BETH HART has added four new dates to her rescheduled March 2023 UK tour dates. New dates include Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (Tuesday 7 March), Sheffield City Hall (Saturday 11 March),  Manchester Bridgwater Hall (Monday 13 March) and Brighton Dome (Tuesday 21 March).

Tickets for the previous rescheduled March 2023 concerts remain valid and these include Birmingham Symphony Hall (Thursday 9 March), Newcastle City Hall (Wednesday 15 March), London Palladium special solo show (Friday 17 March) London Palladium full-band show (Saturday 18 March). Tickets are available from www.alttickets.com/beth-hart-tickets and www.gigsinscotland.com/artist/beth-hart

For her most recent album, the Grammy-nominated powerhouse vocalist Beth Hart took on one of her most profound undertakings to date by channelling the legendary voice of Robert Plant on A Tribute To Led Zeppelin.

Released last week, the nine-song album highlights the incredible spectrum that Led Zeppelin operated in. At the helm was super-producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance) and engineer Doug McKean (Goo Goo Dolls, Adam Lambert). The A-list musicians include Cavallo on guitar along with Tim Pierce (Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner), on bass was Chris Chaney (Rob Zombie, Slash), keyboards were Jamie Muhoberac (Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones), on drums Dorian Crozier (Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus, Joe Cocker) and Matt Laug (Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper), with Orchestral arrangements by David Campbell (Muse, Beyoncé). All that was left was the final piece of the puzzle… the voice.

Things began back when Cavallo was producing Hart’s previous album, War In My Mind (2019), and she did an impromptu version of “Whole Lotta Love” in the control room during the session. It’s fitting that “Whole Lotta Love”, is the opening song of the album. From there, it’s a non-stop journey through “Kashmir,” an enchanting version of “Stairway to Heaven” to a James Brown-esque funky strut of “The Crunge.” Inspired medley’s “Dancing Days/When The Levee Breaks” and “No Quarter/Babe I’m Gonna Leave You Now” stand either side of “Black Dog.”  The penultimate song “Good Times Bad Times” leads into the orchestral ballad “The Rain Song,” which closes the album.

Talking about the music and legacy of Zeppelin, she says, “it’s so beautifully done, it’s timeless. It will go on forever. Sometimes people come along, and they’re from another planet, and they make these pieces of art which will forever be.”

The news follows the release of Beth’s latest album A Tribute To Led Zeppelin. Beth’s ever-growing fanbase can look forward to experiencing more of Beth’s breath-taking emotionally charged live shows including songs from her critically acclaimed albums War In My Mind and Fire On The Floor.

Beth continues to vow audiences all over the world with her unique performances and astounding voice. Previously, she sold out the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. This performance was later released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

VAN CANTO Drop New Official Video for ‘Turn Back Time’

This past summer, Germany’s most thundering voices VAN CANTO set free their eighth studio album, To The Power Of Eight, to spread their unique soundscapes as the world’s most exciting acapella metal masters. Now, the energizing powerhouse is ready to impact the new year with their unique Rakataka-style by unveiling a brand new atmospheric music video for “Turn Back Time”, cut from their latest full-length. The harmonizing song appeals to the calmer side of the multifaceted outfit and showcases the wide range of creativity that VAN CANTO stands for since releasing their first record, A Storm To Come, in 2006.

VAN CANTO on “Turn Back Time”:
“’Turn back Time’ is a ballad that has quite a history behind it. I wrote it together with Bastian back in 1999 for our former band Jester’s Funeral. At that time, the instrumentation was more like ‘Bard’s Song’, with acoustic guitars and a lead singer. We never finished the songwriting on this one, and over 20 years later we came across it again while listening through old demos.
Since the lyrics are about what would happen if you could turn back time (but maybe you don’t even want to), we thought it would fit quite well that a composition from our teenage years would finally see the light of day on the eighth album of a seasoned band. Listening to the song now, you’d think it had always been written for VAN CANTO and with eight singers in mind.”

JOHNNY THE BOY Sign to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is pleased to announce the signing of JOHNNY THE BOY! Consisting of Justin Greaves & Belinda Kordic (CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX) and Matt Crawford, the band is gearing up for their debut release via Season of Mist. Musically, JOHNNY THE BOY has combined elements of first and second wave black metal with a touch of crust punk and d-beat.

The band comments: “After years of a successful relationship between Crippled Black Phoenix and Season Of Mist, of course we are psyched to be working with SoM again with our new band, Johnny The Boy. It’s like the best kind of home for a misfit band like us.”

Season of Mist CEO Michael Berberian comments on the signing:

“When we received the new Crippled Black Phoenix album, I loved the bonus track. But it sounded totally different, not CBP at all. So I called Justin:

“‘WTF is this! it’s cool’

“Justin G: ‘yeah! Glad you like it! We’re thinking of doing a whole album like this’

“‘I’ll sign it.”

“And there it was, here is Johnny the Boy, the extreme metal outlet from the mastermind behind CBP, Iron Monkey, etc. You know it’s going to be interesting.”

JOHNNY THE BOY is the menacing arm of creepy music deemed too heavy for the mother band Crippled Black Phoenix. Previously called World War, JOHNNY THE BOY is actually a long time planned project of Justin and Belinda, the genesis of which was back in around 2017. At a CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX tour rehearsal, the two were jamming some banshee vocal style Black Metal purely for kicks, but then became a more serious prospect to make some heavy tunes. JOHNNY THE BOY is also a huge payment of respect to Justin and Belinda’s long history in heavy music, Belinda with STABB and Justin with a whole bag of dirty bands, including Iron Monkey, Electric Wizard, Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine etc..

Jump to 2019 and a demo was created along with long time friend Matt Crawford (Formally of Weirdwolf) and released under the name “World War”. It was a primitive and raw experiment into what would become JOHNNY THE BOY. Roll on 2021 and a plan is hatched after including a “World War” song in the most recent CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX album session. Season Of Mist heard it and decided to release an album of this new heavy stuff.

2022 – World War is re-named JOHNNY THE BOY. The album is written and the band (made up of Belinda Kordic, Justin  Greaves and Matt Crawford) enter Chapel Studio to record some of the most brutal, menacing and creepy music they’ve created for more than two decades. Belinda bringing out the vicious banshee along with some deathly haunting howls, Justin back doing sludgy battle drums and blast attack as well as massive guitars, Matt finishing things off with the filthy low end bass action.

JOHNNY THE BOY is the end time and it just got heavier.
