After the ultimate desert rock collective, STÖNER, extended their deal with powerhouse label Heavy Psych Sounds, the band just shared a first track taken from their upcoming album, totally…, which is slated for a release on May 6, 2022!

If the name Stöner seems a little on the nose, well… it is. Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, founding members of stoner rock legend Kyuss, are joined again by drummer Ryan Güt (of Bjork’s solo band) and they’ve got dibs on the thick and dusty swinging grooves, returning as Stöner with their sophomore release totally… . Stöner’s love for their early inspirations (bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, Ramones, Blue Cheer, Misfits, Black Flag, The Stooges, MC5) result in big, groovy, sunbaked riffs that can cruise low and slow but then floor it and run all the red lights. Give ear, as Stöner just shared a first track taken from totally…! Says Brant Bjork: “What happens if you take Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis to the desert for a weekend getaway? I don’t know but it’s likely to involve A Million Beers!”

Just exclusively premiered with Visions Magazine and Metal Injection, “A Million Beers” is now streaming HERE:

Live, this is a band about the magnetism between the players, the groove, the loose vibe and straight up badass rock and roll…(Check out their upcoming tour dates HERE!). Stöner are masters of their trade. With totally… the band is in its true form, getting together and having fun. Stöner’s world is a colorful joyride, heavy of rock but not of head. The record cranks with vibes of classic hard rock, heavy blues, desert rock and psych rock jams – things that come organically to this trio. Stöner can’t help but express an abundance of punk rock rawness and passion for real rock and roll swagger. With two records, “Live at Mojave” and “Stoners Rule” (available on Heavy Psych Sounds), their forthcoming release totally… sees the band realizing the chemistry of these old friends developing a statement of pure rock and roll fun.

The album was produced, recorded and mixed by Yoseph Sanborn and Stöner, and will be released as highly collectable Vinyl editions, CD and Digital formats on May 6, 2022 by Heavy Psych Sounds Records. totally… will also feature guest appearances on guitar by Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks) and Mario Lalli (Yawning Man). Grab a slice, crank it, and pre-order your album copy at THIS LOCATION!

10 YEARS Announce Release of “Deconstructed”, Out March 4th

10 YEARS and Mascot Records / Mascot Label Group have announced the release of “Deconstructed”, coming out on March 4th. “Deconstructed” is a collection of 19 alternate takes of the band’s most popular songs from 20 year career.

The complete track listing of Deconstructed features “Halos,” “Lucky You,” “Say Goodbye,” “The Unknown,” “I Wish,” “Waking Up,” “Patiently,” “Seasons To Cycles,” “Survivors,” “Running In Place,” “Knives,” “Soma,” “Fix Me,” “Fault Line,” “11AM (Daydreamer),” “Planets I,” “Dying Youth,” “One More Day,” and “Wasteland.”

Guitarist Brian Vodinh shares, “The idea for DECONSTRUCTED started out as just an acoustic performance. Myself and Matt with acoustic guitars, and nothing beyond that in terms of instrumentation. Then, as I was working on adapting some of the songs to an acoustic environment, I started getting these thoughts, like, ‘What if this was played on a piano instead?!’  Then once we opened the door to further instrumentation things spiraled out of control quickly, and it became one of the most challenging, yet most gratifying projects we have taken on.  DECONSTRUCTED allows the listener to discover this list of songs all over again, in a new way.” Singer Jesse Hasek adds, “The DECONSTRUCTED versions of these songs really hit me in an emotional way.  It felt different to sing over the orchestrations that Brian and Matt had created for these.  It felt really intimate, and like they had really carved a path for where my voice was to sit on those arrangements.  I hope people can listen to these versions and find the spirit in them that we were trying to convey.”

The release of Deconstructed follows the band’s most recent studio album Violent Allies. The lead single, “The Shift,” has been streamed over 9.5 million times on Spotify, with over 16 million collective streams across all platforms.  Repertoire from the album has been streamed 15.8 million times on Spotify, while collective streams across all platforms exceeds 30 million.  To view the official music video of “The Shift,” click here: https://youtu.be/yo-7PuzG97Y.

Finnish Rovaniemi-based melodic metal band HATE WORLD HERO released a new single The Beast Has Awoken via Inverse Records.

The band comments:
“The Beast Has Awoken is about the awakening or waking up of The Beast. The Beast itself can signify anyone or anything, even an object or an experience. In life we face setbacks, doubts and downplay from different directions, but once you find your inner spark and let it burn, it will break all chains and kick-start you on new paths, although others might not always understand. What is The Beast then? That’s for you to decide!

The Beast Has Awoken is a powerful, fast-paced, and energetic song that rolls on with rising intensity and enormous power. The song’s pace, melodicity and massive choruses will no doubt make you bang your heads. The Beast Has Awoken was composed by Hannu Kuoksa with lyrics written by Teemu Huhtala.”

THE DEFACED Release New Video/Single ‘Bleeding Ore’

Swedish metal veterans, THE DEFACED are releasing a new video and single for “Bleeding Ore”. The song is taken from the bands upcoming album “Charlatans” that will be released om March 4!

The band about the song:
“The lyrics of Bleeding Ore are about the utter frustration one can feel in a world that seems to look more into a narrower and more egocentric periscope. We tend to miss the holistic side of life and nature in a highly effective- and measurable world. When writing the lyrics, I felt a profound sadness that sometimes can flow over us, but at the same time I felt the need not to linger too long in these thought patterns.

The video is a representation of how individuals can feel about personal trauma, but the video still has a more humoristic side with the unicorn that we used in the promo picture. My daughter’s unicorn was in my car, and we started using it in the pictures, then we integrated it into the video to take the edge of all seriousness. The video and the lyrics were getting too dark. Hey, it’s just music after all.”

The Defaced was formed in 1999 in Helsingborg, Sweden, when members from Darkane, Soilwork and local acts joined forces. Writing, rehearsing, demoing and gigging eventually led up to landing a record deal.

The debut album “Domination Commence” was released in 2001 through Scarlet Records and Nuclear Blast America. The album rounded up feedback putting the band on the map. In 2003 “Karma in Black” was released. The album meant a clear progression to a more
mature sound which was recognized in the stellar reception of the album. A video was shot for the track “Once in Between” which gained air-time on various TV channels. Gigs and festival slots followed the album release.

2006 meant line-up changes prior to the release of the band’s third album, “Anomaly”. The album treaded new ground incorporating vibes from alternative genres into the band’s sound. More gigs followed the release of the album. Then silence…

Awoken from hibernation in 2018. The fire was back, songs fell into place and off it went. The evolution of the band is clear. The heritage from early days blends in with the ever so prominent vein on exploring progressive territories.

About the album:
Charlatans took its beginning back in 2019 when Mattias Svensson gave Jens Broman a call. Jens Broman hadn’t been working with music to any major extent since 2010 when he left Darkane. Since the release of the album, Anomaly, back in 2006, The Defaced had slowly started to dissolve during 2007-2008 and was finally set on pause indefinitely in late 2008. Mattias explained on the phone that he had written a bunch of songs that he wanted Jens to listen to. The intention was to start up The Defaced again. Jens loved the songs immediately and slowly during 2019 Mattias and Jens started to set up a work process for continuing working on the songs. – It all came very naturally, just like in the old days, says Jens. Klas Ideberg shared the same thoughts and ambitions and after recruiting new drummer Bob Ruben a new start of the band was on the table.

All instruments were recorded in Helsingborg at the Mansarda studios, produced by Klas and Mattias.Vocals were recorded and produced by Jens and Björn Strid at Studio Björngrottan, in Tyreså Autumn 2020. Mixing and mastering by Lawrence Mackory, At Obey Mastering, in Uppsala. December 2020.

As with so many artists much of the inspiration for this record, lyrically came from a large extent from the pandemic. Not as such but its creativity came as an involuntary pause from the wound-up stressed world. The songs cover themes such as struggles with relationships, self-doubt and eager frustration and a feeling that everything is already too late to change. Charlatans is an album that encompasses the sound of the earlier albums but given the addition of a more prominent progressive touch. The songs aim to give the listener an even
greater sonic adventure than the previous records. Still, most of the heritage from old metal giants is ever so present, blended together with classic songwriting with a twist towards progressive soundscapes.
