SO HIDEOUS Share New Single ‘Souvenir (Echo)’ from Upcoming Album

NYC post-metal visionaries SO HIDEOUS have revealed “Souvenir (Echo)”, the opening track from their upcoming new album None But a Pure Heart Can Sing. It will be released on December 3, 2021 via Silent Pendulum Records.

You can now stream the track and pre-order the album here.

None But a Pure Heart Can Sing is the band’s first new album since 2015’s acclaimed Laurestine, released on Prosthetic Records. Described with words like “stunning” and “haunting,” 2015’s Laurestine is an album of post-metal tempests, augmented by a 30-piece orchestra. BrooklynVegan hailed the album as “devastating, end-of-the-world type sh*t, putting screamo, post-rock, and atmospheric black metal in a blender and really letting those modern classical influences shine with the orchestral parts.” Mass Appeal called it “metal heavily influenced by the sound of film scores… atmospheric bliss.”

Still raging as hard as ever, still expressing the extremes of torment and beauty, None But a Pure Heart Can Sing sees So Hideous incorporate new sounds and rhythms into its approach. The album features the debut of new bassist DJ Scully and drummer Michael Kadnar (also in Downfall Of Gaia) – the explosive rhythm section of The Number Twelve Looks Like You.

Brandon Cruz describes in detail the new direction the band has taken: “I think we still have the foundation of what we laid before, being influenced largely by Japanese post-metal bands Mono and Envy, and composers such as Arvo Part and Max Richter. We wanted more rhythm this time and we expanded outward to include influences from Fela Kuti and Tony Allen‘s Afrobeat percussion, James Brown‘s horn section, and the balladry of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. It was also nice to finally experiment a bit with more Penderecki-style tone clusters and glissando on the more dissonant sections.”

Absolutely thrilling on a musical level, absolutely cathartic on an emotional level, None But a Pure Heart Can Sing is an example of the triumph of art created with open minds and open hearts.
The album album was engineered, mixed and mastered by The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Kevin Antreassian at Backroom Studios. The vocals were recorded at Atomic Garden West by Jesse Nichols. None But a Pure Heart Can Sing is now available to pre-order,  via New York’s label Silent Pendulum Records, or in Europe via the Evil Greed shop at this location!

Tech death outfit REPLACIRE is currently in the studio tracking their long-awaited new studio album, which will follow up 2017’s critically-acclaimed full-length, ‘Do Not Deviate.’ The band has shared the below studio update as well as an official music video for the song “Do Not Deviate,” which can be viewed at THIS LOCATION.

REPLACIRE comments, “While we grind on the new album, we thought it would be cool to create something with another artist for people to enjoy in the meantime. We have tracked drums for 11 new songs and are beginning work on recording guitars. Stay tuned!”

‘Do Not Deviate’ was named one of the best albums of 2017 by a multitude of accredited publications, including Loudwire, Metal Injection, Worship Metal, and more!

‘Do Not Deviate” has been hailed as “set[ting] the tone for modern, rhythmically-centered death metal. The technical work is in the cutthroat arrangements, which take hairpin turns amidst riding frenetic grooves, gaining momentum with each track until the runtime has been exhausted.” (Loudwire).

‘Do Not Deviate’ can be streamed, ordered, and downloaded HERE.

REPLACIRE was founded by guitarist Eric Alper in 2009. The band self-released their first full-length album ‘The Human Burden,’ in 2012. The ‘The Human Burden’s unique and wide-ranging material was an ambitious statement of intent, and cemented the band a thriving reputation as a must-follow heavy bands in the region. Following ‘The Human Burden’ release, the band toured extensively through the Northeast supporting the likes of BEYOND CREATION, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN and more. Footage of REPLACIRE performing “Corridors of Resolution” from ‘The Human Burden’ can be viewed here.

SAXON Announce New Album “Carpe Diem”, Out February 4th, Unleash New Single for Title-Track

Life hath no fury like a legend in full roar… and on February 4th, 2022, SAXON will show just that to the world when they release their 23rd studio album, Carpe Diem, through Silver Lining Music, serving notice to anyone who ever felt otherwise that they remain both vanguards and masters of British Metal. Comprised of 10 titanic tracks bristling with steel-clad riffery and proud intent, the Barnsely (UK) born band draw on a variety of ingredients from their career to forge what is their most dynamic release in many a year.

“It all starts with the riff,” says front man and co-founder Biff Byford, “if the riff speaks to me, then we’re on our way. It’s a very intense album, and that’s all down to the fact that the essence of a great metal song is the riff that starts it, and this album has loads of them.”

Unleashing today the title track’s roll-back attack, this is Saxon at their purest and most definitive; aggressively parading the pure metal flag and imploring fans old and new to gather and celebrate the very best of both Saxon and the genre itself.

“In Latin it means ‘seize the day’ and I think it’s a great thing to say;” continues Biff “it’s what the Romans used to say to each other on a regular basis, apparently, never having met one, I wouldn’t know! But we’re gonna do the Seize the Day world tour, the album’s Carpe Diem, this song’s called “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” and it’s such a powerful thing to say.”

Listen To/Watch “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” here

Carpe Diem will be available in a variety of formats and pre-orders can be placed at this location

Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept and Priest guitarist) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering, Carpe Diem strikes the ear as one of the most essential British metal statements of the last few years and not lacking in pace or bite, an album which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the Saxon fold.

“We want every album we make to go platinum,” says Biff defiantly. “We never make an album that we don’t expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, and as a band, we’re always trying to do something a little bit new, a little bit daring. I love fast metal like “Princess of the Night” and “20,000 Feet”, and I try and bring that style of Saxon into the music now, but in a more modern style. We don’t sound like an old band on records because we’re not sitting back on our past success, we’re always trying to make a great album.”

The genesis of Carpe Diem’s fierce intensity lies in two extremely significant life events

“It’s been a difficult two years,” offers Biff with considerable understatement, “because I had the heart attack back in September 2019, so things went a bit pear-shaped for the band. And then Covid hit two or three months later, but luckily, we started writing and recording this album before Covid. We did the drums in Germany and we did the guitars in various places. I was doing a lot of writing while I was in the hospital bed, and we spent quite a long time writing and arranging the ideas that we all had. I do think it’s a very intense album, and maybe some of that intensity comes from the frustration of not being able to do anything in the Covid period.”

DYMYTRY Sign with AFM Records

AFM Records is thrilled to announce that DYMYTRY and AFM Records will team up for common future and releases. With this collaboration, the self-titled “Psy-Core” act takes the next big step towards expansion. Together with their new singer Alen „A.L.“ Ljubic and AFM Records, the boys from the Czech Republic came to conquer Europe and the rest of the world.

“We’re happy to announce that we have joined the AFM family and we are looking forward to release our first international album “Revolt“ on the 14th of January, featuring our new English-speaking singer Alen “A.L.” Ljubić on vocals.  – DYMYTRY.

With more than 1000 concerts, five successful studio albums and a platinum award for their current album “Revolt”, DYMYTRY is already very successful and well-known in Czech Republic.

For their next big step, the band installed a second front singer Jan “Protheus” Macků, the newest member Alen on board, who re-recorded the album “Revolt”, sung in Czech, into English. The result: DYMYTRY will continue to work with “Protheus” in the Czech Republic, but also with Alen on the international market.  The brand-new English version  of the successful “Revolt”  album will be released on January 14th, 2022 via AFM Records and marks the beginning of a new time period for a band that achieved so much yet and will achieve so much more in the future.

“Four years ago we came up with the idea of expanding our musical operating radius beyond the Czech Republic. We probably wanted to get out of our comfort zone and try something new and different. After translating a few of our tracks into English, we started to look at the option of playing some shows abroad,” explains bassist Artur “R2R” Mikhaylov. After a joint single with German act Hämatom in September 2018, both bands went on tour together in October 2018; these were DYMYTRY’s first shows outside their home country. Mikhaylov: “The tour proved to us that our music also works for an international audience, and in English.” So the band decided to take this remarkable step.

So, Europe get ready for THE successful modern metal band from Czech Republic!
