Finnish rockers LEAFLET will be releasing their sophomore album “Something Beyond” this coming January 2023 via Rockshots Records. The album follows their debut album “Outta Door” released through VR Label Finland in 2017.
The band has shared their second single “Resonate” accompanied by a music video.
The band comments about the track: “‘Resonate is a song about a person who goes through an out-of-body experience realizing life is short and one has to live it while it lasts. This song is a reminder for us all in our daily grind that life is supposed to be enjoyed. Resonate was mainly composed in the heat of the day and thunderstorm of the night while visiting Bangalore, India. I am sure some of that atmosphere got subconsciously translated into the song as well.“
The band comments on “Something Beyond”: “With this album, we are definitely showing that rock music is alive and pumping! The album is full of catchy metal-influenced rock tunes that would fit perfectly in the heavy rotation of every rock radio station. The album has a lot of variety within the songs and we got a diverse selection of singles as well. Three very different singles trying to represent the entire album as well as possible. As singles, we got one heavy and hard-hitting tune, one straightforward and super catchy tune, and one fast-paced in-your-face type of tune. You should check out them all to see what you think! “
Track Listing: 1. Gonna Do It – 4:12 2. Resonate – 3:40 3. Alone Alive – 3:50 4. Earth – 3:54 5. Johnny Two-Face – 4:01 6. Tattoos of Life – 3:43 7. Shades of Black – 2:55 8. Someone Somewhere – 3:51 9. Something Beyond – 4:48 Album Length: 34:59
Formed in 2013, LEAFLET is a four-piece hard rock band from Turku, Finland. Their music can be described as metal-infused American-style hard rock and while you might hear echoes of bands like Alter Bridge or Shinedown they have their own unique Nordic flavour. “Our musical cocktail is a blend of many things. Although we love the 80s, we are trying to keep our hard rock fresh and not follow the retro route”, the band says.
The band has performed on Finnish festivals such as Kuopiorock and Saaristo Open Air along with touring across their home country to support their debut album. They also spent time on the road in the Baltics with Willie & the Goodsouls in 2018 again playing clubs and festivals.
In 2019, LEAFLET released “Johnny Two-Face” as a single through VR Label Finland followed by an ambitious music video shot in both Turku, Finland, and Tokyo, Japan. After a couple of years of silence due to the pandemic, the band is now back with their second album “Something Beyond” to be released by Rockshots Records in January 2023, sounding stronger than ever.
Over the last years and with 4 albums under their belt, ATENA have proven to be the fore fronters of Norwegian metalcore with their relentless mix of heavy guitars, electronic samples and hip-hop influences. Now the 4-piece is finally back with new music and shows us another side with their new track mixed and mastered by the highly proclaimed Swedish producer Henrik Udd (Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Dayseeker).
ATENA states: “Usually, we’re not in control of how any of our songs end up and Slip Away is a perfect example of that. While writing it became clear that it was very much about reminiscing the past and the melancholy of those last sunny days in the fall.”
ATENA are: Vebjørn Iversen – Guitar Jakob Skogli – Vocals Ulrik Linstad – Bass Fredrik Kåsin – Drums
Toronto, Canada’s Nihilist Death Cult have its first album coming out this year, and to get listeners riled up they are releasing the video for the single “You Get What You Deserve” ft. a guest solo from Ian Mumble (Overthrow). Each of the nine tracks on the album is a shot of adrenaline in the veins of old-school punk rock and hardcore that take heavy riffs and slam them into relevant lyrics that you’ll want to sing along with. The single is directed to those who are always talking shit but never do anything:
Your once proud moment is all in the past, what have you done all these years?” – the band comments further:
“Instead of writing more technical and trying to be complicated, we took the opposite approach and focused on the riffs, having strong catchy riffs was important to us, we were never worried about song lengths or slowing down, or having a soft mellow part in the middle section like most bands do… these songs are deliberately short and intense to capture the anger and hate in the mood of the songs… to keep the pace relentless… an execution to the songs with a “no compromise” attitude”. This should appeal to most fans of music I’ve done in the past, whether it be Overthrow, Soulstorm, or Tribe of Pazuzu… I feel it still retains my writing style while also expressing another facet/feel of my writing… my writing has always been on the darker side with anger and hate mixed in for attitude… I want to bring that back to punk and metal, the hate, anger, fire… relentless fast music.”
Vocalist/bassist Nick Sagias started NDC in 2018 after ending his previous band Soulstorm. This new effort should appeal to most fans of music he’s done in the past, whether it be Overthrow, Soulstorm, or Tribe of Pazuzu. He feels that it still retains his writing style while also expressing another facet of his creativity, it’s still dark and full of anger and hate mixed in for attitude. He channels that into his punk and metal hate, anger, fire… relentless fast music that is recommended for fans of early DRI, early Bad Brains, and Nails.
The music video for “You Get What You Deserve” can be seen and heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

With their enticing third single, Siberian dark folklore frontrunners NYTT LAND finally unveil their new EP, Ritual: Blood of the West, coming out today, November, 18 22022. “The Blues of Ragnarok”, was originally released on their latest album Ritual, and has been reworked in western-inspired ways. Releasing the new transformation of the song, the duo combines their captivating signature throat singing with rhythmic sounds, matching guitar riffs and melodic elements, immediately drawing the listener into its ethereal soundscape.
NYTT LAND state on “The Blues Of Ragnarok”: “I think we made the best soundtrack for Ragnarok. Drink your moonshine and let’s go dancing with the spirits under the big silver moon.”
Following their traditions and connection to nature, NYTT LAND directs its powers toward a new territory, leaving behind the rough lands of the north and embarking on a sonic journey in five transfixing songs. NYTT LAND ventures into dark, western frontiers with their upcoming EP, Ritual: Blood of the West, to be released digitally via Napalm Records on November 18, 2022. Based on tracks from their latest album, Ritual, that has been reworked in gothic folk and western-inspired styles. Staying thematically faithful to ancient legends and adapting to the temperate sounds of the west, opening song “Dark Country Ritual” not only displays NYTT LAND’s dedication to their own legacy, but opens the EP with an enchanting, ambient new sound, rising and falling like smoke. On “Song of U-Gra” the band flexes its trademark vocal approach with summoning chants that gently carry the listener away to another mental state, conveying more tranquil versions of the originals without losing their depth and ancient thematic significance. “Dead Man’s Ballad” tells its story like a coyote howling at the moon, offering a mysterious yet soothing blend of guitar and vocals that reinterpret the band’s dark folk essence. “Blood of the West” closes the EP with acoustic guitar instrumentals that summon the spirits of the west and leaves the listener enchanted, induced in the serene, ancient sounds of the grasslands.
NYTT LAND on the new EP: “We’ve said many times that country and blues music are some of our favorite music genres. This EP is our tribute and memory to those great musicians who stood at the very origins of American country and blues music, those whose music inspires us daily. For us, working on this album has become the most unusual, but at the same time extremely interesting experience. And we really love that we did it!”
Tracklist: 1. Dark Country. Ritual 2. The Blues of Ragnarok 3. Dead Man’s Ballad 4. Song of U-Gra 5. Blood of the West
