LIPS TURN BLUE, Formerly DDrive, Sign Worldwide Deal with Mig Records, Debut Album Coming

LIPS TURN BLUE, formerly known in the Upstate New York region as the popular club act, DDRIVE, have regrouped and returned with a new name, a brilliant debut album, a world-wide record contract, and a new member in singer/musician Iggy  Marino. The band (nicknamed LTB) which also includes guitarist Don Mancuso, keyboardist Eric Bieber, bassist Mike Mullane, and drummer Roy Stein are currently preparing for the release of its new album and some select concert dates.

Pre-orders / pre saves available here: https://lipsturnblue.lnk.to/justpush

The group’s first single, “Just Push” was released March 23rd. That will be  followed by other singles: “Pray For Tomorrow,” an ode to the turbulent times much of  the world is experiencing; “Blood Moon,” and “Crazy In Love.” The debut album, LIPS  TURN BLUE will have its worldwide release this coming May 4th., to coincide with the one year anniversary of the week he passed away.

When the band’s lead vocalist and co-songwriter Phil Naro sadly passed away after a valiant battle against cancer the group’s future was in doubt. Naro and the other band members had just secured a worldwide record deal with the European-based label, MIG RECORDS, and had put the finishing touches on the album when his illness returned, and tragedy struck.

As his illness progressed the band members assured Naro the record would be released, and they would continue to pursue his artistic vision for the material he felt was his best work as a songwriter and vocalist. Now, with the record deal signed, a  release date set and a dynamic new vocalist in place, their promise to their fallen musical comrade can finally be fulfilled.

Iggy Marino came to the band after an extensive search for a new vocalist. He is a recent Nazareth College graduate whose instructors at the school included LTB  drummer Roy Stein and its manager, Bruce Pilato, who both teach music-industry courses there.

“We feel we have a great singer and fellow musician in place that the music touches and motivates,” says Don Mancuso. “We want to get this amazing music out there. It needs to be played to as many music fans as possible. After our period of  mourning Phil’s loss, we now have the drive and experience to take this music on the  road and finish our next album, which is already well in the works.”

Adds Eric Bieber, who, in addition to his skill has a classically trained keyboardist and longtime professional performing musician, recently retired as a physician and hospital executive administrator. “Phil was passionate in his desire to have this music heard and performed. We are honored to be able to carry on his legacy by doing just that. Iggy Marino is a remarkable young musician who will take the band in yet another direction with some of the new material. He is also a fan of the existing album and will  be faithful to Phil’s vision.”

Lou Gramm, founding member and former lead vocalist of FOREIGNER,  appears on the album’s final track, “A Little Outside.”

“We believe this is one of the strongest debut albums we have heard in many years,” says Bernd Ramien, A&R & Director of Catalog Marketing for MIG (Made-In Germany-Music GmbH), which signed the band soon after only hearing a few tracks from the debut album. “We had thought and hoped Phil would overcome his illness, but when he sadly left us, we were determined to make sure this album and band could  carry on.”

At the moment, MIG has plans to release three singles by the time the full album is available this coming April. The group is currently booking tour dates to coincide with the album’s release. Based in Hannover, Germany but distributed worldwide, MIG  Music has released albums by an extraordinary roster of acts that includes: Joe  Jackson, Sheila E, Jack Bruce of Cream, Roger McGuinn, Ron Wood, Muddy Waters,  Pee Wee Ellis, Maceo Parker, Weather Report, Nash Albert, Pat Travers Band, Vanilla  Fudge, Richard Thompson, George Thorogood, Public Image Ltd, and many others.

JUNGLE ROT Announce New Album “A Call to Arms”, Stream First Single

Death metal legends JUNGLE ROT return with their eviscerating new record A Call to Arms, to be released 13th May via Unique Leader.

The US quartet have also streamed the first single from A Call To Arms, the mighty ‘Total Extinction’.

Stream and pre-order Call To Arms here: http://orcd.co/acalltoarms

For a band who’ve existed now for over 25 years, Jungle Rot are still hitting their prime with their savage new album.

Once again co-produced by Chris Djuricic and the band, A Call to Arms was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. It’s the band’s newest record since their acclaimed self-titled 2018 release, praised by Loudwire, Decibel, Revolver, Metal Hammer and a host of celebrated publications.

TRACKLISTING:
1 A Call to Arms
2 Asymmetric Warfare
3 Beyond the Grave
4 Death Squad
5 Genocidal Imperium
6 Haunting Future
7 Maggot Infested
8 Population Suicide
9 Total Extinction
10 Vengeance And Bloodlust

Forever looking to push death metal groove with attitude, Jungle Rot are highly regarded globally. Jaded death metal purists looking for fresh kills need to add the band to their must-listen list – not just A Call to Arms but the band’s impressive and extensive back catalogue, including their 2013 reissue of their classic 1995 Skin The Living.

Shots firing overhead, out of breath, thankful to be alive, an exhausted, courageous soldier takes cover in a nearby trench. Overcome with tragedy, the cadet looks down to carefully remove his worn down combat boots to discover his feet numb and blue, knocking him back with an overwhelming smell of decay and gangrene. This phenomenon is known as “jungle rot”. With a little imagination, visualise this horrifyingly grotesque predicament as it would be in heavy metal form – teeming with despair, brutality, darkness and volatility.  The sinister picture you have just painted comes to life in four-piece death metal act Jungle Rot, who has been triumphantly destroying the metal scene since 1994.

Hailing from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jungle Rot has steadily collected fans by the thousands since their 1995 demo release Skin The Living. Critics, blown away by their chillingly explosive live shows, rewarded the band with stellar reviews and were offered their first record deal with Pulverized Records. Through new representation, the men released their first full-length project, Slaughter The Weak (1998) and were greeted by a tremendous amount of support from both the metal community and critics everywhere. Responding to a flood of new fans, the band rearranged their line-up, adapted their sound, produced new material, and began to dominate the Midwest tour circuit.

The following decade saw the band sign with Olympic Records in 2001, releasing Dead and Buried, and then in 2009 signing with Napalm Records, and their What Horrors Await LP.

The band have toured relentlessly across the world, including with Deicide, Entombed, Vader, Cattle Decapitation and many more. Inspired and motivated by their fans’ continued support, Jungle Rot went on to release the 2011 Kill on Command and eighth studio album Terror Regime (2013).

Now signed to the mighty Unique Leader, the veterans make no sign of wavering or slowing down with the legendary brand of old-school thrash, death, and crossover crust punk.

DOM MARTIN Releases Emotionally Compelling ‘Echoes’ Single And Music Video

Multi-award winning and multi-nominated Northern Irish blues guitarist Dom Martin will release his highly anticipated sophomore studio album A Savage Lifeon Friday 8 April 2022.

The album is available to pre-order from www.dommart.in/pre-order.

Echoes the second single taken from the new album, is released today Friday 25 March and is now available to stream and download from www.dommart.in/upcoming-single.

“Echoes is about loss and finding things that used to belong to souls that have passed on,” says Dom. “It’s a song about ghostly things and memories of the past and I guess it was inspired by me returning to Belfast after periods away during difficult times in my life.”

Hailed by many as the blues’ biggest Irish export since the iconic guitarist Rory Gallagher, 2022 looks like it’s going to be ripe for the picking for Dom Martin.

Dom is the only artist who has been nominated for five awards at the UK Blues Awards 2022  including Blues Album of the Year (for Live at The Harlington), Blues Band of the Year, Blues Vocalist of the Year, Blues Instrumentalist of the Year and Acoustic Blues Act of the Year.

In 2021, Dom won the Acoustic Blues Act of The Year at the UK Blues Awards, as well as nominated for Blues Instrumentalist of The Year and Emerging Artist of The Year. In 2020, Dom won the prestigious Acoustic Blues Act of The Year at the UK Blues Awards.

Dom is the UK representative at The International Blues Challenge in Memphis (May 6-9).

Dom supports Eric Gales in the UK from June 2-8th. Tickets available from The Gig Cartel.

Dom will follow the Gales tour with an early November UK tour to promote his new album A Savage Life, which will also include festival performances.

Produced by Grammy nominated Chris O’Brien, and Graham Murphy, A Savage Life was recorded in Belfast and Dublin during the second half of 2021. The new album features all songs arranged by Dom (guitar and vocals), with stellar musicianship from Dave Thompson (bass guitar) and Laurence McKeown (drums).

“So, this is the dreaded second studio album,” says Dom.

“In some respects, the new album is like my 2019 debut album Spain to Italy, but still very different,” says Dom. “It’s a mixture of acoustic solo and electric just like the first one, however, on this new one, I really wanted to keep this album under-produced so I can reproduce the tracks in a live setting. Similarly, to the Spain to Italy album, the tracks on A Savage Life are mostly based on my own life experiences.”

“I seldom like listening to my own work, but I am proud of what I’ve done on the new album. I think I’ve got that under-produced sound I wanted. Many of the tracks were just one take and that’s the way I like it.”

“A Savage Life is another part of my life story and is also, in a small part, in memory of a great friend who passed away in 2021. It’s my blues, it’s real and I have to live with it!”

TRACK BY TRACK

UNSATISFIED
I wrote this halfway through recording the album after changing my mind about another planned track. I was unsatisfied with the direction it was going.

HERE COMES THE RIVER
My second brush with a loop pedal. I have a Boss RC300 that has gotten the better of me so far. I bought the cheapest and smallest one I could find, and this song was the first thing that came out of the guitar, and I decided to put it on the album. I recorded this on the penultimate day of recording. It is about drowning in despair of the music industry and how it works or doesn’t.

BLUES ON THE BAY
When I was younger, I was on the party trail around various places and music festivals. There is a local festival in the North of Ireland called Blues on The Bay. I saw a great local blues man called Mark Braidner and thought I would love to play there someday. A couple of years ago I got that call, and I wrote this song in tribute to the festival and my childhood dreams and fulfilment.

THE MAN FROM NOWHERE
My story so far really, being out on the road as a man from nowhere who nobody knows!

12 GAUGE
I wrote this about 8 years ago and I was drinking at the time so I’ve no idea where it came from. I guess it was whatever was in my head at the time, just leave me alone. It is only now that I’ve got it the way I want it to sound. High tempo and punches you in the face.

ECHOES
A song about loss and finding things that used to belong to souls that have passed on. It’s sort of a Celtic mystical piece and primarily it’s for my late father and my mother.

DRINK IN BLUE COLOURS
This is about as jazzy as I get. I fell into this accidental chord structure as I was doing something else, and it really sounded good. The song has great dynamics and is based on drinking away your sorrows. It’s a dark and vocally torturous song.

ADDICT
I reckon I was about fifteen when I wrote this. It is a glimpse into my teenage years and what I was getting up to but there is also a negative side.

MAXWELL SHUFFLE
It’s an instrumental for my great late friend “Flash” Gordon Maxwell who passed away in 2021 while we were recording this album. It’s a mixture of the influences that he enjoyed with various style changes with rip roaring guitar, bass, and drums. We have created a new thing, a Celtic power trio shuffle. I think Rory Gallagher would have liked this one.

THE PARTING GLASS
This is a traditional arrangement of an old Scottish lament written around the 1760’s by persons unknown. It is frequently played at Celtic wakes and the very morning I was recording this for Gordon after his cremation. We certainly did not plan that, but it was very moving for all involved. Rest easy brother, we all loved you and thank you for everything you did for me.

SECOND PLACE Release Two New Songs ‘One More Time’ + ‘This Is Me’

Sweden’s SECOND PLACE have released two new songs ‘One More Time’ and ‘This Is Me’, recorded in one day on January 31 2022 in Berga Recording in Rengsjö Sweden. Engineer was Stefan Wängermark.

Pertti Tikkanen, band’s drummer shared about the songs:

ONE MORE TIME: Is about that you have hurt someone else’s feelings at some point in their lives, regardless if it’s been about alcohol or drugs, or simply behaving badly towards that particular person, and now have regrets and wants have forgiveness.

THIS IS ME: It’s about millions of people who have problems with sleep and with poor sleep you can go into different stages of the disease and with this simply they just become, Oohh!! This is me (What they think of themselves)

Pertti Tikkanen adds:
“SECOND PLACE’s main focus is about Mental illness.
Mental illness and bad mood is something we all in Second Place experienced both ourselves and in our environment. With our music and our lyrics, we want to bring mental illness to the surface so that more people will dare to talk about their mood and get help to feel better. The video for the song Nero can be perceived as offensive and signal that we are for suicide as a solution to our problems, which of course is not the case. We want to create something you can relate to in order to more easily take the step to seek.”

Legendary Guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter Announces First-Ever Solo Album “Speed of Heat”, Out June 18th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 25, 2022

Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, known to millions from his groundbreaking work with Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers, and from countless smash hit recordings he’s performed on as an in-demand, first-call studio musician, has announced that his first-ever solo album, Speed of Heat, will be released worldwide via BMG/Renew Records on June 18, 2022. The record’s dazzling pre-release track, an intense, hard-driving remake of Steely Dan’s “My Old School,” features a rare lead vocal by Baxter himself, and is out now.

Listen to “My Old School” HERE.

Pre-order Speed of Heat HERE.

For music fans of all stripes, and particularly those who have followed Baxter’s remarkable career through the years and have long hoped for the guitarist to record a solo project, Speed of Heat will prove well worth the wait. The 12-song disc is a riveting and rewarding musical experience that features a host of brilliantly crafted originals co-written by the guitarist and his producing /music partner, CJ Vanston, as well as inspired versions of some of the great classics. Along the way, Baxter is joined by guest vocalists and songwriters such as Michael McDonald, Clint Black, Jonny Lang and Rick Livingstone, each of whom adds their own unique and remarkable musical talents to the project’s brilliant sonic mosaic.

Baxter’s new version of “My Old School” is a head-turning, high-octane view of deep-pocket original. “I always felt that the song had a lot of rock potential,” the guitarist says. “That was my goal going in, to muscle it up.” He reveals that his gutsy vocals came about by accident: “I laid down a scratch vocal because I really wanted Steven Tyler to sing it. He heard what I’d done and said, ‘Hey, who’s singing on this?’ I told him it was me, and he said, ‘Well, it’s really great. You should do it yourself.’ I thought he was kidding, but he wasn’t. So I took a shot and the reaction has been very positive.”

Speed of Heat also includes the hypnotically gripping ballad, “My Place in the Sun,” which, along with a wonderfully evocative guitar solo, features the unmistakably expressive voice of Baxter’s former Doobie Brothers bandmate Michael McDonald. “CJ and I wrote the song with Michael,” Baxter explains. “I really enjoyed crafting this track because I knew that Michael always thrived on call and response, so I thought a little bit about how Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck worked together and wanted to do something in that vein with Mike and it think it came off exceptionally well. You can really feel the chemistry between us on that track.”

Instrumental guitar fans will discover that Speed of Heat offers a boatload of riches. Among the many highlights is Baxter’s fiery take on the classic “Apache,” made famous by the Shadows and guitarist Jorgen Ingmann in 1960. In and of itself, Baxter’s tour de force performance here is worth the price of admission – “A tribute to the original, but on steroids!”, as he puts it.

Another standout track sees Baxter revisiting his back pages once again for a spine-tingling re-imagining of Steely Dan’s first hit single, “Do it Again,” this one built around a spacey, slithery, almost hallucinatory R&B groove over which Baxter drizzles spunky, jazz-tinged leads. There’s also the luminous original ballad “Juliet,” radiant with dreamy, glistening guitar lines and a lyrical nylon-string interlude that aches with emotion. “When I played it for my daughter, she said, ‘It’s like a sunrise,’” Baxter recalls. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”

As one of the most recorded guitarists of his generation, Baxter’s creative and versatile playing has been heard on some of the most iconic songs in music history, including “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton and “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer. The stunningly diverse collection of material on Speed of Heat presents a 360-degree view of the uniquely gifted musician.

“You go into making a record with so many expectations, but I can honestly say that the finished album met and exceeded all of them,” Baxter says. “It was immensely gratifying when my musical peers would come up to me and said, ‘Hey, I heard you’re making a solo album. Can I sing or play on it?’ That’s a wonderful feeling. Throughout the entire process, and with CJ Vanston’s extraordinary talent and support, I strove to achieve something new, compelling, singular and exciting with each track. I believe this collection of songs and performances realizes that goal and trust that those who listen will come away with the same sentiment.”

In conclusion, Baxter says, “There were so many incredible moments that went into the creation of this record. For me, making this album was much akin to why I play the guitar – exploring and traveling the path to furthering and expanding my musical horizons and, ultimately, bettering myself as a musician and guitarist. I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far, but I also learned years ago from my father that you cannot and should not dwell on your successes, and that an individual should move forward and strive for self-improvement and knowledge. For me, this project is a major step in that direction.”
