Swedish MANIMAL Share Details + New Song From Upcoming Album “Armageddon”

Three years since their latest and highly acclaimed album, Purgatorio, Gothenburg metal force MANIMAL has announced to return with a brand new studio record this Fall! Armageddon is slated for a release on October 8, 2021 via AFM Records.

Despite the band‘s loyalty to traditional heavy metal influences, Purgatorio was a prime example of modern and trend-setting power metal characterised by musical enthusiasm, exceptional talent and new ideas. As expected of a band that claims Judas Priest, King Diamond and Queensrÿche as major influences on their sound since Day 1, MANIMAL’s new record is a high energy, in-your-face salute to the music that inspired them over the past 20 years.

But calling MANIMAL “just” a power metal band, however, is way off the mark according to vocalist Samuel Nyman. “We are more than power metal. It was our label that put Manimal into the power metal category with our first album, and we understand that completely because they had to put us in a genre to guide people. Power metal for me are bands like Helloween, Gamma Ray and Stratovarius; they have more up-tempo songs, more vocal harmonies. Sure, Manimal does have power metal elements but we’re not pure power metal. There is more to us than that and I think the new album is perfect example of that.”

Each single marked for the release of Armageddon proves that. After MANIMAL shared a first album sneak peak with the previously- released single “Forged In Metal” (Listen HERE!), today the Swedish four- piece unleashed a brand new song, the epic album closing track “The Inevitable End”!

“The song represents the more melodic side of Manimal,” Nyman reveals, “with strong harmonies and a catchy chorus.” Check out the new MANIMAL single right here:

The songwriting for Armageddon was once again headed up by guitarist Henrik Stenroos, considered by his bandmates to be the musical mastermind behind MANIMAL. And therein lies the secret to the band’s more-than-power-metal sound. Stenroos listens to all different types of music and because of that colourful musical palette, according to Nyman, “he boils it down and gets his own ideas, trying to create something he likes himself.” Stenroos has a solid riff-oriented approach to MANIMAL‘s music, and the material he presented to the rest of the band for Armageddon were actual songs rather than just mere ideas. As with their three previous records, the quartet worked together fleshing the songs into their final form. “The vocals harmonies Henrik gives me are played with the guitar,” says Nyman, offering up one example of their creative process for Armageddon, which was mixed by MANIMAL bassist Kenny Boufadene at his Studio Meltdown in Sweden. “We have been making music together for so many years now that I can almost hear by the way he’s playing how he wants me to deliver the vocals. It’s not very often that we disagree in the songwriting process.”

”I’m really proud we’ve managed to create yet another great album together.” Henrik Stenroos adds. “And it’s been a team effort. All four of us have put so much soul and effort into everything from song writing to recording, with the result of a really heavy and all through awesome sounding album without any fillers what so ever. The fans of our previous works will not be disappointed.”

MANIMAL‘s evolution between Armageddon and their first album, The Darkest Room – released in 2009 – is unquestionable. Their songwriting has become tighter, stronger and bolder, and they have improved by leaps and bounds as musicians. Armageddon will showcase their wide range of a heavy as hell sound, and one that will most likely win over the true hearts of both the oldschool and every modern metal fan!

BRIAN SETZER to Release New Solo Album ‘Gotta Have The Rumble’

BRIAN SETZER will release GOTTA HAVE THE RUMBLE, his first solo album in 7 years, August 27 on Surfdog Records physically (CD) and digitally, with the vinyl out this fall (TBA), the iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and 3-time Grammy award-winner shared the first single/video, “Checkered Flag,” off the 11-track all original album.

Produced by Julian Raymond (Glen Campbell and Cheap Trick), GOTTA HAVE THE RUMBLE contains songs, all written or co-written by Setzer, and was recorded in Minneapolis (Setzer’s adopted hometown) and Nashville. GOTTA HAVE THE RUMBLE is a red-hot album from start to finish–American music amped up to 10–with songs that are full of dynamism and bravado.  Highlights include “Checkered Flag,” “Smash Up On Highway One,” “Drip Drop,” “The Cat with 9 Wives,” “One Bad Habit” and “Rockabilly Banjo.”  The track listing is below.

“Obviously, it’s a reference to my motorcycles and hot rods, something that hasn’t changed since I was 15 years old,” says SETZER about the album title GOTTA HAVE THE RUMBLE. “I still have the same passion for going fast and adrenaline. But it’s also about my hearing problem with tinnitus–the ringing of the ear. It was pretty bad, and I realized that I couldn’t play the way I wanted to. As I recovered, standing in front of a small amplifier just didn’t cut it. The sound from my big amp makes the guitar rumble. Which is a big part of my sound. I was really despondent for a while because I thought I wouldn’t be able to do that again. So, ‘Gotta Have The Rumble’ refers to both of those things.”

Roman stoner rockers SOLAR MANTRA have finally revealed the first details of their upcoming, new album. Away is the band’s long awaited, first full- length, and will be out as CD and Digital formats on September 3, 2021 through Argonauta Records.

SOLAR MANTRA, who formed in 2017, takes its listener on a wild fuzz rock trip into a psychedelic wonderland. With their catchy yet powerful and heavily groovy stoner sound, the Italian four-piece creates a revitalizing vibe that is immediately evident. From the crushing album opener “Stone Rider” to the equal bracing, grande finale “Solar Mantra”, Away unleashes eleven gritty and hooking songs that deliver the perfect soundtrack for a roadtrip in the sun!

“Candyman is a song about disappointment, about the subverted expectations in common social life. It tells the story about a guy (the candyman) who falls in love with a prostitute believing that she is giving him a “special treatment” with discounted rates, just because she is returning his love, ” vocalist Tommaso Santillo tells us. “But the truth is that he’s paying even more than the other customers and when he realises that, he loses his love and his selfconfidence.”

“Away is the result of a new creativity vein that came from the new line up, since 2019, with Francesco on guitar and Federico on bass,” he continues. “The different influences from our first EP created a new sound and groove that comes to light on our new album “Away”.

The leitmotif is the hypocrisy of the appearance, about the difference between our real emotions, feelings, believes, opinions and what we want or we are forced to show in this “over-ruled” social enviroment. The artwork expresses the will to escape from this black hole of social rules and regulamentations towards the inspirating light of the sun… in one word: “Away”.”

E-FORCE Sign to Mighty Music, New Album Out in November

Always striving to gather a relevant and talented group of names in it’s catalog, Mighty Music is extremely proud to announce the enlistment of E-FORCE, the band led by ex-Voivod vocalist/bassist Eric Forrest, into its ranks. The first release under this partnership will be E-Force’s fifth studio album, “Mindbender”, to be released on November 19th, 2021.

Forrest comments: “Very proud to announce the fact that the new E-Force “Mindbender” release will be a collaboration/cooperation with Mighty Music. This shit is going to kill you! Impulsive E-Force trademarks, with a side-order of Voivod! This dosage of mayhem is going to fuck you up! Not to mention, a hidden treasure… “Insect 2021”! Beware…“.

E-Force was formed in Montreal, Canada in 2001 by vocalist/bassist, Eric Forrest, upon his departure from the legendary Canadian cyber metallers Voivod. In all Eric appeared on two studio masterpieces, “Negatron” and “Phobos”, on the live album, “Voivod Lives” and on the compilation: “Kronik”. When leaving Voivod, Forrest used his nickname, “E-Force”, as the name for his new band.

Labeled monsters of thrash, Eric Forrest’s wide array of musical influences and vocal capabilities set E-Force apart from the pack and ensure that this band is very original. E-Force released their debut album “Evil Forces” to widespread critical acclaim in 2003. Soon after Forrest relocated to France, resulting in a line-up change.

In 2008, E-Force released their follow-up, “Modified Poison”. The album further expanded the intensity of the band, impressing both fans and critics alike.

In 2014 the band released their third album “The Curse”, on Mausoleum Records. “Curse” was a concept album based on a collection of songs describing the power and temptation of, and obsession with the female race.

The fourth album was released in 2015 on Mausoleum Records: “Demonikhol”, lyrically another concept album with alcohol as the subject matter, illustrating the ravages and destruction of all kinds it is capable of causing. Musically E-Force has become an intense and shatteringly percussive killing machine, driven by battering ram guitars, supporting Eric’s primal screaming vocal assault.

In 2017, to celebrate the anniversary of Voivod’s legendary album “Phobos”, Forrest led a European tour performing songs from “Negatron” and “Phobos” albums by Voivod. The band assembled for that tour was operating under the name “E-Force Performing Voivod”. In 2018 the tour achieved by participating to the “Brutal Assault” festival (Czech Republic).

Throughout the band’s 20 years career (performing in 20 countries, 250+ shows and several festival appearances) as well as some guests on different E-Force albums (Glen Drover, Kristian Niemann, to name a few), Eric will now return with the opus “Mindbender”, released in 2021 on Mighty Music records and involving the “E-Force Performing Voivod” line-up: Patrick Friedrich on drums and Sébastien Chiffot on guitars. “Mindbender” will still be in the catchy vein characterizing the E-Force style, but will also add slower tempos parts and particular ambiences, making the connection with Eric’s venture as a cult member of Voivod.
