Today (December 10th), Swedish doom lords SORCERER release their new cover single and music video “Waiting for Darkness” to all major digital platforms via Metal Blade Records. Check out the video for the song at:
Before gearing back up to write on their new studio album for Metal Blade Records, and to have some fun during the pandemic vacuum, Sorcerer shows reverence to their musical heroes and influencers. On this list of respect there is of course no escaping Rock ‘n’ Roll Rebel Ozzy Osbourne! Sorcerer chose the final track of Ozzy‘s 1983 solo album Bark at the Moon – “Waiting for Darkness” – to be the fourth single and powerful finale of their four-track digital (only) EP Reverence.
The full cover EP Reverence is available now on all digital platforms.
In the previous months Sorcerer have already released acclaimed cover singles of Rainbow‘s classic “Gates Of Babylon“, Black Sabbath‘s “When Death Calls” and Saxon‘s epic “Crusader“.

Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD kicking off the campaign for their new studio album “Synchro Anarchy”, scheduled for worldwide release on February 11th, 2022 via Century Media Records.
The first single off “Synchro Anarchy” is being launched today with the track “Planet Eaters”. Check it out in a video clip directed by Pierre Menetrier here:
VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin commented about the track and the video as follows: “On April 21st, 2021 an animated video for the song “Nothingface” popped up online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uqv9G24YzI). The video was done by Pierre Menetrier on an Amiga computer in 1991, which I thought was beyond cool. The spectacular imagery and visual effects were just perfect for a Voïvod song. After wrapping up the recording and mixing of the “Synchro Anarchy” album, we all agreed on “Planet Eaters” as the first single/video. We thought the song had a vintage “Nothingface”/”Hatröss” vibe, so I immediately contacted Pierre and asked him if he could make a video for the song. Once again, the result is just mind-blowing. You just can’t get more Voïvodian than that!”
“Synchro Anarchy” was recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio / https://radicart.net/ in Québec, Canada and mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering / http://www.maorappelbaum.com/ in California, U.S.A and produced by VOIVOD. The album features cover artwork by VOIVOD’s Michel “Away” Langevin and includes the following track-listing:
VOIVOD – “Synchro Anarchy” – Album:
Paranormalium
Synchro Anarchy
Planet Eaters
Mind Clock
Sleeves Off
Holographic Thinking
The World Today
Quest For Nothing
Memory Failure
Next to the Jewelcase CD, LP and Digital Album formats, “Synchro Anarchy” will also be available in a Deluxe edition as Ltd. 2CD Mediabook and as Digital Album (2CD), containing the special “Return To Morgöth – Live 2018” bonus disc, which features a full live-show recording of VOIVOD’s 35th Anniversary hometown appearance at the Festival Jonquière En Musique from June 29 th, 2018. The show was recorded and mixed by Francis Perron, mastered by Yannick St-Amand and features the following track-listing:
VOIVOD – “Return To Morgöth – Live 2018” – Bonus Disc:
Closing in on 40 eventful years of existence, VOIVOD now return with their 15th (!) studio album, reaffirming to be one of the most fervently creative bands in the Universe. “Synchro Anarchy” follows 2018’s highly praised and Juno Award winning “The Wake” album as well as 2020’s stellar “Lost Machine – Live” release.
Michel “Away” Langevin added: “We are eager to present our latest work, a real collaborative effort. The new album represents countless hours of writing, demoing, recording, mixing and so on. The band and Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio gave their very best to make it happen under unusual circumstances, which led us to call it “Synchro Anarchy”. We feel that the sound and music are 100% Voïvod, and we hope everyone will enjoy it as much as we had fun making it. We certainly can’t wait to play it live!”
This past October, metal legends ARCH ENEMY returned with their first new song in four years: “Deceiver, Deceiver”. Yesterday (December 9th), the band launched another standalone single, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen: “House Of Mirrors” – which debuted yesterday on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal with Jose Mangin! Stream “House Of Mirrors” now worldwide; watch the new video (directed by Grupa13) for the track HERE.
Guitarist Michael Amott comments: “Musically, this is an idea that has been bouncing around in my head for a while, and finally it got finished. It all started with the guitar motif that kicks off the track, which naturally leads to the galloping 80’s-metal feel of the verses. As is always the case with us, we had quite a few different arrangements and demos of this song until it was, dare I say, fckn perfect!”
Front-woman Alissa White-Gluz adds: “‘House of Mirrors’ is a song that twists its way into the human psyche. I wrote the lyrics during a dark time of strict, dystopian lockdown, and I think people will be able to relate to that feeling of being totally alone – but never truly alone – when you are surrounded only by past and future versions of yourself as company.”
Continuing the fearless exploration of their legendary sound’s outer limits, UK Grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH announce the release of a new Mini-Album entitled “Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes”, out February 11th, 2022 via Century Media Records.
“Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes” is a partner recording to NAPALM DEATH’s latest, much acclaimed “Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism” album from 2020, concluding matters through vital, tumultuous Grindcore and shockwave ambience.
While currently on the road across North America, NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark “Barney” Greenway checked in with the following comment about the upcoming release: “ You can certainly consider “Resentment Is Always…” as an extension of – or partner recording to – the “Throes…” album. We had long since wanted to put a mini-album out – in the spirit of the old days – and found we had enough quality tracks even after all the “Throes…” bonus tracks to do that. Hopefully this mini holds some nice twists in its own right for people, and certainly covering “People Pie” by Slab! made us really stretch ourselves, which feels great artistically. In the end, resentment is certainly seismic – it can trigger the complete erosion of humanity in many situations. That was the point that I really wanted to hammer home overall”
“Narcissus”, the furious opening track of the release, is being launched today as small foretaste of the Mini-Album. Make sure to check it out at full volume here:
““Narcissus” just seemed to fit the bill as one of those rampaging tracks that we always seem to gravitate towards as an album opener. The low-slung concrete mixer bassline at the start really ushers it in nicely. It was written at a time when the ‘alt-right’ was parading itself around, so lyrically I like to think it exposes the vanity and personality cult of that whole thing.”, added Greenway.
The 8-track mini-album “Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes” comes with a total playing time of 29 minutes and will be available as Ltd. CD Digipak, Vinyl as well as in the Digital Album format with the following track-listing:
Narcissus
Resentment Always Simmers
By Proxy
People Pie (Slab! Cover version)
Man Bites Dogged
Slaver Through a Repeat Performance
Don’t Need It (Bad Brains cover version)
Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Dirge)

Tokyo based “Samurais from Hell” SURVIVE – active in the world for 20+ years – are currently in the studio, working on the band’s next full-length album, coming out in 2022. The band wants to share their studio experience with their fans, releasing jam session studio vlog updates, now available Day 10.
The band stated: “We lost the place to work with this pandemic. It’s a concert or a tour. This pandemic stopped our band from gigging and touring. We decided to use the time we have now to create new music in the studio. We will share this studio experience with our fans over the coming months as a Vlog. We are also looking for a label to release this new album in Europe and Russia. We are still composing the songs so there are jam sessions to help us to compose the final songs. The plan is to have this album out 2022. We are looking forward to see you all very soon live!”
Tokyo’s Thrash Heroes SURVIVE – active in the world for over 20 years – have forged their own indelible path within the jmetal scene. It was back in 1998, when former Death File guitarist and mastermind Nemo decided to form a thrash metal band of his own which soon became the juggernaut known as SURVIVE. Over the next two decades the band have played many big festivals (Loud Park, Beast Fest, Multiplex-motorbike event, Korean Live Rock, Formoz Festival, Asia Metal Festival, Dongducheon Rock Festival, Trendkill Extreme Feast, etc) and toured all over the world with acts such as Behemoth, United, Killswitch Engage, Dope, Pulling Teeth, Testament, Outrage, Anthrax, Hatebleed, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, Venom Inc, At The Gates, to name just a few, cementing their place in Japanese metal history. Still going strong, SURVIVE‘s latest album “Immortal Warriors” was released to the Japanese market on September 12th, 2018 and a year later, on September 24th 2019, the album is out worldwide via Sliptrick Records. SURVIVE have lost none of their verve and “Immortal Warriors” is an absolute must for fans of this fantastic, often overlooked band.
