‘We Want You Pt. Two / My Brilliant Friend’ combines organic instrumentation to the aestethetics of 90’s electronic music. The new single by AALTO is dramatic, aetherially melancholic, even a bit gothic.
Aalto has previously released another single, Dragonfly – Aether Pt.2 (11/2023) which has the same dark alternative music scape, but is more focused on the electronic side of ambience having influences from genres like trip hop.

German multicultural synth-doom metal trio NÏSTI dives deep into the human psyche in its newest creative effort “Sinner”. The song serves as a sonic confrontation with the weight of human guilt and the self-inflicted suffering that follows. Through its somber tone and heavy atmosphere, “Sinner” exposes the torment of carrying our sins toward ourselves and others peeling back the darker layers of existence that most are too afraid to face.
Sinner feels simultaneously like an internal monologue and a raging argument with someone who has wronged you. Sooner or later, we all sin – whether towards others or towards ourselves. Out of fear, greed, lust, envy, wrath, or apathy. Sometimes we are determined to carry our sins, no matter the cost – Sylvia Plath’s poem is a reminder of that. Sometimes we only realize the scope of our tragedy after we have fueled it, leaving behind a trail of shame and the awkward, uneasy silence that remains to pick up what’s left and carry on.

Oneiric Black Metal powerhouse AKHLYS just concluded the Age of Phobetor European tour, once again conjuring the shadowed majesty of acclaimed 2024 opus, “House of the Black Geminus.“
The seeds of the band’s visionary sound were sown in 2009 via debut album “Supplication“, a solo work of Horror Ambient from mainman Naas Alcameth (NIGHTBRINGER). This trance-inducing, deeply personal record evokes spiritual and mythic nightmare through haunting synthscapes, ominous sound design, spectral vocal invocations and ritualistic percussion — a 37-minute descent into the sacred depths of dream and dread.
Listen below:
Now subject to a 2025 DMP CD/vinyl reissue – which includes reworked Art by Chthonia (also responsible for haunting recent AKHLYS videos) – “Supplication” is crucial to the modern AKHLYS sound, its tortured dreamworld underpinning the occult Black Metal psychosis of subsequent records from the now fully-fledged band: 2015 modern classic “The Dreaming I“, 2020’s unstoppable “Melinoë” and latest oneiric masterpiece, 2024’s “House of the Black Geminus“.
“Supplication” is now available to order through DMP’s EU, US, and Bandcamp shops. Please note: the exclusive DMP edition created by Le 7e Oeil will begin shipping around November 14th, while the standard CD and vinyl editions are available immediately.
All AKHLYS albums are currently available on CD and LP formats via DMP’s webshops. For those yet to immerse themselves in these unparalleled dreamscapes of terror and transcendence, now is the time to claim the complete AKHLYS discography.
AKHLYS was formed 2009 by Naas Alcameth (NIGHTBRINGER, AORATOS, BESTIA ARCANA) as a musical expression for the inexplicable visions, journeys and phenomena that occur in liminal lands between slumber and awakening. Initially exploring these concepts via Dark Ambient in debut “Supplication” (2009) and then haunting Black Metal through lauded follow-up “The Dreaming I” (2015), Alcameth has once again reified and rarefied this vision, giving rise to a third and crowning work, “Melinoë“, which was released in December 2020.
Earning widespread acclaim for their live performances, AKHLYS secured a partnership with Parasite Gallows Booking in 2022. Amidst numerous tours and festival appearances in Europe, Israel, Latin America and the United States, the recent years have also witnessed the crafting of new compositions destined for the band’s fourth album. Titled “House of the Black Geminus,” this much-anticipated release was released July 5th, 2024.
New Miserable Experience, featuring an all-star cast with members of Rosetta, Revocation, Model Prisoner and Rivers of Nihil, return with new single – the hard-hitting ‘Payback from God’, streaming now via Pelagic Records.
True to their signature energy and rich tones, drenched in tension and melancholy, ‘Payback from God’ dives to the heart of the moment, questioning and reflective of turbulent times.
It’s the first glimpse of the band’s new album, coming 23rd January via Pelagic Records. Pre-orders will be available 19th November.
New Miserable Experience area Philadelphia-rooted collective that reshapes heavy-music rigour into expansive, melody-forward songs through alternative synth-rock. What started as a file-trading collaboration between vocalist/bassist David Grossman (ex-Rosetta) and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Mahesh Kost (Model Prisoner)expanded into a full band that now includes Rosetta drummer Bruce “B.J.” McMurtrie Jr., technical-metal bassist Brett Bamberger (Revocation), and guitarist Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil).
Each member of New Miserable Experience contributes a distinctive sonic fingerprint. The vocals act as the emotional centre, delivering lines that feel confessional and immediate; synths and guitars are constructed with shimmering arpeggios and decisive motifs; percussion and production choices blend groove and tension within electronic nuance; and bass work often functions as a countermelody, lifting refrains and anchoring transitions. Together the five players emphasise careful craft over spectacle, shaping a song that rewards patient listening.
New Miserable Experience are: Josh Kost, Brody Uttley, Brett Bamberger, David Grossman and BJ McMurtrie
