THE RODS Release “Metal Will Never Die” Official Live Bootleg Box Set 1981-2010 on February 25th

Cherry Red Records (UK) will release THE RODS–“Metal Will Never Die”, the Official Live Bootleg 4 CD Box Set 1981-2010 on February 25, 2022.
.
The 4 cds feature live sets from 1981, 1982, 2009 and 2010.

While every effort has been made to produce the best possible audio, limitations in the material drawn from various, non-standard, and unofficial sources means that the quality may not be up to the standard usually expected. All tracks have been included for their historical importance.

The Rods debut album, “Rock Hard”, was released in 1980, re-titled simply “The Rods” the following year. It was swiftly followed by the “Full Throttle” EP, material from these releases making up the bulk of CD 1 which was recorded across two concerts in 1981 and 1982 in the heavy metal stronghold city of El Paso, Texas.

Finding champions in the rock and metal press, especially UK’s Kerrang magazine, they released the “Wild Dogs” LP in 1982. Their rising popularity making them the perfect opening act for Iron Maiden on their Beast On The Road UK tour, which is captured on CD 2.

Reunited in 2008 after a 2 decade abscence, Feinstein, Canedy and Bordonaro became once again firm festival favorites, especially in Europe as captured live at the Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany in 2009 which is featured on CD 3.

Comeback album “Vengeance” was released in 2011 to positive reviews, featuring tracks that had been previously previewed at a performance in their hometown of Cortland, New York in 2010, which is featured here on CD 4.

SICK CENTURY Release Alien Horror Cover Video for WHITE ZOMBIE’s ‘More Human Than Human’

Pennsylvania based rock band SICK CENTURY has released the official music video for their 6th release, a gritty cover of the iconic 1995 WHITE ZOMBIE hit single, “More Human than Human.” Produced by Paint The Light Productions, “More Human than Human” is the band’s sixth release.

“We didn’t really plan this one. It was more like a fun idea in between tracking originals. The song turned out so good, we scheduled a video shoot the next week where we got all our friends together in a little barn spot in the woods and just rocked it. We love White Zombie/ Rob Z. and that entire era of heavy music so it’s a huge honor to be able to do something like this. The video’s definitely got that whole “creep show” vibe to it. It was shot around Halloween so everyone was feeling the spirit plus we’re all fans of the Z. Dude pretty much created a whole genre, or at least assigned himself the wizard of the funky macabre.” – SICK CENTURY

Buy/stream “More Human than Human” HERE.

Sick Century began in 2019 when Scott Hoon and Marc Kahn started working together on a side project between bands. The two toyed around with a few demos that would later turn into singles “Rampart” and “Altered States.” The chemistry was there but while the duo had demoed several tracks, the lineup would not be complete until January of 2020 when Nick Black and Brady Hearn came aboard. Black and Kahn had been friends for a few years while Hearn started off the year touring with All That Remains  and  Lacuna Coil in band Eximious (with ex-members From Ashes To New). His decision to move onto Sick Century would come in mid January.

Since forming, the band has released multiple singles with the video release of Alice in Chains’ cover “Them Bones,” being their 2020 debut.

While the abundance of death metal is a plus in 2021, there is still plenty of room for some rock and roll.  Today, UMBILICUS is introduced to the world.  Featuring drummer and lyricist of CANNIBAL CORPSE, Paul Mazurkiewicz on drums, Taylor Nordberg (INHUMAN CONDITION, THE ABSENCE, FORE) on guitar, Vernon Blake (ANARCHUS, NAPALM DEAH [live]) on bass, and vocalist Brian Stephenson (FORE, OLD JAMES), the quartet has turned down the violence and gore, and turned up the peace and love.

Mazurkiewicz says: “UMBILICUS was formed in the summer of 2020 and driven by our love of rock and roll from the late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s.  I’ve been listening to well-known bands like Grand Funk, Bad Company and Steppenwolf and not-so-well-known bands like Sir Lord Baltimore and Lucifer’s Friend for the last 20 years or so now.  The more I listened to these bands the more I wanted to play music like this.  It is just so much fun to sit back and groove out and play by complete feel without beating my body down.  To just play some pure hard rock!  We composed 10 very cool songs throughout 2020 but the one piece of the puzzle was missing: an awesome voice to tie it all together.  Enter Brian Stephenson! An amazing vocalist and lyricist that completed the lineup! I am so proud of what we have written and I can’t wait for the world to hear what we have to offer!”

The band is currently finishing up their debut album, yet-untitled, to be released in 2022. More details regarding track-listing, artwork, and release date will be announced soon.  A teaser video is available below which features a short demo mix of a new song.

UMBILICUS is:
Brian Stephenson – vocals
Paul Mazurkiewicz – drums
Vernon Blake – bass
Taylor Nordberg – guitar

RAZOR Guitarist Dave Carlo’s Wife Struggling To Survive Against All Odds Stage Four Cancer

Guitarist Dave Carlo from Canada’s Thrash legends Razor joins Jimmy Kay from The Metal Voice along with Youtube’s Big Personality ‘Razorfist’ go live to discuss Dave Carlo’s wife’s struggle to survive against all odds  stage four cancer.

Plus Carlos to give an update on the bands upcoming new album,  ‘Cycle of Contempt’.

Rose Carlo needs major help with cancer treatment! Read Story Here, donate.

“Hello, I am Dave Carlo. I am fundraising for my beautiful wife Rosanna. Rose is a fantastic wife, an even better mother to our two kids. Our son has autism and a number of extremely difficult challenges in his life. My daughter has Borderline Personality Disorder and OCD and she has attempted suicide three times over the last 5 years, thankfully without success. The last attempt was October 2020 where she jumped off a bridge and broke her back. Even though Rose was undergoing chemo at the time, she was at Patricia’s bedside at the hospital at all hours during that time. Rose’s devotion to her family is heroic.

In June 2020 Rose had a gallbladder attack and was scheduled to have her gallbladder removed. During that surgery they discovered cancer on the exterior of her gallbladder. Normally the prognosis for gallbladder cancer is very poor but because it was found incidentally, it was still at a very early stage. A follow up surgery to remove part of her liver and some regional lymph nodes unfortunately showed some cancer in her lymph nodes. She went through a year of chemo with limited results, and was referred for clinical trials at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto Canada. Unfortunately what appeared to be indifference to the need for Rose to get help in a timely manner led to constant delays and four months without any treatment whatsoever. Now the cancer has progressed from stage 2 to early stage 4 , completely because of the lack of action on the part of the people charged with her care.

Realizing that time was being wasted in a manner far more flippant that you would expect under these circumstances, I reached out to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota in October of 2021. Sending them all pathology slides, images and test reports (with the help of our fantastic GP doctor), we got a team of caregivers and doctors in place at the Mayo Clinic to provide guidance on what we need to do to help Rose.

Rose will likely have to go to Minnesota for treatment, but the costs are very high. The costs already incurred to cover all the reviews and analysis of reports at the Mayo Clinic has added up and will continue to increase as they get involved to help her moving forward. But their input and guidance is absolutely critical at this point to try and save my wife. My kids really need and depend on this wonderful lady (to speak nothing of what she means to me!!). We have reviewed the upcoming financial demands of her treatments and we are asking via fundraiser to try to raise around 50% of what is required. I honestly am a bit embarrassed to have to do this, but with my wife’s life hanging in the balance, I have no choice. I would give my own life to save her if I could.

Rose just turned 61 years old. Her mother is alive and about to turn 88 years old, so if we can get Rose into remission, she has a strong chance of many years ahead of her.

If you are in a position to help and are willing to, we would be beyond grateful. Those of you who know me as a professional musician know I have committed to doing something to give back in any way I can to thank you for your help.

All the best.

Dave.
