MR. BIG Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Chart-Topping Album ‘Lean into It’ with Remastered Expanded Edition + Limited Vinyl Single Box Set

Rock supergoup MR. BIG is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their chart-topping Lean into It album with a remastered and expanded anniversary edition reissue, available digitally, on CD and as a highly collectible limited edition box set made up of five individual colored 7” singles via evoXS.Physical editions of Lean into It reissue will be available this Friday, July 30. Digital editions are available now.

First released in 1991, Lean into It is the second studio album by the group, consisting of Paul Gilbert, Eric Martin, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey. This is the band’s breakthrough album, with Lean into It peaking at number 15 on the Billboard 200 charts, while the single “To Be with You” hit and remained number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. The follow-up single, “Just Take My Heart,” was a Top 20 hit, peaking at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.The million-selling album also contains the popular tracks “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” “Alive and Kickin” and “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind.” Lean into It shows that MR. BIG could also strip away all the flash and 7-minute solos and simply create well-written songs with rhythm, groove and good melodies, making the band one of the iconic new wave of progressive “musician’s bands” who could play mind-blowing complicated riffs on their instruments at lightning speeds.

evoXS has remastered the album using the hi-resolution digital transfers from the original analogue master tapes for MQA-CD (2 CD), hybrid SACD, 180g Vinyl LP and Hi-Res digital. The hybrid multi-channel SACD plays on both SACD and regular CD players. MQA is an award-winning technology that delivers the sound of the studio. MQA-CD plays on all CD players. When a conventional CD player is connected to an MQA-enabled device, the CD will reveal the original master quality. The SACD has a new multi-track mix in 5.1 surround sound which provides the ultimate sound quality experience. The MQA-CD (2 CD) – disc 1 contains the remastered tracks from the original album and disc 2 contains the previously unreleased Kevin Elson produced tracks, “Stop Messing Around” and “Wild Wild Women,” hard to find bonus tracks and versions minus bass and guitar tracks, specially made for musicians to jam with.

EMPLOYED TO SERVE have released “Mark Of The Grave,” the second single from their forthcoming album, Conquering.  

“This song is about people who’d rather put other people down, instead of getting on with their own lives,” says Employed To Serve frontwoman, Justine Jones. “When writing this song we wanted to try our hand at writing a positive metal anthem for people to blast when they’re having a shitty day. Employed To Serve recently appeared on the mainstage of Download Festival at Donington Park. The event marked a moment in history, seeing live music return as part of a government-backed Pilot scheme. The Guardian noted Employed To Serve as a festival highlight, commenting, “Employed to Serve exude venom” whilst Metal Hammer called their set “relentless” & “blistering”; Kerrang! were just as enthused, adding, “Sammy Urwin’s sledgehammer riffs awaken Download’s inner headbanger, while Justine Jones’ barbed screams urge those gathered to toss any notion of social distancing in the bin.”

After a year and a half absence from the spotlight, ANOTHER LOST YEAR return with a new label, re-release bundle pre-sale and tour dates!

Five years after the success of their breakout LP Alien Architect, Another Lost Year have partnered with Godsize Records to produce an extremely limited bundle for their fans. In addition to the award winning full length, produced by ALY and Jose Urquiza (The Attic Recording Studio), this bundle includes physical releases of all 3 of the band’s EP series The Revolution – a collectable reprint of Part 1, the first version of Part 2 ever available in physical form, and the all new Part 3. Along with the 4 releases, included is a signed and numbered postcard featuring the re-imagined 5th Year Anniversary Artwork for Alien Architect, inspired by the original art.

Canadian SLOWPOKE Premiere New “Slumlord” Single

Canadian Doom/Punk/Psychedelic band SLOWPOKE stream the second single – “Slumlord” from their debut self-titled album via The Ripple Effect which will be released on all platforms on July 31st.

Slowpoke adds:  “Slumlord is a straight up punk tune with a twist. It was written after an experience Ben Chapman-Smith had with a landlord in St John’s and serves as a cathartic release from all the frustrations of renting from unqualified and opportunistic landlords.”

Slowpoke are set to release their debut self titled LP August 22nd 2021. The LP was recorded mixed by Rick Hollett at Redhouse Recording in NL Canada (sHeavy, Hey Rosetta!) and mastered by Chris Keffer (Black Keys, Cheap Trick) at Magnetic North Studio in Utah, USA. Slowpoke adds “It’s been a privilege working with such a talented team. We worked hard on the album and we can’t wait to get it out there.”

Slowpoke’s self-titled debut runs the gamut of heavy genres. It features epic, psychedelic passages that transition to fast punk rock, righteous riffs, fuzz-laden doom and some straight up rock and roll. Slowpoke keeps things interesting with progressive songwriting and by drawing from a wide range of inspiration including bands like Clutch, The Melvins, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Black Sabbath and many more.

Melbourne progressive instrumental trio THE OMNIFIC – featuring the unique line-up of two bass players and a drummer – have released their new single, ‘Scurryfunge’, taken from their forthcoming debut record Escapades.

Drummer Jerome Lematua comments:“’Scurryfunge’, true to its meaning, is a chaotic journey representing our many years growing as writers and as a band. Being one of the most collaborative songs to date, it mirrors the unpredictability of life. Transitioning from groovy bops, to fast paced crazy blast beats (an Omnific first), to all the way down to a mellow double bass solo (the next logical bass step).”

LOCH VOSTOK Release New Video “Enter the Resistance”

New video “Enter the Resistance” from Sweden’s progressive metal veterans LOCH VOSTOK. The son is taken from the new album “Opus Ferox – The Great Escape” that is released today.

“Enter the Resistance” is telling the story of the revolution against the Papacy, the new world order that has risen after the catastrophe that has plagued the earth in the Opus Ferox storyline. Featuring Swedish author Jan Guillou in a small role.

Loch Vostok was born out of the ashes of Mayadome in the year 2000, from the fractured mind of Teddy Möller. Loch Vostok is where anything goes. Where cheese meets grind. Where speed meets groove. This year marks the 20th year anniversary for the band, and with that some changes are introduced. Leaving the lead vocal duties, to focus on guitars and growl, Teddy passes the baton over to Jonas Radehorn.

Jonas Radehorn has been the singer of various genres in ands since age 15. The Citadel, Falling Down and as a Rob Halford soundalike in the fantastic Judas Priest tribute band ”Metal Gods – Delivering the goods” (featuring ex Dark Funeral drummer Nils Dominator Fjellström). Professional studio and show singer since 2000.

With this new solid lineup, Jonas as the lead singer and new bass player Patrik Janson, Loch Vostok is entering a new era, with new energy. An era with new songs and possibilities. An era with epic three part harmonies between Jonas, Teddy and Niklas. The same kind of heavy songs, mixed with strong melodic parts as before. But with a stronger focus. More determination. And a live show to count on.
