MAERZFELD have signed a deal with Metalville Records, announcing also their new single “Lange Nicht” which will be released on 21.04.22 + the tour of the same name will start on 05 May.
Stylistically, the band can be classified as “Neue Deutsche Härte”.
Since their formation in 2009, the band from Nuremberg has continuously conquered a steadily growing fan base.
The band’s name is derived from the March Field, which served as an army assembly point under the Merovingians. The name is also meant to symbolise a field that has to be worked and tended every year in March. The band sees this as a metaphor for life, in which one can only achieve one’s goals through effort and work.
Singer Heli wanted to set some of his lyrics, which were lying in a drawer, to music. This is how the idea for Maerzfeld came about in October 2009 and is realised shortly afterwards with the musicians Matthias Sitzmann (guitar),Thilo Weber (keyboards), Thomas Buchberger (drums), Roland Hagen (guitar) and Samir Elflein (bass).
In March 2011, the band released their first 3 songs as a maxisingle, followed by the debut album “Tief” in November of the same year, which earned high praise from fans and critics. The single “La petite mort” climbs directly into the German Alternative Charts at number 7 in 2013.
The albums “Fremdkörper” (2013), “Ungleich” (2017) and “Zorn” (2019) follow, all of which are also very well received.
After various line-ups, MAERZFELD now consists of Heli Reißenweber (vocals), Mike Sitzmann (guitar), Jochen Windisch (guitar), Ron Huber (piano/keys) and Michael Frischbier (drums). The musicians are currently working on new songs for the 5th studio album.
Already on 21.04. the first single “Lange Nicht” will be released by the band’s new label, Metalville Records. The song is also the title of the tour of the same name, which starts on 05 May. Various festival appearances will follow in the summer, before the band will embark on a big European tour together with “Eisbrecher” in April 2023.

Last week, the Polish masters of death metal have announced their upcoming album “Cancer Culture” for May 27th and teased their fans with the title track. Now its time to deliver a stunning video for the song – just in time for their UK tour!
Mastermind Vogg comments on the video: “The video was filmed last December in Płock, Poland. This time we have teamed up with Mateusz Winkiel, the Director of Mania Studio, with who we have worked closely on the complete scenario. It was a good experience, and I hope our fans will appreciate the final effect of the work and an important message we tried to conclude in this picture.”
Vogg continues: ““It wasn’t easy to pick the first single from “Cancer Culture”. Each song has this different vibe that we would like to show as soon as possible and be proud of. Since the “Cancer Culture” is the first song from the album, we decided that this would be the perfect way to introduce you to new music. It is the album’s opening chapter, and you know, what you can expect.”
The band is also pleased to announce re-scheduled Irish/UK dates for their 25th Anniversary Tour, which was recently postponed due to the ongoing pandemic situation. The masterly death metallers will hit the stages throughout this March and April, accompanied by new special guests Signs Of The Swarm and Harbinger.
Trivium singer and guitarist Matthew Kiichi Heafy has shared another song from Rashomon, the long-awaited and much-anticipated album from his IBARAKI project.
Watch the video for the song “Rōnin,” which features My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way and Ihsahn, here.
“‘A rōnin is a masterless warrior,” shares Kiichi. “The final two full compositions on Rashōmon see a significant shift musically. The album as a whole — with the exception of the intro and outro — is actually presented in chronological order of earliest written to latter-most. The actual guitar and bass tracks are a time-capsule of sorts in that their parts — on the final album — is actually from the year they were tracked.”
He continues, “One can begin to see the shifts as the years went on for the writing of the album. ‘Kagutsuchi’/’Ibaraki-doji’ being written and tracked in 2010/2011, all the way up to ‘Rōnin’/’Susanoo No Mikoto’ being written and tracked in 2016/2017.”
As for his collaboration with Way, Kiichi shares, “Gerard Way has been a long-time inspiration for me — like Ihsahn and Nergal — I have looked to Gerard as a constant source of motivation to be creative. While Gerard and I may be from different genres than where Ibaraki and black metal stem from — outsiders of sorts — the spirit and intent of our performances is what unites our passion for pushing boundaries.”
Rashomonwill be released May 6 via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order Rashomon on CD, vinyl, cassette, and T-Shirt + CD bundle here. Fans can get all the released songs by pre-saving here.
Next-generation rock band CLASSLESS ACT just dropped a new track with The Darkness lead guitarist and singer Justin Hawkins, titled “This Is For You” via Better Noise Music. The band is also premiering an official music video for the new song. Released in time for spring and summer playlists, the band’s latest upbeat, yet heartwrenching track features a killer guitar solo from Hawkins. With lyrics like “I’ve been a fool for you right from the start, I’d even give you this song if it would please you, And if it ain’t enough, here’s my bleeding heart,” the single is both therapeutic and anthemic. Quickly rising to stardom, the Los Angeles-based group has received co-signs from iconic and legendary acts like Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Posion, as they are opening on all three bands’ summer stadium tour later this year. But first, they’ll complete their North American tour with Dorothy this spring, which kicked off earlier this week in San Diego. The new single also continues the momentum set by 2021’s “Give It To Me” which saw the band gain attention from the likes of SPIN Magazine, Loudwire, and more. “This Is For You (featuring Justin Hawkins)” is now available to stream and download across platforms HERE.
Classless Act’s lead singer Derek Day expressed his excitement over the band’s latest single, saying, “It’s a dream come true for Classless Act to be a part of the Better Noise family. And the boys and I have been working really hard to give you something to shake your ass to. Now, summer’s here and the time is right for a couple of guitars, some bass and drums and a whole buncha me. Let’s get to it!!”
Collaborator Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts about hopping on the track, “One Tuesday night in February I gazed up onto the Swiss night sky. There, to my surprise I witnessed the beaming of The Hawk signal onto a passing cloud. After months of inactivity, I was called into action. My mission? To provide a face melting guitar solo to Classless Act’s ‘This is For You.’ I grasped my Gibson 335, headed into the hawk cave and within 24 hours the solo was born.”
The official music video for “This Is For You (featuring Justin Hawkins),” also released today, part two in a four-part series that loosely follows the band as they set the soundtrack for the misadventures of Farley; an unlucky soul who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Directed by John Orphan, the visual is available to watch HERE.
As for other support from established artists, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee was an early follower of the band and is excited to have them join him and his bandmates on the road this summer, saying, the following in a statement last month: “I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20 thousand people every f***ing night! Since then, we’ve always felt it was importance of helping new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others. This summer we’re gonna help out Classless Act. They’re gonna sh*t their pants.”
The new track will appear on the band’s debut album set for release later this year. For more information on the band’s touring, and to purchase tickets, visit https://classlessact.com/#tour. Full list of upcoming tour dates are below.

Slightly more than two years ago, VESSEL OF LIGHT had released three album in two years and the band were performing East Coast shows. Then Corona hit. Vessel Of Light used this time to release their fourth album in three years (Last Ride on California’s Nomad Eel Records). The band also recorded the Jimi Hendrix cover Foxy Lady. Watch the video below.
Foxy Lady got airtime on Sirius/XM, but the band were forced to cancel their much anticipated appearance at The Maryland Doom Fest.
Guitarist Dan Lorenzo said, “I was extremely disappointed VOL couldn’t play the Maryland Doom Fest, but (vocalist) Nathan (Opposition) was in the middle of moving from Cleveland to Austin. I had never written so much music before and it’s frustrating to me when the music just sits there.”
Lorenzo didn’t stop and his VOL bandmates Jimmy Schulman and Ron Lipnicki joined him along with Dangerous Toys vocalist Jason McMaster to record and release Cassius King Field Trip. Lorenzo kept writing and in addition to working on the 2nd Cassius King formed Patriarchs In Black with former Type O Negative/current Danzig drummer Johnny Kelly.
Lorenzo continued, “I was finalizing my guitar parts at JROD Productions in Pomona, NY recently when JROD showed me a video of his band Return To Darkness that this dude Craig Cefola had made for him. I was blown away and reached out to Craig to make a video for Patriarchs In Black. While I’m waiting to show the world that, I had Craig make a video for Vessel Of Light Foxy Lady. Foxy Lady isn’t available digitally-it was only released as a 7″ single on vinyl on Nomad Eel.”
