Symphonic power metallers WINTERAGE have released a video for the song ‘The Inheritance of Beauty’ – the titletrack of their second album released by Scarlet Records last January.
This is how the band commented: “”They’re observing the beauty / No one is looking at where her gaze is turned” – the search for pure beauty must never cease to exist in an artist, nor must be replaced by a personal gain. With this song and video, we wanted to create something beautiful which can make grow the awareness of what is right, pure and valid grow into the hearts of the listeners. The inheritance of beauty lives within everyone: it’s up to us to have the courage to revive it.”
Over 50 musicians and other professionals took part in the production of ‘The Inheritance of Beauty’, including Tommy Talamanca (Sadist), Roberto Tiranti (Labyrinth) and Vito Lo Re (Rhapsody Of Fire). Simone Coen (Chocolate Studio, Apple) mixed the album and Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse) took care of the mastering duties. The beautiful and evocative artwork was made by Peter Sàllai (Sabaton, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth).

Germany’s most thundering voices VAN CANTO recently set free their eighth studio album, To The Power Of Eight. Now the world’s most exciting acapella metal masters follow up directly and release the snappy anthem, “Dead by the Night”, along with a rousing and atmospheric lyric video.
VAN CANTO on “Dead by the Night”: “After the rather soundtrack-like intro ‘To the Power of Eight’, ‘Dead by the Night’ is the actual opener of the album. We wanted to show everything that is possible with three lead singers right at the beginning. The result is an uptempo power metal song with Rakkatakka-riffs, big melodies and a huge background choir. All this comes along with a very positive message that points out how important it is to enjoy the moment. In the end, we all can be dead by tomorrow (or by the night!).”
Watch the lyric video for “Dead by the Night”HERE:
To The Power Of Eight marks another milestone in the band’s impressive career and presents VAN CANTO as a coherent entity stronger than ever! Starting out with their first full-length, A Storm To Come (2006), the unstoppable force set the stage for their very own genre and never failed in surprising their fans and beyond through the time being, while showcasing that metal can be heavy as hell without any riffage. With their previous full length, Trust in Rust (2018), the German rarity reworked its lineup, consisting of seven members since then. For To The Power Of Eight, the unit once again joined forces with Philip Dennis “Sly” Schunke, who had been the lead singer on their first six studio records. Sly joins lead vocalists Inga Scharf and Hagen Hirschmann on all twelve flawless tracks as third vocalist and special guest. It’s clear that this peerless piece of music was written with three voices in mind: To The Power Of Eight embodies a special sense of common bond and presents VAN CANTO in undeniable peak form!
VAN CANTO on the new album: “Being able to present an album after 15 years of band history, where three lead singers share the microphone hand in hand, makes us incredibly proud. Due to the pandemic situation we had a lot of time to work on To The Power Of Eight and put all our heart and soul into the compositions, the arrangements and the production. Originally, we planned to have Sly as guest vocalist for one song – but it turned out to be twelve in total in the end. If someone would ask for one record to present VAN CANTO in the most suitable way, we would choose To The Power Of Eight.”
THE PRETTY RECKLESS have teamed up with Rolling Stone to premiere the video for the new single “Only Love Can Save Me Now” (Feat. Matt Cameron + Kim Thayil). The visual features the Soundgarden legends, as well.
“It’s hard to describe the feeling around our song ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now,'” says singer Taylor Momsen. “The song was born out of tragedy and brought to life by two of my favorite musicians of all time — Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil. Hearing them play it is simply surreal. This song represents getting through the worst time in my life, and yet, is one of my proudest achievements. It means that there is hope, and that life has to go on, and most importantly, is worth living.”
Thayil says, “It was super fun to spend time in the studio with Taylor, Ben, and Matt, and to have the opportunity to contribute to this The Pretty Reckless song. ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now’ has elements of classic Soundgarden and the riff would probably be at home on Louder Than Love. These are great guitar parts that Ben came up with. They lay down a heavy foundation that allows the entire song to open up with Taylor’s powerful and haunting vocals. Cheers, and thanks to The Pretty Reckless for inviting Matt and me to play on this track!”
Cameron shares, “Kim and I had a blast recording with Taylor and The Pretty Reckless on their new single ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now,’ a fantastic rock track that sounds amazing at full volume. Many thanks to the band for inviting us to play on their new album Death By Rock And Roll.”
The track appears on the band’s new album Death By Rock And Roll, out now via Century Media Records.
