ENSLAVED are proud to announce a string of very special Norwegian tour dates, titled the ‘Big Band Tour 2021‘. Joining them this October will be fellow Bergner’s, the psychedelic rock band Shaman Elephant, who will perform twice each night! Each evening will launch with Shaman Elephant’s opening performance, followed by a unique headline event – Enslaved’s set will also feature Shaman Elephant, with a total of 9 musicians gracing the stage. Every show promises a rare setlist featuring songs that have never previously been performed live, and some new interpretations of fan-favourites.

Ivar Bjørnson commented,
“We are as always moving ahead, ever trying to expand the Enslaved universe – and to challenge ourselves as a unit and as individual musicians. Some of the most exciting and learning experience come from collaborations with other artists; within all sorts of artistic expressions – sonic, visual, philosophical and so on ad infinitum.

For the Enslaved Big Band Norwegian Tour (at least that is where we start) we have invited the brilliant young Bergen band Shaman Elephant to join us on stage. We will re-arrange a broad selection from our entire catalogue for a monstrous nine-headed, two-band sea monster to perform on stage. This will be one for the chronicles!!!”

Tickets are on sale now from: http://enslaved.no/tour

There is a desert which is very old, very dry, and very dangerous. Few have ever dared to cross it, and fewer have returned. Some say that it is a desert between places, others say that it is a desert between worlds. Those who have crossed it and returned swear that the desert is another world in itself – an astral bridge, which swallows all but the most well-prepared travelers.

Travelling by sonic pathways, Enslaved‘s new ep Caravan To The Outer Worlds will set off October 1st, inviting the listener to explore the esoteric spaces which call out from just beyond the dunes.

Enslaved’s new 4-track EP Caravans To The Outer Worlds will be released on October 1st via Nuclear Blast. Pre-order physically + digitally here: https://bfan.link/caravans-to-the-outer-worlds.ema

Enslaved are seasoned voyagers. In their last venture, they descended into Utgard, deep in the dark beneath their native Norway. Now, they are preparing to set off again, not down this time, but out. They intend to cross the desert, into it and perhaps beyond it.

Following the critically acclaimed latest album South of Heaven (2020), August 27th will see the release of Heart of Crime, the brand new album by post-punk artist FOTOCRIME!

Founded by Louisville, Kentucky based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Ryan Patterson, on his third studio album Heart of Crime, Patterson continues to explore what he refers to as “electric Southern romanticism.” Featuring eleven tracks of moody and electrifying post-punk with a healthy dose of industrial and EBM thrown in for good measure, Fotocrime‘s brand new release is not only an album that throbs with pulsing synths, hammering drum machines, and economic guitar hooks, but also a release that may be Fotocrime‘s most personal offering to date.

After the previously- released single “Delicate Prey” (listen HERE), today Fotocrime has unleashed a brand new music video for the track “So So Low”.

“I’m very happy to share the ‘So So Low’ video today, my music has been the driving force in my life since I was a teenager. This video is a labor of love made by my talented friends Nick and Joe. While the music to the song makes me very happy, the theme and lyrics bring tears to my eyes every time. ‘Tied to an anchor of grief that threatens to drown us’.” Ryan Patterson states.

“Heart of Crime” will be coming out August 27th via Profound Lore and is available for pre-order here:

Taiwanese LAANG 冷 to Release Second Full-Length Album ‘Xinteng’ 心疼

LAANG 冷 (“Cold”) have announced the release of their second full-length album Xinteng 心疼 via Talheim Records on 30 September 2021. The album can be purchased from the Talheim Records webstore and Bandcamp.

Laang 冷, a post-black metal band originating in Keelung Taiwan is born from the horrifying experience of the band’s frontman楊海濤 during a near-death experience when shot. Xinteng 心疼, meaning “emotional turmoil” and “to love dearly” in Mandarin, is the musical representation of the pain, misery, and terror associated with this trauma and recovery.

The music of Laang 冷 combines aggressive non-canonical black metal riffing with melancholic melodies, tortured vocals performed in Mandarin Chinese, dark orchestras, and traditional erhu instrumentation. Their music creates an emotional and tormented soundscape that is haunting, yet captivating. While the band’s award-winning debut album Haiyang海洋 (2019) was based on the terror of being medically dead, Xinteng 心疼 rather explores the post-traumatic emotional pain of a survivor coming to grips with their own mortality. Through this emotional atmosphere, Laang 冷 drowns listeners in their immersive sea of torment.

Xinteng 心疼 delivers 8 emotionally-charged tracks that waste no time in immersing listeners in 海濤’s nightmare. Dark and depressing, yet with a haunting beauty, Laang 冷crafts an unforgettable musical experience that will touch the hearts of fans of Harakiri for the Sky, Alcest, Chthonic, White Ward, and Psychonaut 4. Drown in the melancholic nightmare of Laang 冷 with Xinteng 心疼 on 30 September 2021.

Laang 冷 is:

楊海濤 (Yang Haitao) – Guitar, orchestration, vocals

戴敬緯 (Willy Krieg Tai) – Bass

李婉伶 (Li Wanling) – Drums

Wendy Dio on Ronnie James Dio Upcoming Documentary: “I cried my eyes out, it was very emotional”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on August 23, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: Ronnie James Dio, The Metal Voice, WENDY DIO. Leave a comment

Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to Wendy Dio about the new Ronnie James Dio Book‘ ‘Rainbow in the Dark’,  the upcoming Dio Documentary and refuted claims made by former Dio Guitarist Vivian Campbell in regards his financial compensation when in the band.

When asked about the writing of the Autobiography
“Ronnie wrote up to about almost the end of Rainbow (the band). Then when he was sick he scribbled a lot of notes and then Mick Walls who was a journalist and good friend of ours and who knew Ronnie for a long time said, common Wendy let’s get the book out. And I said I would really like to continue it in Ronnie’s words. So what we did is we took all the scribbled notes that Ronnie  had left and then we went back into the archives and found press clippings of what Ronnie said at that particular time and we kind of all put it together that way. Then  I added a few things I remembered that were going on at that time as well.”

When asked what was the biggest misconception of Ronnie James Dio
“I know Vivian Campbell  said he was cheap. Ronnie was never cheap with anyone or anything, ever, ever, ever. So I don’t know how many people believe those things. I normally don’t do those things but I wanted to put in the book about how much was earned because of the fact that I am sick to death of hearing that Ronnie was cheap and paid him 100 dollars a week (Vivian). How did he buy a Ferrari at 100 dollars a week? How does Vinny Appice and Jimmy Bain buy a house at 100 dollars a week.? And (today) that is something Ronnie can’t defend himself with.”

When asked about Vivian Campbell’s Claim that he was paid less than the road crew at the time
” I will explain that, so they were on retainer (the band) so that means they got paid whether they worked or not. We may do a 6 week tour and the sound man probably got $2000 a week (only for 6 weeks) and he (Vivian Campbell) got $1700 (whether they worked or not). “

When asked about seeing the first cut on the upcoming Dio Documentary
“I did, I did, it was amazing, they did a great job I cried my eyes out. We were all crying. It was very emotional. We moved a few things around, added a few things. It was done really well. Mick Walls is excellent in it, him and Eddie Trunk are excellent. They are both going back and forth. They did an excellent job. Lita Ford does a great job, Rob Halford does an amazing job, Glenn Hughes…It’s different from the book, totally different from the book. So interesting and so touching .”

Dio’s long-awaited autobiography, titled “Rainbow In The Dark: The Autobiography”, was released on July 27 via Permuted Press. It was written with longtime friend of 30 years and esteemed music writer Mick Wall, who took up the mantle after Ronnie’s passing.

Ronnie James Dio passed away of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010 at the age of 67.
