as well as following albums: “Tribe” (1995) and “Crust” (1997). After the release of “Lego” (2000), which brought about a temporary shift towards the avant-grade/core spectrum of the genre, SADIST went on a hiatus. The band returned to its proven sonic formula in 2005, having put out four studio albums since, and continues to maintain its epic take on death metal, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern elements.

SADIST played before huge crowds as a support act and opener for such iconic bands as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer or Motorhead, guesting at Olympic stadiums and gaining exposure at high-profile metal festivals as Wacken Open Air (1998), Gods Of Metal (2006 & 2010) or Hellfest (2010). In 2019 the band toured Europe with I Am Morbid, Vital Remains and Atrocity. This year alone, SADIST shared the stage with Samael, Pantera, Dark Tranquility and Sepultura.
