Swedish power metal project KRILLOAN have released the first official video taken from their forthcoming EP, Stories Of Times Forgotten, realeased via Sliptrick Records later in 2022.
Here’s the official word from lead man Klas; “Times Forgotten is a song that sums up what the EP is about, forgotten times and legends. It is an epic tale about the power we can get from the past and things lost in time for most people. Metaphorically, it’s a homage to all the heroes of the metal music scene that has inspired us all who picked up the torch thanks to them.”
Krilloan are: Klas Holmgren – Guitars | Steve Brockmann – Lead Guitars | Alex VanTrue – Vocals | Marco Toba – Bass | David Lanas – Drums

Tokyo’s Thrash Heroes SURVIVE – active in the world for over 20 years – have forged their own indelible path within the jmetal scene. It was back in 1998, when former Death File guitarist and mastermind Nemo decided to form a thrash metal band of his own which soon became the juggernaut known as SURVIVE. Over the next two decades the band have played many big festivals (Loud Park, Beast Fest, Multiplex-motorbike event, Korean Live Rock, Formoz Festival, Asia Metal Festival, Dongducheon Rock Festival, Trendkill Extreme Feast, etc) and toured all over the world with acts such as Behemoth, United, Killswitch Engage, Dope, Pulling Teeth, Testament, Outrage, Anthrax, Hatebreed, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, Venom Inc, At The Gates, to name just a few, cementing their place in Japanese metal history. Still going strong, SURVIVE‘s latest album “Immortal Warriors” was released to the Japanese market on September 12th, 2018 and a year later, on September 24th 2019, the album is out worldwide via Sliptrick Records. SURVIVE have lost none of their verve and “Immortal Warriors” is an absolute must for fans.
March 11, 2022 will see Danish brutal death doom metal act KONVENT strike back with their brand new album, Call Down The Sun, via Napalm Records.
Undoubtedly inspired by recent dark times and as the new single and video clip proves, the band’s sophomore album is more pissed off, fast-paced and pitch black throughout. Rikke Emilie List’s guttural, sublime growls and fierce screams perfectly integrate with a heavy as hell wall of blackened death and funeral doom metal riffs from guitarist Sara Helena Nørregaard, backed by a thick, profound rhythm section provided by bassist Heidi Withington Brink and drummer Julie Simonsen.
Today, following the previously released first single “Grains”, KONVENT have shared a new, fierce track taken from Call Down The Sun! With “Pipe Dreams”, the Copenhagen four-piece not only unleashes hurricanes of blackened death doom metal, but a killer band performance in a brand new video clip!
“‘Pipe Dreams’ dives deep into the heart of manipulation, whether it be by a person, an institution or an entire industry,” vocalist Rikke reveals. “In the ‘Pipe Dreams’ factory, insecure people are deceived, exploited and told that their biggest dreams are just about to come true..”
After their debut full-length album, Puritan Masochism, took the entire doom and heavy metal scene by storm upon its release two years ago, KONVENT returns with a sophomore offering that doubles down on the band’s songwriting talent and brutal, heavy sound! The sonic evolution of KONVENT over the course of just two years is immediately evident on Call Down The Sun, surprising with new elements at every turn. Recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Ballade Studios, Copenhagen and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio, the new album’s thunderous apocalyptic sound is impossible to escape. Call Down The Sun a refreshing, vibrant record that is not only poised to top 2022 Album Of The Year lists, but reign as one of the best death and blackened doom metal records of modern times!

New York’s SANHEDRIN have debuted the first video from their upcoming album, Lights On, set for worldwide release on March 4th. Watch “Lost at Sea” below.
The Brooklyn power trio do metal the old school way, channeling the greats that preceded them to create something that is instantly familiar yet with a new, modern energy to it. On this particular track, vocalist/bassist Erica Stoltz explains, “‘Lost at Sea’ is about how we are drowning in excess here in the developed world. We are moving ever further away from a seven-generations perspective of our own existence, the effect it has on the future and how it is tied to the past.“
The video was shot at the historic King’s Theatre in Brooklyn, NY. Built in the 1920’s, it is a visually stunning facility with ornate features that lend itself to the lyrical theme of opulence. The vast ceilings, bold carvings and beautiful stage and seats provide an epic atmosphere for the band’s performance. Also starring in the video is fellow Brooklyn metaller, Tanya Finder of the band Shadowland, as the death-dealing fortune teller.
Rounded out by drummer Nathan Honor, the band state, “In a time where the world around you feels like it’s aflame, when our heavy metal heroes are beginning to disappear to failing health or changing social norms, we, SANHEDRIN, stand here as a shining light through the dark. We are prepared to fly the flag of heavy metal in these trying and uncertain times and have only begun to show the world what we are capable of.“
SANHEDRIN is slated for festival appearances across Europe and the US this year, starting with the “Slaves Of Light Tour,” with German rockers Stallion, kicking of May 1st in Osnabruck, Germany.
Earlier this year SANHEDRIN released “Correction,” the first single from Lights On. Stream Now and purchase Lights On at Metal Blade Records: metalblade.com/sanhedrin

Danish folk metal purveyors SVARTSOT have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere, for Finnish territory, their new single and lyric video ‘Drømte Mig En Drøm‘, taken from the band’s upcoming album “Kumbl” on February 25th via Mighty Music. The song reflects perfectly the authenticity of the record.
Watch and enjoy ‘Drømte Mig En Drøm’ premiering here:
““Drømte Mig En Drøm” is the oldest recorded Danish song, which is found written in the manuscript Codex Runicus, a copy of the Scanian Law from ca. 1300 and written entirely in medieval runes”, Cris J.S. Frederiksen, guitarist from the Danish folk metallers say. “The song exists as only one line of lyrics and primitive written music accompaniment, so we wrote a new, whole song based on that one phrase”.
“Drømte Mig En Drøm” is released as a digital single and lyric video today, February 11th, 2022.
Although it is now quite a while since Svartsot has released new material, the band is still very much alive and kicking. In the interim since 2015’s Vældet, the beer-soaked folk metallers have been active on the live scene in Denmark and abroad, including appearances at various major festivals as well as at the prestigious 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise in 2019. After a change of bassist and the decision to shelve an album’s worth of material in 2017/18, the idea of releasing a collection of traditional folk songs that have inspired the band, reworked in Svartsot’s characteristic style, was spawned.
The original idea was to release this fifth album, entitled “Kumbl” (an old Danish word meaning ‘monument’ or ‘memorial’), in 2020 to coincide with Svartsot’s 15th anniversary. However, due to various practicalities, the album was first recorded — by none other than the band’s drummer and up-and-coming producer, Frederik Uglebjerg (www.uglebjerg.com) — during the pandemic.
In support of the album, Svartsot have been booked for a series of concerts across Denmark. Whilst only a few European shows are booked or planned at the moment, more will hopefully follow, if travel regulations permit.
“Kumbl” will be re-released in CD, LP and digital formats via Mighty Music on February 25th, 2022.
