LUCIFER Sign With Nuclear Blast Records

Acclaimed multinational heavy rock group LUCIFER is proud to announce that they have joined the ranks of NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. Since its inception in 2014, the highly prolific band led by charismatic singer Johanna Platow Andersson has put out four electrifying albums and several stand-alone singles infused with 1970s hard rock, proto heavy metal, doom and occult rock, with a nod to their main influences such as BLACK SABBATH, PENTAGRAM, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, (early) HEART & FLEETWOOD MAC. They have played about 200 shows in the US, Canada, Japan and Europe, including the KISS Kruise, Psycho Las Vegas, Hellfest, MetalDays, Sweden Rock and Desertfest and two of their shows have been recorded and broadcasted by well-established German national TV program Rockpalast. LUCIFER have been nominated twice for a Swedish Grammy in the category ‘Best Hardrock/Metal Album’ and they have graced the cover of US metal magazine, Decibel.

LUCIFER are currently working on their fifth album, V, the first one to be released by their new label, Nuclear Blast. Stay tuned for more info!

Johanna Platow Andersson comments:
“We in LUCIFER are very excited to roll up our sleeves and begin the group’s next chapter. Having grown up a metal kid since the early 90s, Nuclear Blast has always been a staple of the music I love. We are thrilled LUCIFER and Nuclear Blast are now joining forces to release our version of Heavy Rock out into the world and hopefully straight into the hearts of those who love sincere and very morbid old fashioned rock and roll!”

Jens Prüter, Head Of A&R Nuclear Blast Europe adds:
“It’s a pleasure to welcome LUCIFER at Nuclear Blast Records. We already met several times and it’s great to see the band growing from an underground doom scene into a bigger force in hard rock – like an unholy wedding of FLEETWOOD MAC and BLACK SABBATH aiming to “lay your soul to waste” and set the “cities on flame with Rock and Roll”. Thanks, LUCIFER!”

LUCIFER Live In 2022:

07/29 QStock, Oulu, FIN
08/03 Beyond The Gates, Bergen, NO
08/04 Time To Rock Festival, Knislinge, SWE
08/05 Wacken Open Air, DE

Italian metalheads DRABIK release today ‘Parasite’, a powerful and punching new song produced by Lacuna Coil’s bass player Maki. This song is the second one to anticipate a new album entitled “Mannequin” coming on September 23rd through Volcano Records & Promotion, and is available on all digital platforms including Spotify.

The band also released a lyric video on YouTube that well represents the ruthless atmosphere in which they want to lead us with Parasite. If you are looking for something new and exciting in the metal universe, do not miss a unique band and this tune that combines attitude and a huge wall of sound with an intense and deep travel in the land of the unknown. Do not fight the parasite inside your mind, let it be your guide.

MOLDER Stream New Album “Engrossed in Decay” in Full

Crawling out of Chicago, IL’s most decrepit corners and boneyards, MOLDER are today premiering their new album, Engrossed in Decay, via Metal Injection. Engrossed in Decay is the sophomore full-length from the death metal trio and first to be released via Prosthetic Records since inking a deal in 2021.

LISTEN TO ENGROSSED IN DECAY IN FULL VIA METAL INJECTION HERE.

Engrossed in Decay will be available on all streaming platforms this Friday (July 15).
Pre-order the album here.

Speaking on the album announcement and track premiere MOLDER comments: “Calling all mutants and freaks!! We’re proud to report Engrossed In Decay is officially available to stream in full. That’s right, creeps! That’s 10 brand new skull-smashing hymns, sure to leave your head scattered all over the floor, and your brains painted on the ceiling. At last, Engrossed In Decay is here in full- to infest your ears, and fester forever. This record is the culmination of two dismal years in isolation, smoking weed, dropping acid and writing sick shit. Hope you enjoy listening to the album as much as we enjoyed writing it.”

Conceptually, Engrossed in Decay collects the sonic aesthetics of in-song samples, death-obsessed lyrics, and colorful mucus and blood themes into a cohesively gross package. This is the type of gift found in medical waste repositories or in the aftermath of a kitchen knife rampage. One look at the cover illustrated by Lucas Korte (Blood Incantation, Tomb Mold), and MOLDER’s sordid intentions are immediately evident. This is blood-curdling, gore-hurling death metal from graves licentiously disturbed.

Recorded at Studio Novy with Cheyenne Brandt (Vanished Cadavers, and Chicago Metal Hell Vol 2), Cianide’s Scott Carroll joined the sessions as steward before the final mix went to Philadelphia-based mastering ace Arthur Rizk (Creeping Death, Temple of Void). The result is an engrossing experience, nasty to the touch yet riveting like a chainsaw battle. Glutinous Remains, Chemically Dissolved, Huff the Stench, and the title track are prime examples of MOLDER’s choicest, meatiest cuts.

The next phase of MOLDER’s depraved death metal domination will commence after Engrossed in Decay is unleashed upon metaldom. Until then, they’ll fester wildly in and around Chicago, with the rest of North America suffering perversely with a full-scale bloodbath later in 2022.

You’ve been warned! MOLDER are coming for you, their stomach-churning, mortifying corpses in full-on attack mode.

Engrossed in Decay tracklist:

1. Glutinous Remains
2. Engrossed in Decay
3. Relentless Pestilence
4. Chemically Dissolved
5. Disinhumed Carcass Revived
6. Huff the Stench
7. Unsubstantial Hallucinations
8. Ghastly Mutations
9. Decomposed Embryos
10. Cask of Maggots

WITHERED recently released signature distortion pedal! Guitarist Mike Thompson teamed up with Michael Klein Audio Design out of Kansas City, MO to build a signature distortion pedal named “Husk,” which is designed for all the tone stackers out there.

Thompson also designed the cosmetics himself, combining a vintage military feel with an ethereal/mystic graphics to capture the “moods” of the pedal.

Husk Features:

  • Selectable “then” (NOS Japanese 1S1588) and “now” clipping diodes to choose between saturation used on older Withered albums and newer albums.
  • The bottom row of knobs are a circuit inspired by the classic MIJ DS-1 with high quality/low tolerance components – precision metal film resistors, WIMA caps, MLCC caps, and Nichicon Fine Gold capacitors supporting a Toshiba TA7136P Opamp.
  • The top row is Thompson’s collection of “do my bidding” controls: a clean blend to pepper in some clarity without losing gain, an output boost to keep the dirty tone louder than “pedal off” tone no matter how much you scoop the mids, and a no-fucks-given low pass filter to tame the nastiness however you like.
  • 2 different colored “on” LED’s for a “military control panel” look and max visibility on stage.

Photos of the Husk Distortion Pedal can be found HERE.

Artist Paul Romano (MASTODON, HATE ETERNAL, etc.) gave an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the unique album art for ‘Verloren!’ Both Romano and WITHERED vocalist/guitarist Mike Thompson give in-depth interviews about the concept, working together, and more in this detailed article, which is accompanied by an exclusive video clip and photos! The self-titled release that has been out of print for over 10 years has been mastered for vinyl by Patrick Engel (Temple of Disharmony) and features brand new artwork and packaging.

IF THESE TREES COULD TALK self-titled EP is now available for pre-order and will be available as a Digipak and with multiple vinyl variants at: metalblade.com/ifthesetreescouldtalk

01. Malabar Front
02. Smoke Stacks

04. Signal Tree
05. The Death of Paradigm
06. 41°4’23n, -81°31’4w

TOTAL RUNNING TIME: 32:01:00

“If These Trees Could Talk is a band with a slightly heavier sound which is often compared to bands like Joy Wants Eternity, Red Sparowes or even Explosions In The Sky at their heaviest. Highly recommended for fans of the bands mentioned and Post-Rock in general.” progarchives.com

“With a sound reminiscent of Mogwai and Russian Circles, the band’s delay-heavy sound is constantly exploring sonic peaks and valleys as the band’s three-guitar attack surrounds listeners in a swirling sea of sparkling sound.” postart.rocks

Lineup:
Tom Fihe – bass guitar
Jeff Kalal – guitar
Cody Kelly – guitar
Mike Socrates – guitar
Zack Kelly – drums

If Detroit, Michigan gave us the automobile, then Akron, Ohio gave us the tire. At one point, home to B.F. Goodrich, Firestone, General Tire, and Goodyear, the Rubber City played a large part in the advance of the auto industry. Times have changed, but Akronites continue to move forward with their intrepid spirit. This is particularly true for acclaimed IF THESE TREES COULD TALK, whose wondrous, coruscating sounds have captured not only legions of adoring fans, but also the attention of celebrated chef Chris Santos, who in turn played the group for friend and Metal Blade label guru Brian Slagel.

“Santos played some of our stuff to Brian Slagel,” says IF THESE TREES COULD TALK in slight disbelief. “Slagel sent us a tweet, and after a couple of months of back and forth, we were on Metal Blade! Still crazy to think back to that, but that’s how it went down.“

As part of inking a deal with Metal Blade, debut full-length Above the Earth, Below the Sky (2009) and its lauded successor Red Forest (2012) were re-issued, allowing new fans to encounter IF THESE TREES COULD TALK‘s sonic splendor without having to resort to aftermarket prices. And although Above the Earth, Below the Sky and Red Forest have sold over 30,000 copies prior to landing on Metal Blade, the Ohioans are looking to expand the footprint of the band. This includes the continuation of the organic growth strategies they’ve employed since forming in 2005, leveraging Metal Blade’s marketing resources, and more licensing of songs to game and television studios.

“We always love hearing how people interpret our music,” the band reveals. “One of the great things about being an instrumental band is that it breaks down the language barrier that some bands can have. It reaches across so many lines and evokes so many different feelings that it means something different to everyone. To us, that is one of the single greatest things about what we do. We don’t interpret the music to the fans. They interpret it back to us.“
