‘Metermaid’ is a song about a drug addict who leaves his kid strapped in the car. Regret in a moment that can’t be undone. The song is confronting and brutally honest as its story unfolds.

Hyperdrive Stereo consists of Mat Robins and Mark Robins from Australian band, Cicadastone, actor/writer/producer/comedian/musician, Jason Gann, (best known for his role as the title character in the Australian comedy series ‘Wilfred,’ and the U.S. reboot of the same name), and Agostino Soldati.

The Voice of Finland 2020 Winner, JUFFI’s Emotional Debut Self-Published Solo Single, ‘Watch Forever’, Out Now

“Interpreter of emotions about life and the surrounding world!”

JUFFI is the winner of The Voice of Finland in 2020 and has recorded three songs with Universal Music Finland. He is currently a freelance artist. He composes and writes most of his songs himself. Juffi is an interpreter of emotions and the lyrics are mostly inspired from life and the surrounding world. Juffi’s first self-published song ‘Watch Forever’ is released today, September 28th. Musical producer Janne Väätämöinen. Single cover photo by Samu Aaramaa.

Stream and order ‘Watch Forever’ at Spotify or on YouTube:

About the process of making the song, Juffi reveals:
“The midsummer of 2020 I was with a small group of people by a lake in a cottage. A question came up to list three things You could watch forever. One of us said a sleeping child, streaming water and flaming fire. We all agreed and I asked for permission to write a song about these things. I presented the demo to Janne Väätämöinen and then we started to work on it. ‘Watch forever’ happens to be my first song as a freelancer solo artist. This was also the first time I worked with Janne and I learned a lot of new things. I am very pleased with the end result and hopefully all the listeners will agree.”

Janne:
“When I first got the demo containing the synth, piano and vocal track, the song’s birth story and the child mentioned in the lyrics first brought sensitivity to my mind. I thought we would make a delicate piano ballad out of the song. However, getting better acquainted with the lyrics and due to the bold feeling they bring, we wanted the song to be rugged. On the other hand, I wanted it to have sensitivity and elements of more modern pop and a stadium rock type of mood. Hopefully, the listener will also hear these nuances in the song, and its atmosphere — through the music and lyrics — will take you to the flames of the campfire and the smoky national landscape.”

More about Janne Väätämöinen (photo below):
Janne Väätämöinen is a Finnish musician, guitar teacher and music producer who worked and played in the great progressive metal band Fireproven between 2006 and 2022. Little by little, he has started working as a music producer and recording engineer in his own home studio — Juffi’s single ‘Watch forever’ as his biggest project.

We’re not rich or super famous…
…but we do things with a big heart.

Summer 2022 rock bands GENTLE SAVAGE, MANZANA and RYLOS joined forces to play a bunch of shows together during the upcoming Winter season 2022-2023.

These combo evenings go by the name ‘THE ROAD TO NEON WAYLAY’!

The idea was to tour together and to bring the music to the places where the ’local people’ are; at the small music clubs & bars in the dark corners of every village.

And to be a part of something bigger, to offer something more than just a one band per night experience and to build something that’s called collaboration without selfishness.

With the first shows behind, it’s easy to say that the recipe is good.

Video teaser:

Here’s what the lead vocalists say about the project:

Mikko Heino / Rylos
“There is a strange likeness between these three bands although every band has it’s own sound and style”.

Tornado Bearstone / Gentle Savage
“We have the same passion, integrity and loyalty to what we are and what we do”.

Piritta Lumous / Manzana
“We write and play to our kind; the poor, the misunderstood and the passionate ones”.

So if YOU don’t buy what the others say, let our music speak to YOU and we’ll share the same language.

Upcoming shows:
7.10.2022 Bar’kki, Anjala
8.10.2022 Haukka, Kotka
20.1.2023 Maanalainen, Tampere
21.1.2023 Totem, Lappeenranta

See you on the Road To Neon Waylay!

Melodic metallers LANKESTER MERRIN from Lower Saxony have signed with Black Sunset/MDD! In the coming spring, the quintet around frontwoman Cat Rogers will release the follow-up to their, in April 2021, self-released debut “Upon the Forgotten”.

Musically, the band has taken a big step forward with their upcoming album, which was recorded and produced at the Institut für Wohlklangforschung in Hanover (a.o. Drone, Grail Nights), and has already secured the attention of Black Sunset/MDD with the first acoustic tasters.

You can expect a mature melodic metal album with powerful songs that have a lot of catchy tune potential and a big breeze of power metal, without – despite being female fronted – drifting into symphonic metal. Be prepared, more info coming soon!

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION Announce Self-Titled Debut Album, Out November 25th

After signing with international rock and metal empire Napalm Records and the successful subsequent release of their breakout first single, “Wolf or Lamb”, Germany’s hottest upstarts LEAGUE OF DISTORTION are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their hard-hitting self-titled debut album, set for release on November 25, 2022! Featuring powerhouse members Anna “Ace” Brunner (Exit Eden) and Jim “Arro” Müller (Kissin’ Dynamite), the unit reveals their explosive potential without ever holding back!

Now, they unleash their relentless second single, “My Revenge”, consisting of modern melodic rhythms and technical prowess topped with vocal dynamics poised to drop jaws. Having mercilessly flipped the metal scene upside down, their explosive second single shows exactly that: a defying sound with dashing drums and heavy, prominent guitar riffs crowned by Anna’s unique, war cry vocals.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION on “My Revenge”:
“This 2nd song goes out to everyone who can relate to the first lines. We’ve taken too much, but we are not passive anymore. Don’t drown in darkness, be as bright and as different as you can be and set fire to the sun!”

A new force, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION unite to defeat the shadows cast upon the music scene with their fresh sound and style! Back in 2017, Anna Brunner celebrated remarkable international success with her symphonic metal band Exit Eden, and now, has teamed up with notorious guitarist Jim Müller of renowned heavy metal band Kissin’ Dynamite. Together, they’ve formed one of the hottest new modern metal bands of the year, combining their signature sounds to create a powerful soundscape. Now, they are ready to fight the darkness yet again with their 2022 full-length, self-titled debut album, League of Distortion.

Lifting the dark veil of stagnation caused by the pandemic, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION introduce a new sound that resonates with the uncertainty of this period. “Wolf or Lamb” – the addictive first stand-alone single that introduced the band as a force to be reckoned with – ignites the fire of the full album. “Rebel By Choice” and “The Bitter End” show the band’s burning passion and dedication to the genre, while “My Revenge” convinces with a catchy hook and bashing guitar riffs. The elemental force of Anna “Ace” Brunner’s distorted, powerful voice merged with chunky riffs played by Jim “Arro” Müller, steady and strong beats delivered by Tino “Aeon” Calmbach and edgy bass by Felix “Ax” Rehmann unifies them, forming a strong blast of an album that cannot be missed! LEAGUE OF DISTORTION showcase the individual musical expertise of its members without ever becoming stagnant or pretentious – unabashedly distorting the order and launching a new age of metal. Songs like “I’m A Bitch” and “It Hurts So Good” abandon all rules, while catchy hooks like in “L.O.D.” mark anthems to claim their new reign. With songs like “Solitary Confinement” and “Sin”, the band shows their lyrical depth by turning their sadness into a powerful war cry, providing expressive pieces and hymns for the lost.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION convince with classic pieces featuring strong instrumentals, on-the-nose lyrics and energetic vocals, proving their penchant to stand out from the pack. They’ve transformed their frustration into a musical statement beyond comparison. With “Do You Really Think I Fucking Care”, the band lands the final punch of the album to make the message clear: LEAGUE OF DISTORTION are here to set the scene ablaze!

The band on their debut album:
“With this debut album, we lay the cornerstone of LEAGUE OF DISTORTION. Processing the cruel and capricious reality, with straight-forward, provocative and very personal topics, we are distorting perspective and creating tremendously powerful music. LEAGUE OF DISTORTION is here to stay and we welcome you to be a part of this from the very beginning.”

FOSCOR Share Cover of ALICE IN CHAINS Song ‘Would’

Catalan atmospheric metal band FOSCOR are now sharing a unique and haunting cover of ALICE IN CHAINS‘ iconic song, “Would?” The single is a tribute to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the grunge band’s seminal album, ‘Dirt,’ which was released on September 29, 1992. The song can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

The band comments on the cover:

“Despite not having a direct impact in Foscor’s music in its conception, Alice in Chains clearly was a life changing act and soundtrack during our youth days, while Black Metal was about to cover everything we knew in majestic darkness from then on. As mentioned months ago, we haven’t had the chance of properly celebrating our 20th anniversary, and to face it from another angle, we thought that would be fantastic to work with some classics in order to connect with you all.

“Working with Jaime on drums for this hymn, and another surprise yet to come, is something paying justice to a long time friend and collaborator since his work for 2018’s album ‘Les Irreals Versions,’ covering ourselves. Note that this ‘Would?’ version is not a simple cover as most of you know them, but a work on rearranging the music and even vocal lines to try showing respect and gratitude from our hearts.

“Ten years after ‘Dirt’ was released, Foscor began its own path, and now that Alice in Chains celebrates this album’s 30th anniversary, we feel fair to pay our humble tribute to one of the most iconic songs from 90’s, and a band that easily made us better and deeper in terms of how expressing emotions with our music within the recent years with Season of Mist. Hope you enjoy and share the celebration! To all of us, and for many more years of tragic darkness…”

All FOSCOR albums and merch can be ordered HERE.

The Catalans return with the second chapter of the trilogy initiated with “Les Irreals Visions” in 2017, yet strongly connected to the fin de siècle cultural movement of Modernisme – a parallel development to Art Nouveau and Jugendstil among others. Visual things must acquire a new secret appearance, and with ‘Els Sepulcres Blancs’ FOSCOR treats poetically how facing a change of a sick world and society through the land of dreams.

The title translates as “The White Tombs”, a metaphor for that world of dreams and expectations where humans chained to reality may die and born free to imagine a better one.

FOSCOR hail from Catalonia, and take inspiration from the morbid, decadent, and sick reflections on a rapidly changing society, as the artistic landscape at the end of the nineteenth century shaped.

The name FOSCOR translates as “darkness” in their native Catalan tongue, which the band from Barcelona uses for their lyrics as a distinctive element and strong connection with their cultural reality.

The Catalans’ first two albums, ‘Entrance to the Shadows’ Village’ (2004), ‘The Smile of the Sad Ones’ (2007) wrapped a shroud of classic second wave black metal around a melancholic yet vital core. ‘Groans to the Guilty’ (2009) witnessed FOSCOR setting out towards more progressive and avant-garde course, but it was next full-length ‘Those Horrors Wither’ (2014) which marked a clear departure from the black metal. Darkness found an equally strong expression through the use of very personal clean vocals, tempo reduction and atmosphere.

In 2017, FOSCOR took another step in their constantly changing and shifting evolution. The brand new release ‘Les Irreals Visions’ (2017) was easily drawing its eager audience in, only to lure the unwary listener into a dark labyrinth of unexpected complexity filled with beauty and sorrow. In 2018, FOSCOR explored these lines between reality, poetry and the beyond even further with a special digital release transforming their own music into a so intimate experience; ‘Les Irreals Versions’ (2018).

Now, 2019 promises to be as tragic as their music claims with the so sensitive release of ‘Els Sepulcres Blancs’, its characteristic melancholic sonic aura and catchy riffing intensity. Their most personal and delicate sound achievement to date.
