In the fleeting moments between the state of being awake and reaching the doors of dreamworld lies a borderland whence comes the mood music of ancient stories told – the celestial unison of three creative souls known as AURI.
Originally born in 2011 from the special connection of Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas Holopainen and Troy Donockley, AURI was first introduced to the world as late as 2018. Now complemented by the dynamic percussive talents of Kai Hahto, the threesome carves fantastical worlds entirely their own.
Today, the band announces the release of their new album “II – Those We Don´t Speak Of”, set for September 3rd via Nuclear Blast.
The cover artwork comes once again from Janne “ToxicAngel” Pitkänen and bestows in its simplicity and depth. The first single and pre-order start will be revealed very soon!
Line up: Johanna Kurkela | voices, violin, viola, keys Tuomas Holopainen | keys & backing voices Troy Donockley | guitars, bouzouki, mandola, ulleann pipes, low whistles, aerophone, bodhran, voices, keys
Arizona’s GO AHEAD AND DIE are proud to release their self-titled debut album via Nuclear Blast Records. GO AHEAD AND DIE is a raw, urgent, unrelenting, thrillingly shocking, and vibrant new band. In celebration of the release, the band offers fans the music video for ‘G.A.A.D’ which features a news broadcast from Ice T.
Max Cavalera comments, “Pissed off! Angry! Unapologetic! Raw! This album is what happens when greed and injustice take over. We must use our music as a weapon!”
Igor Amadeus states, “‘G.A.A.D.’ is the anthem to this album and to these f***ed up times. A middle finger to those in control, those that decide who lives and who dies.”
Watch the video for ‘G.A.A.D.’ directed by Jim Louvau, here:
Born from the mind of creative writer and musician Igor Amadeus Cavalera of HEALING MAGIC and extreme metal icon, and SOULFLY leader Max Cavalera. GO AHEAD AND DIE‘s tempos are wild, with a contempt for modern social ills palpable, its riffs monstrous and captivating. They make angry, spiteful, utterly engaging, spirited extreme music for increasingly extreme times.
The self-titled debut sees Max and Igor splitting guitar and vocal duties, with utter madman style drumming from Zach Coleman of the blistering BLACK CURSE and critically-acclaimed KHEMMIS. It sounds like a relic from the glory days of thrash, proto-death metal, and filthy rotten punk, the kind of band that would inspire a teenaged thrasher in 1987 to carve the G.A.A.D. logo into a school desk.
Guitar shredder and string virtuoso GUS G. has released his exceptional new single „Fierce“. To round this up, Gus teamed up with filmaker Panagiotis Kountouras to produce a videoclip that offers unequalled opportunities – a very special love story with corpsepaint included. Are you ready for this?
No black metal makeover, nor did he change his style of music – Gus is just having fun doing something totally unexpected. With corpsepaint on his face he’s trying to overcome the daily rockstar routine and in the end finds true love.
Gus G. states on this: „I came up with the concept of a lonely Rock star who eventually finds true love in the eyes of “Necromantissa” – a girl he previously kept hostage in his dungeon. Music finally unites them and they live happily ever after and even form a Metal band. Nightmare or reality? […] We had tons of fun shooting this, getting in full makeup. I love certain black metal & shock rock aesthetics & wanted to try something different, instead of doing yet another performance video. And I also wanted to make a video with my cats too“
“Fierce” is the follow up single to “Exosphere”, Gus’ first solo music release in 3 years which came out back in April and was very well received by guitar fans & instrumental music lovers. The single proved to be a nice opportunity for Gus to engage with his fans, after he invited them to virtually jam with him by uploading their own version of the track.
Life on the road isn’t all glamour and rock’n’roll excess and MOTÖRHEAD’s punishing tour schedule in 1981 took them all over the globe as they rode high on the success of Ace Of Spades. One integral part of the daily grind on the road is the sound check, although very little of it is ever seen or documented in the public domain. Fortunately during the Short Sharp Pain In The Neck tour of March 1981, MOTÖRHEAD had a mobile recording studio in tow as they recorded their thunderous, number 1 live album, No Sleep ‘Til Hammersmith now celebrating its 40th year. This rare recording of them performing “Stay Clean” as they warmed up for the night at Newcastle on March 30 is accompanied by a video containing behind the scenes montages of the backbone of the MOTÖRHEAD live show; the legendary road crew!

THE COLD STARES will release their new studio album ‘Heavy Shoes’, on August 13th via Mascot Records. The band has shared a new video for the title track, watch it below.
Chris Tapp comments:
“Heavy Shoes is a metaphor for something that is weighing you down. Could be a relationship, an addiction, or just something you can’t let go of. That feeling of every step being heavier than the last and not being able to carry the baggage any further. Heavy Shoes was the first song I had written for the album, and kind of a template we wanted to use for the rest of the record. Heavy, bluesy, straight ahead and honest.
What you hear on the track is the first take we did at Sam Phillips Studio in Memphis. If I remember right, it might have been the first song we recorded as well. I think I went back and recut some vocals and maybe part of the solo in late 2020 at my home studio, but the song is about as live and real as a studio session can be.
We shot the video in a old church from the 1800’s. The church was abandoned, and in the 1980’s it was set for destruction when a woman bought it. The lady had the church moved about a mile down the road to her property and slowly started to preserve it. It’s cool that today it’s structurally sound, but they haven’t changed anything from on the interior from the day the church closed its doors. Like a lot of places I love, you can feel the memories and peoples experiences in the walls.”
There’s a richness running through the songs with dark, multi-layered narratives that course through every twist and turn. Dirty fuzzed-up rock and roll meet blues, garage, desert rock and a Southern Gothic sensibility. Sombre storytelling is etched into their songs with unflinching honesty. For Chris Tapp and Brian Mullins, authenticity is their hallmark.
The Nuggets-era psychedelic garage-rock “In The Night Time” is the band striving for something more unique and is inspired by the southern gothic city of St Augustine, Florida. “The whole city is a graveyard. So many Spaniards are buried there,” singer-guitarist Tapp says. “When you’re walking the streets, it’s like you’re walking on the graves. I was visualising walking late at night, with things in the shadows coming alive, and It’s joyous.” The day of the dead inspired narrative and visuals ties into the incredible cover-art by Corey Booth (Rick & Morty) which highlights that darkness doesn’t need to be menacing, it can be beautiful too.
Now on their fifth album, the road-worn warriors have crisscrossed the US, playing the Mercury Lounge to the Viper Rooms, and played with Rival Sons, Spoon, Grand Funk Railroad and Thievery Corp. Their music has been streamed over 20m+ times and has featured on TV and games; ESPN, X-Games, Monster Energy, TNT’s Animal Kingdom, Dodge Motors and the smash-hit game CyberPunk 2077.
You want authenticity, take one long cold hard stare at these two. The Cold Stares are a rock ‘n’ roll band, but they take a sledgehammer to the foundation to reveal the cracks that are suppressed within it. With that, allowing themselves to be raw and open to show that, we are not alone.
