ENTHEOS Sign Worldwide Deal With Metal Blade Records, New Album Coming in 2022

Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome ENTHEOS to its worldwide roster!

Originally formed in 2015, since 2020, the lineup has been stripped down to core founding members drummer Navene Koperweis – who has now also taken on guitar duties – and vocalist Chaney Crabb, and they have never been more vital. Armed with a sound that amalgamates death metal, groove, grunge, electronica, slam, gothic rock, jazz, prog and more, they are a wholly unpredictable beast that has evolved over the course of their career.

Navene Koperweis and Chaney Crabb comment: “We are incredibly excited to announce that we have signed with Metal Blade Records. Metal Blade is a pillar in the metal community and consistently releases music from many of the world’s greatest bands. We are proud to be associated with such a label and look forward to our future working together.”

The progressive death metal genre is a diverse movement, but even within this, Entheos stand out as a unique entity. Taking their name from a Greek word that translates to “the god within”, the band’s philosophy can be drawn from its meaning. “The English word ‘enthusiasm’ is derived from this word. We chose this name originally because of both the enthusiasm that we felt for embarking on this new journey as a band and our collective belief in ‘the god within’ – the idea that reality manifests itself from within us.” Their debut EP Primal was dropped in 2015, first full-length The Infinite Nothing following in 2016, with their most recent release – 2017’s more progressive-oriented Dark Future – being their deepest and darkest record, lyrically influenced by the suicide of a close friend of Crabb’s. In support of these records, the band have toured with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Veil of Maya, Revocation, The Contortionist, Intronaut, Goatwhore, Between the Buried and Me, Born of Osiris, Rivers of Nihil, Beyond Creation, Conjurer, Iron Reagan and many more, building a steady following and carving out a niche for themselves, but it is only now that they are truly coming into their own.

Hard at work on a new album that explores a broad musical spectrum, they plan to drop their currently untitled full-length in early 2022. The bond between Crabb and Koperweis – which extends into their personal life, having been a couple since before Entheos was even formed – contributes to the uniqueness of the band. “We respect each other greatly – not only as artists, but as people. Our relationship and the mutual passion that we have for Entheos has consistently been the backbone of this band. We share a vision that we are unwilling to compromise – in music, art, live shows and beyond. Having been together romantically for ten years, we are very aware of how to play to each other’s strengths. In the creative process, we don’t just write for the sake of our own voice being heard, but what would complement both of our musical voices and vision. We don’t want anything about this project to be an afterthought, so in the creative and planning stages, it is crucial for us to see it together as a whole and understand how we both fit in.” They dropped the track “Remember You Are Dust” in 2020 to introduce fans to the new era of the band, with Koperweis taking on guitar duty for the first time, and after its release, dove back into writing the next Entheos full-length. “We took the pandemic as an opportunity to reimagine every aspect of the band and plan on re-emerging stronger and more focused than ever with a new release. With this record, we are pushing beyond the boundaries of what we believe this band is. It is by far the heaviest and fastest record we’ve made, while simultaneously being the most dynamic and diverse showcase of genre-bending musicianship, melody and progressive themes. We are also more focused than ever on vocal performance, and Chaney will be incorporating pitched screaming and singing along with a more diverse metal vocal range.” Confident as they are, at this stage in the game, they feel that they have something to prove. “Six years, two albums and many tours later, it is just the two of us, and we want to prove that the heart and soul of Entheos is not only far from gone, but that in this iteration, we can still deliver the best and most passionate release that we have created.”

Stay tuned for Entheos‘ upcoming album – and Metal Blade Records debut – coming in 2022. In the meantime, fans can watch a new teaser video from Navene Koperweis and Chaney Crabb now at:

“With this track, we voyage deep within the crystalline mists of Epimetheus to unlock the horrific transcendental elucidation of the cosmos. However, such arcane knowledge comes at a terrible price. They joined with drummer Asgeir Mickelson (VEIL OF SECRETS, ex-IHSAHN, ex-BORKNAGAR, etc.) whom with Hægeland is also a member of the technical metal band Spiral Architect, who has released one critically acclaimed album (2000) produced by Neil Kernon (Queensrÿche, Nevermore, etc.). They then decided to invite none other than Steve Di Giorgio (TESTAMENT, DEATH, etc.) to complete the line-up. Jon Phipps (DRAGONFORCE, MOONSPELL, ANGRA, etc.) was also brought in to add orchestrations. As a special guest, Kjetil Nordhus from @tristaniaband contributes deep operatic voices that heighten (or deepen, perhaps) the mood of the songs.

Legendary band from the northwest of Mexico CRS (aka Cirrosis) lash out with the release of new material entitled “LIVE IN ISOLATION”. It´s a four track EP recorded in an exclusive live session for the online festival “MOSHFEST” in September 2020, which includes a previously unrealesed song “The Daydreamer’s Nightmare” premiered at this E.P. with a guest singer “Quetzalín Dominguez” from the Mexican band “LOST NEBULA” you can watch below the video of this single as a promotional. After the international success achieved with his latest album “The Collector of Truths” and with more than 20 years without a live presentation, the live session emerges as a great gift for his followers. The EP shows that CRS is a high-level band that carefully develops all its aspects, the virtuosity of its musicians and their millimeter execution, the great sound and video quality, a clear image as a band but above all they give us a walk through different styles of metal that always lead to raging old school death metal. They celebrate 30 years of hate showing us that they have not died in any way. Its scenic presense is still as impressive as it was in the 90s. Sir OZ lets out angry screams of despair, Chucky sits on his throne as one of the greatest metal guitarrists in Mexico proving that it’s not all about complexity, but about good and powerful riffs and well-structured solos, jumping from style to style. and coloring with amazing acoustics and melodies, Tavo Ramírez shows the technical and precision level that a Latin American drummer can have, blast beats, good nuances but above all good taste. As if that were not enough, they have an extraordinary collaboration, the virtuoso and famous bassist Kello Gonzalez (PARAZIT, NATA) accompanies them providing innovative bass arrangements that show that great musicians end up recognizing themselves. The E.P. was recorded, mixed and mastered by its guitarist and multi-nominee Grammy: Francisco “Chucky” Oroz, it couldn´t be otherwise. But not everything ends there, since for all the followers that involve CIRROSIS the EP offers two live songs as BONUS TRACKS recorded in 2000 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, “Fariseos” and “Negando lo No Negadi ”in both tracks it´s possible to appreciate why they were the kings of the stage in those years, hatred, alkol and blood, in addition to an honest proposal is what these great death metal musicians transpired.

Songs 1 to 4 were recorded at September 26, 2020 for the Moshfest festival at the Sonic Den studio, except for Kello Gonzalez at Soundboxstudio and Quetzalín Dominguez at Qsney studio. Drum Technician and Recording Engineer Max Arnold. Recording engineer in the collaboration of Quetzalín Dominguez, Jesús D. Quesney. Guitar technician, calibration and maintenance assistant Armando “Mr. Fastfingers ”Avila.

The EP will be released on all major platforms as well as physical formats via Concreto Records June 21.

2 – Tan Lejos De Dios live

Songs 5 and 6 were recorded in Hermosillo, Sonora at July 14, 2000 for the “Desierto Pegando de Gritos” gig.

CRS is a Death Metal band from Sonora, Mexico, formed in 1991 with the name of Cirrosis by Francisco “Chucky” Oroz and Sir OZ, being the only original members in the current lineup. Due to their technical capacity they incorporated early progressive elements and melodic solos, CRS quickly gained notoriety in the local and national scene. Their live performances were characterized by their intensity and fury, soon becoming a cult band. In 1996, “Joseph Lev” joined the band and they recorded their first demo “La Tierra de la Adicción” which was distribuited limitedly. In 1999, CRS entered the studio and recorded the album “Reciclando Desesperación” totally in Spanish, in which they compiled their best  songs, they offered a range of styles of Death Metal quite extensive for their time, highlighting the quality of its production. The singles of this album were “Fariseos” “Dame Tu Muerte” and “Negando lo no Negado”. In 2001, CRS decided to break up, and their members continue with their personal and professional projects. In 2014, Concreto Records reissued the album “Reciclando Desesperación” describing it as “The maladaptive sound that disturbed a style in Mexico that can currently give lessons to current” modern bands”. 20 years later, CRS recorded their second studio album “The Collector of Truths” which was also be edited by Concreto Records in December 2019. They have released 5 videos “Asfixia” “Tan Lejos de Dios” “Kill My name”, “The Daydreamer´s Nightmare” and “A Better Place to Hate”. There are two international guests playing in the album, Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Chimaira), on drums in “A Better Place to Hate”, “Tan Lejos de Dios (Nowhere.. but here)” and “I’m the Universe”, also Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Alkaloid), play bass on “The Art of Breathing”. In september 2020, they made a Live Session for the online mexican festival “Moshfest” editing such work as an EP called “Live in isolotation”.

SKRAECKOEDLAN Set To Release 10 Year Anniversary Vinyl Box

Posted by tarjavirmakari on May 18, 2021
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: SKRAECKOEDLAN. Leave a comment

As SKRAECKOEDLAN‘s debut album “Äppelträdet” turns 10, the band is launching an anniversary vinyl box. The box is telling the story of how ”Äppelträdet” grew from early demo recordings to the 2011 album – and now into something new. The box includes a completely new, 10th-anniversary edition of ”Äppelträdet”. On this edition, the three English tracks featured on the original 2011 album have been completely re-recorded from scratch with Swedish lyrics. The 10th anniversary edition of the album has been remastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna).

A decade has passed since Skraeckoedlan released their debut album “Äppelträdet”, an album that reignited and marked the start of the modern Swedish stoner rock scene. Originally recorded in 2010, in Truckfighters’ Studio Bombshelter, ”Äppelträdet” has grown to become a modern classic in the genre, with the album title-track, as well as the mighty colossus ”Cactus”, being some of the band’s most widely recognized creations until this day.

”Äppelträdet”, translated into ”The Apple Tree”, was originally released with three English tracks; “Universe”, Soluppgång”, and “Doedaroedlan”. Robert Lamu, vocalist, and guitarist in Skraeckoedlan, comments:

“We thought that we might limit ourselves as a band if we only had songs in Swedish. We cowardly wrote three songs with English lyrics, because we simply did not know if it would work to play heavy, groovy rock in Swedish and still be able to get out and play around the world, something we all had as a childhood dream. It has turned out that the Swedish songs have absolutely worked even outside of Sweden. Due to our cowardly decision, we have almost never played any of these three English songs live. We want to change that.”

Celebrating their ten-year anniversary, Skraeckoedlan is re-releasing their debut album “Äppelträdet”. This time with all 10 tracks recorded in Swedish lyrics. The English tracks have been completely re-recorded from scratch with Swedish vocals, making them more fierce and distinctive sounding than ever. All tracks have been re-mastered by Cult of Luna-drummer Magnus Lindberg who’s added a new dimension to Skraeckoedlan’s unique, massive sound.

“Äppelträdet” will be released as an anniversary vinyl box on June 11 via The Sign Records.

Skraeckoedlan’s debut album ”Äppelträdet” was produced by Truckfighters’ bass player Oskar Cedermalm and released on Transupstans Records in 2011. In 2015 they teamed up with Razzia/Sony for the release of their sophomore album ”Sagor”, and in 2019 they launched their third and latest studio full length, ”Eorþe”.
