STEVE VAI Releases Video for ‘Teeth of the Hydra’

STEVE VAI and Favored Nations / Mascot Label Group present the official music video for “Teeth Of The Hydra.”  Vai shares, “The idea for this guitar and track came to me roughly seven years ago.  I envisioned composing and performing a piece of music on a multi-neck instrument where all of the sound emanated from that one creation with the exception of some keyboards and drums.  I sent my ideas to Ibanez, and their builders delivered this astonishing wooden creature.  I was stunned.  It was awesome.  When I first laid eyes on it, I named it the Hydra, and instantly knew the name of the song would be ‘Teeth of the Hydra.’  A Hydra is a dragon-like creature from Greek mythology possessing various heads.  For every head chopped off, two would grow in its place.  I then set out to write a piece of music that utilized all the features of the Hydra, but could also stand on its own as an enjoyable composition with a sultry melody and heavy dynamics.”

He continues, “When I finally sat with the Hydra and started to contemplate writing this piece and how I was to navigate the instrument in a seamless way, for a moment it seemed impossible.  I just started slowly, and it all began to unfold very naturally.  Things that can seem impossible don’t seem so impossible once you just start doing them.  Every new discovery and accomplishment were treated as a joyous victory, even if it only involved figuring out one bar of music.  The overall inner vision was the guide through the process, but with every accomplishment, the process became more and more addictive.  I became immersed in the splendors of the Hydra.  It was a meditative experience, and on the day that it all finally clicked, performing the song felt like stillness in motion—that’s when the performance becomes virtually effortless, and the freedom of present-moment expression has you feeling as if your feet are about a foot off the ground.  The exhilaration can be overwhelming at times.  I’m very happy with the way the video came out, and having BJ McDonnell as director, along with his amazing crew, was vital. Enjoy!”

The performance clip was directed by BJ McDonnell, and produced by John Heller and Jason Salzman. The Director of Photography was Eric Leach, with art direction by Michael Mesker. Greg Wurth was the Sound Engineer and Assistant Editor.

Vai’s new studio album Inviolate debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Current Hard Rock Albums chart. Cumulative streams exceed 5 million, with “Teeth Of The Hydra” accounting for more than one million.

The Inviolate World Tour will commence with a European leg of appearances beginning in Glasgow on 4 June, 2022. The itinerary will stretch in to mid-July, staging performances in the U.K., Ireland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain. Steve Vai’s North American performances supporting the new album will start on September 28 at The Magnolia in El Cajon, CA. The final show is planned for his hometown of Los Angeles, at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on December 3.  For tickets and a variety of EVO Experience VIP bundles available visit https://www.vai.com.

Vai will be joined by his long-tenured ensemble members Dave Weiner (guitar / keys), Philip Bynoe (bass), and Jeremy Colson (drums).  Vai shares, “It’s amazing to realize that after three years of not performing our show on a stage, that it’s now on the horizon, and will start to unfold in Europe this summer.  I can feel the road now and the enthusiastic audiences that we will be connecting with.”

Florida death metal vets INHUMAN CONDITION have released the first new song, “Recycled Hate,” from their eagerly awaited sophomore album, “Fearsick,” that’s due out on July 15th. The trio, which features vocalist/drummer Jeramie Kling (VENOM INC, EX-DEO, THE ABSENCE), guitarist Taylor Nordberg  (DEICIDE, THE ABSENCE) and bassist Terry Butler (OBITUARY, DEATH, MASSACRE, SIX FEET UNDER), will onceagain be self-releasing the album on Kling/Nordberg’s own Listenable Insanity Records. In addition to the 9 new blistering tracks, the band has recorded a series of cover songs to be delegated to the labels they have signed license deals with for their CD releases.

The new single is accompanied by a music video filmed by Deidra Kling and edited by Jeramie Kling. Watch below.

Nordberg comments on the new song “Recycled Hate“:

“The release of Recycled Hate is extra special for us, not only because it launches our second album, but also because it was the first song that was written by Jeramie and I for the albums that became Rat°God and Fearsick back in the fall of 2019. It’s also worth noting that our good pal Paul Mazurkiewicz wrote the lyrics and vocal patterns for this song. We can’t wait to unleash the rest of the album and hit the road this summer!”

Pre-order “Fearsick” beginning April 16th at inhumancondition.bandcamp.com

About INHUMAN CONDITION:
Spawning from chaos, Inhuman Condition came to life with all guns blazing in the fall of 2020. With an album and a half of material from what was to be a new Massacre album, Jeramie Kling (vocals, drums – Venom Inc, Ex Deo, The Absence) and Taylor Nordberg (guitars – Deicide, The Absence) joined up with Terry Butler (bass – Obituary, Death, Massacre, Six Feet Under) to form a new band and to self-release their debut album “Rat°God” on Kling and Nordberg’s own Listenable Insanity Records on June 4th, 2021. The album was hailed with rave reviews and the group went on to do 2 tours in the United States in support of the record.

Wasting no time, the band wrote and recorded their second album, “Fearsick,” in 2019 and 2021 with mixing by Kling and mastering by Nordberg at Smoke & Mirrors Productions.

CELTIC HILLS Unleash Acclaimed New Album “Huldufólk”, Available on All Digital Platforms

The wait is over! Italian legendary Speed/thrash metallers CELTIC HILLS have unleashed their highly anticipated new album “Huldufólk” out April 1st, via Elevate Records, and available now on all digital platforms at https://li.sten.to/huldufolk!

The new album “Huldufolk” collects and relaunches the excellent reviews obtained from the previous work. “Huldufolk” is a record with a lot of melody but characterized by the speed that distinguishes Celtic Hills. The album was produced by Michele Guaitoli, singer of Temperance and Vision of Atlantis in the studios of the Groove Factory in Udine and for the realization of the cover again the talented Sheila Franco.

Earlier Jonathan revealed on “Huldufólk”:
“Again this time we will talk about Friuli, and the theory is at work that the location of the American Air Force Base Aviano is used to control an ancient access to the underground world, which has been used by the pagan gods since ancient times. The magical rites of the inhabitants of the mountains and the places where elves, fairies and gnomes once lived among the people are revealed. There are already definitive titles such as The Sound of the Earth in F sharp minor. A text tells how you can use the beneficial energy of the trees at dawn to strengthen your energies, but there will be no lack of historical events that accompany every CELTIC HILLS album.”

Jonathan on the album cover artwork:
“The cover was again entrusted to Sheila Franco with the input of drawing a brighter cover, with the predominant green between the green that characterizes the MATRIX movie and the green of uncontaminated nature. A record in the balance between the enchanted world of legends, heroic deeds performed by people who wanted a better world. A record that looks to the past, projecting itself into a future to be built. A passing disc that wants to take past history with it to go further …to draw.”

The tracklisting reads the following:
1 – The Secret of the Grail
2 – Metal Message
3 – After The Eartquake
4 – Hidden Folk
5 – Green Forest
6 – Gate Of Hollow Earth
7 – Living Out Of The Egg
8 – The Sound Of Earth
9 – The Hammer Of Thor
10 – Villacher Kirktag

CELTIC HILLS were born in 2010, in 2020 they sign a recording contract with Elevate Records with which they released the album “Blood over Intents” and the EP “Schrage Musik” both in 2020. In 2021 another album is out “Mystai Keltoy” produced and recorded by Michele Guaitoli singer of Temperance, Vision of Atlantis and Era. The style played is difficult to place in a single vein of metal, as there are many influences ranging from death to power, with sound elements that can also recall a certain type of 90’s thrash. The singing is quite varied, and for some listeners it may seem unusual in a metal band. power, speed and good melodic lines distinguish the band from others. Between 2010 and 2020 they released “Horns helmet fighters” and for the Slovak Music Globalliance they came out on international compilations on volumes 2,3,4. CELTIC HILLS’ new album “Huldufólk” was released on April 1st, 2022 via Elevate Records.

GUS G. Talks Last Minute Firewind Tour Supporting Drangoforce in USA/Canada

The Metal Voice‘s Jimmy Kay from checked in with Firewind‘s Guitarist Gus G and Singer Herbie Langhans in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the Corona Theater March 31, 2022. Watch the interview below.

Gus Told The Metal Voice how the Firewind was added at the last moment to the tour and almost did not make it he said, “We were added on the tour only one and half months ago. We are actually replacing a band called Battle Beast, they couldn’t make it and we got the call. I have known Herman Li (Dragonforce guitarist) since the early days, our bands pretty much started at the same time more or less. We have been friends forever. We even did a tour with Drgaonforce back in 2006, Europe and the UK. He (Herman) reached out and said can you do this? Do you think you have time? Do you think you have time with such short notice? We talked internally with the band, we called a lawyer. Do we have time to get Visas’? It’s a long process for that but somehow we expedited it. I mean Herbie, he literally got his Visa on Friday night and on Saturday morning we flew to Denver. There was a plan B for me to do some instrumental stuff until Herbie would get on the next flight, for the following week. I would have done maybe some solo shows.”

SATAN Celebrate Release of “Earth Infernal” with New Video

NWOBHM heroes, SATAN, have released their sixth full length album Earth Infernal. The album has been lauded by press with Last Rites calling it “razor-sharp, intelligent, and passionate heavy metal of the highest order” and Angry Metal Guy exclaiming “[it] is the best metal I’ve heard thus far in 2022.” Listen and watch to hear what all the fuss is about with the video for track #9, “The Blood Ran Deep,” on YouTube below.

Earth Infernal is available now at: metalblade.com/satan

Earth Infernal track listing:
01. Ascendancy
02. Burning Portrait
03. Twelve Infernal Lords
04. Mercury’s Shadow
05. A Sorrow Unspent
06. Luciferic
07. From Second Sight
08. Poison Elegy
09. The Blood Ran Deep
10. Earth We Bequeath

Earth Infernal is a product of the times that birthed it, and could only be the work of SATAN. Having churned out cutting edge heavy metal throughout the 80s – and reunited in 2011 – their sixth full-length maintains the high standard they long ago set, and it is perhaps their timeliest release. “For two years the world has been preoccupied with politics and pandemics and while we were all looking the other way our planet has continued to get hotter,” says guitarist Russ Tippins. “Our Earth is now infernally hot. Almost irreversibly so. We are on a one-way trip to Hell and dragging our children along with us. Yes, SATAN has something to say about global warming.“

Over three years of development went into Earth Infernal, describing the record succinctly as ‘brutal, up tempo, loud guitars’, it is classic SATAN but sounds fresh and new, the band experimenting a little. “Steve (Ramsey, guitar) and I had been talking for a while about playing some of our dual leads in unison rather than in harmony – which is our normal method. And sure enough, the trusted twin harmonies are still in abundance on this record, but two of the songs have us playing lead in unison, like Rossington and Collins’ solo in “Free Bird.“

“I believe that our current writing and subject matter are only too relevant to what is going on in the world today,” concludes Tippins. With touring plans in the works, SATAN fans will get a chance to hear Earth Infernal live in the not-too-distant future, and perhaps more importantly SATAN will continue to spread the important message at the heart of the album.

THE DEVIL’S TRADE Shares Live Video for ‘Dreams from the Rot’

Dark folk singer-songwriter THE DEVIL’S TRADE is now releasing a brand new live video for the track “Dreams for the Rot!” The video was shot during a live performance at the prestigious Roadburn Redux festival that took place in 2021 and celebrates the artist’s upcoming live performances, which are scheduled for April throughout Europe! The video can now be viewed at THIS LOCATION.

The full performance of the show will be released on all digital platforms on April 15, 2022.

Mastermind Dávid Makó comments on the video: “Roadburn Redux got me in a period when you could not really complain as everyone was hurt in a way and we all had to face the same or similar struggles and losses. It happened to be the lowest period of my life so far where dark and sad meant nothing anymore I just got completely empty and hopeless and finally I got to a point where I had to find professional support to be able to get up and move on. Roadburn Redux was one of the very few things that could give me a reason to try to act like everything was normal while inside I was completely dead. I am so grateful for this opportunity and so glad to be able to share this concert with you all! Keep on going!“

THE DEVIL’S TRADE is supporting their 2020 release, ‘The Call of the Iron Peak,’ which can be streamed, downloaded, and ordered HERE.
