DESALMADO, Death Grind quartet from Brazil, releases the video for “Across the Land”, song from the album ‘Mass Mental Devolution’ which has an announced release date for October 8, 2021. “Across the Land” is the the band’s first video clip in animation, being the third single released from their upcoming LP.

The film was directed by Walter de Andrade, who worked with the band on the music video for the song “Hollow”. According to vocalist Caio Augusttus, the director managed to capture all the essence of the band’s original idea for the video. “We had the idea of filming someone in various places, with various contexts in this imminent search for a place in the world. Walter has been making our videos and asked permission to create this animation. We consented and he threw himself headlong, it was something that we didn’t have dimension to expect, but particularly surprised me a lot, we wouldn’t be able to film in places like the one proposed by him, it was fantastic, above expectations!”, concludes the musician.

Images of a character walking and wandering through different scenarios of an unpopulated world are presented alongside scenes of the band playing the song. About the lyrical perspective, Caio comments that “the lyrics are about the search for a place, a land, a time, sinking in the emptiness that inhabits in any of us in the most difficult moments we live during our existence. It is a song based on the burden of facing the difficulties of the world”.

“Across the Land” was also released this Thursday, September 2nd, on major streaming platforms. For bassist Bruno Teixeira, the track is one of the strongest on the record. “As soon as we finished writing the song it was already clear to me that she would be one of the highlights of the album. Whenever we play this sound in rehearsal it’s clear that she has a very strong energy, I can’t wait to introduce her to the album. Alive!”, he comments.

BORNHOLM Unveil Sinister New Single + Video “I Am War God” from New Album

With over 20 years of experience and five studio albums under their belts, Hungarian black/pagan metal outfit BORNHOLM are no longer strangers to the scene. Now, the band is ready to present their exciting Napalm Records debut and brand-new, fifth studio album, Apotheosis, out November 5, 2021.

Ever since bursting onto the scene in 2000, BORNHOLM has been an unstoppable force in the black and pagan metal realms, touring with household names like Ex Deo, Varg, Arkona and many more. With their upcoming offering, Apotheosis, the unit is ready to take its career to another level and set the stage with sinister first single “I Am War God”. Mixing significant, ground-shaking black metal elements, ruthless growling and heroic pagan accents, the band absolutely showcases their variety and sonic progression.

BORNHOLM on “I Am War God”:
“The song is about the ancient instinct of war and destruction of human kind, like a chisel in the hand of the sculptor forming the world when the time comes from century to century. We live hard and historical times and it’s gonna be harder than we could ever imagine. The wheels are turning by giant and ancient powers and this is what the lyrics are about. The will is the only thing that really creates, that moves the events forward… the will against will.”

Watch the new music video for “I Am War God” HERE:

Sahsnot (Guitar/Vocals) comments:
“The video was shot among the majestic woods and century-old ruins of Sweden in two parts. At first the scenes with the band members, and after a couple of days, the actors and the storyline. This is our first video that was made by a professional director, Johan Bååth, who worked with Watain earlier for example.”

Apotheosis not only showcases BORNHOLM’s tonal development, but also goes back to the origins of the band’s history and the heavy, often almost doomy influences mixed with indispensable atmospherically dark and raw flavor. Accompanied by sinister sacral sounds of historic proportions and a hypnotizing, incantatory chant, intro track “I Divine” heralds the dark ride to nowhere. It is precisely in the void between pagan and black metal that the sound finds its home, with tracks like “Spiritual Warfare” and “Black Shining Cloaks” – the latter of which featuring a magnificent guitar solo by Mike Wead (Mercyful Fate/King Diamond) – including its diabolic, atmospheric intro, “The Key to the Shaft of the Abyss”, representing the mellowness and extremes of the band. Along with the almost melodic borrowings and acoustic guitar inserts in combination with the pure rawness of “To the Fallen”, the record highlights the band’s variety and sonic progression. The title track “Apotheosis” is a slow, howling homage mixing aggressive, shrieking vocals and melodiously grim anecdotes. Album closer “Enthronement” closes the metaphorical and musical bracket and provides the 52-minute piece with a venerable, instrumental conclusion.

BORNHOLM add:
“So the day has come, the new album is coming! Its title is Apotheosis, which is a Greek originated word meaning deification, divinization and the glorification of a human to a divine level. It contains 11 tracks and drives deeper into our musical world and soul than ever before.

We had to deal with a lot of difficulties both in the studio and in our private life during the making, but somehow something was always guarding the birth of the record. Nothing stopped, not even for a single moment, no matter what happened. It was a great experience to go through this uprising while the world is going into another direction. We didn’t lack anything; fate was with us – so the birth of the record was a sort of magical experience. Step by step, everything was in place in time and, without tolerating the outside world, we built another one for ourselves.”

Get your copy NOW!

On Apotheosis, the band has built a flowing, epochal sound concept that combines explosive guitar/bass lines with thunder-fast drums, spiced with choral elements and leading into a heavy blend, which BORNHOLM present successfully in all kinds of variations from track 1 to 11.

Recording and mixing took place at SuperSize Recording Studio in Hungary with the contribution of Viktor Scheer, with mastering completed by Maor Appelbaum, who has worked with bands like Dream Theater, Annihilator, Mayhem, Abbath and many more.

Apotheosis track listing:
1. I Divine
2. My Evangelium
3. Sky Serpents
4. The Key to the Shaft of the Abyss
5. Black Shining Cloaks
6. Spiritual Warfare
7. Darkened Grove
8. To the Fallen
9. I am War God
10.Apotheosis
11.Enthronement

Sardinia- based heavy psych and power stoner rockers, BENTREES, have revealed the first details about their upcoming, sophomore album, entitled Two Of Swords! The record will be out on November 19, 2021 through Argonauta Records.

The Italian duo plays a vibrant mix of fuzzy blues and hard rock influences, drawing from the 70’s wrapped in the glory of 90’s and early 2000’s stoner rock. With an addictive and heavy riffage, introspective lyrics, references to their homeland and the connection with nature – shrouded in a powerful psych rock sound – ever since their formation the band has created its very own, authentic formula.

Following the band’s 2017- debut, Psychollage, and countless live shows with acts such as Yawning Man, Black Rainbows, The Cosmic Dead, The Spacelords and Pater Nembrot to name just a few, BENTREES are finally gearing up for the release of Two Of Swords. Today, they have shared a first track taken from their new album!

“Finally the time has come to give you a first taste of our new album “Two Of Swords”. We have been waiting for the album release for a long time, but being able to reveal more concrete details and let you hear a first track of the album is a great joy!” The band comments.

“Two Of Swords” is made of six heavy rock tracks; it tells about duality in its multiple forms and it opens up some new musical paths for us. On this sonic journey, heavy riffs and pounding drums meet psychedelic landscapes, each song tells a story that somehow has ambivalent contours.

We believe that “Yellow”, the song we choose as the first single, represents a good part of the essence of the album and we can’t wait to get your first feedback. Have a good listening!”

Check out the first BENTREES single, the power psych rock juggernaut “Yellow”, here:

Album Tracklist:

  1. Sunrise and Sunset
  2. Yellow
  3. Hermit
  4. Brain War
  5. Flowing Waters
