HERMAN FRANK, best known as the guitarist of bands such as ACCEPT and VICTORY, has premiered a brand new song and video clip from his upcoming, fifth solo- album, Two For A Lie, which will be out on May 21, 2021 via AFM Records.
Frank has been an integral part of the German metal scene since the early 80s. Starting with ACCEPT to VICTORY to his solo project, which was launched in 2009, the Hanoverian has proved a receipe for uncompromising heavy metal. With his highly acclaimed solo- records “Loyal To None”, “Right In The Guts”, “The Devils Ride Out” and “Fight The Fear” Frank and his comrades-in-arms are causing storms of enthusiasm in both the press and the fans. And there is no question that his new album Two For A Lie will seamlessly follow on from this. True to the motto “Never change a winning team”, Herman Frank has once again put his faith in the collaboration with MASTERPLAN frontman Rick Altzi and JADED HEART bassist Michael “Mülli” Müller, newly hired were guitarist Mike Pesin and drummer Kevin Kott on board of the battleship. Like its predecessors, Two For A Lie impresses through Frank’s characteristic guitar play, in which razor-sharp riffs meet rousing solos, Alchi’s brilliant vocals and the rhythm section grooving like clockwork provide the rest.
Following the previously- released singles, “Eye Of The Storm” and just recently, “Venom”, today the guitar icon premiered a brand new video for the blistering album opener, “Teutonic Order”! Watch the new clip right here:
“Two For A Lie” was produced by Herman Frank himself together with co-producer Arne Neurand, recorded and mixed in the venerable Horus Sound Studios in Hannover (Guano Apes, LDC, Revolverheld, Emil Bulls, Subway To Sally), and was mastered by Robin Schmidt (Placebo, Callejon, Beatsteaks & many more). Kai Swillus from “Gestaltungskommando Buntmetall”, who already worked with bands such as Saxon, Motörhead or Annihilator, created the cover design and artwork.
Album Tracklist: 01. Teutonic Order 02. Venom 03. Hate 04. Eye Of The Storm 05. Liar 06. Hail The New Kings 07. Just A Second To Lose 08. Danger 09. Stand Up And Fight 10. Open Your Mind
Two For A Lie will be out on May 21, 2021 via AFM Records and available as CD Digipak as well as highly limited and collectable LP Gatefold editions! Pre-order your copy HERE!
YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and Music Theories Recordings / Mascot Label Group have announced the release of a new studio album titled PARABELLUM on July 23th. The album will be available on CD, Red Tranparent LP and digital. Today, they present “Wolves At The Door” which can be previewed here:
The name of Yngwie Malmsteen has always stood for uncompromising excellence. In a career that now spans more than 40 years he has proven himself to be a unique artist. You can try to categorise him in any way you wish. But the manner in which this supreme Swedish craftsman has continually developed his music makes Malmsteen sublimely transcend any definition you attempt to impose.
He now has a catalogue of 21 solo studio albums, each of which has much to commend. Moreover, the guitarist played a crucial role in helping to establish Alcatrazz as a significant force in the 1980s. Malmsteen’s artistry has always clearly incorporated a healthy virtuosity, but his talent goes well beyond a comprehensive control of the guitar. The man is a fine composer and, on recent releases, has also showcased a strong vocal presence.
One aspect of his approach has always shone through, and that is an abidingly deep respect for the music he plays. Malmsteen has constantly done whatever it takes to bring out all of the color, shade and hue embedded in each one of his compositions. Merely doing a very good job isn’t an option. He wants to go – and does go – well beyond such limitations, into the rarefied realms inhabited by an elite number of timeless masters. This has never been more focused and informed than on his startling new album ‘Parabellum’. Malmsteen shares, “I always try to push myself on every album I do, and attempt things which are more extreme than previously. But what has helped this time is that I wasn’t able to go on the road because of the pandemic. It meant I could take much longer in the studio, both to write and record. Because I am usually always on tour, which is great, I haven’t had the luxury of spending a lot of time working on new music for more than 20 years. But I suddenly had no pressure at all on that front. And I feel the album has benefited enormously as a result.”
There are instances when musicians can have so much time available to them for the purposes of recording and writing that what comes out of the process is a little stilted and overthought. But that is never the case here. He reflects, “I am the sort of person who doesn’t like to do take after take after take of any track. If something isn’t to my satisfaction, I’ll move on. But there were occasions with this album when I dismissed something because I thought it was a stinker. I went back a couple of days later, listened to it and wondered why I thought it stank in the first place! That’s the beauty of having everything available you’ve done through Pro Tools. Nothing is lost. Things were changing all the time. Song titles, tempos. Everything was fluid. I would listen to a part I had done for one specific song, and realise it worked better if I transposed it into another track.”
Four of the songs here feature vocals. But once more, this wasn’t mapped out in advance. Malmsteen offers, “I love to listen back to what I’ve done in the car. Sometimes I find myself singing along to what was supposed to be an instrumental. That’s when I realise this song does need vocals. The opposite happens as well.”

On occasion, it does sound as if Malmsteen has surely incorporated keyboards into the fabric of the album’s sonic tapestry. But this is not the case. He reveals, “I can assure you that, while it may seem as if there are keyboards, everything has been done by myself on guitar. Even what sounds like a piano intro to ‘Wolves At The Door’, the opening track, has been played on guitar.” This particular composition also includes a clever reference to 19th century classical master Paganini. “It’s the sort of thing I love to do. It’s my way of paying homage to him. And here it works very well within the flow of the track.”
The album title ‘Parabellum’ is Latin, translating as ‘Prepare For War’. “There’s a track on the album called ‘(Si Vis Pacem) Parabellum’. This translates as ‘If you want peace, then prepare for war’. He offers, “It was a last minute decision to make this the album title. But I think it fits very well.”
The striking portrait on the cover was painted by the accliamed artist David Benegas. Malmsteem states, “That was my wife April’s idea. David lives near us in Florida, and we were talking to him about other projects. I did a photo shoot with Mark Weiss, who I think is a great photographer and someone I’ve worked with for a long time. Then David based the portrait on this. The painting itself is huge, and we’ve had the idea to use it to raise money for the April Way Children’s Foundation (‘dedicated to bringing the artists of the world together to give hope to kids, teens, and young adults that have been orphaned or are in foster care all across the world’).”
In closing he shares, “The bottom line for me is that the passion I feel for the music I make has to be obvious. I am the sort of person who lives in the moment. I wanted this album to have a joyous, spontaneous atmosphere. This must never sound as if it’s been rehearsed so much that it becomes routine. I hope people will put on this record at the start and listen right through to the end, from start to finish. I recorded this as a singular piece of art. Not as a collection of 10 tracks you can hear in any order you want. I was asked by Mascot what song would be the lead track. The one for which I’d do a video. You know what? I’d like to do videos for everything here. I view this album as having a natural flow from start to finish. It’s not to be cut up into little pieces. I want fans to experience the delight I had in making it.”
Today NERGARD present the second single from their highly anticipated album “Eternal White”. Currently available to pre-order and officially released on the 21st of May through Pride & Joy Music.
“Carry Me” is an epic, power ballad that showcases the dark, dramatic and melodic sound of the new album.
“Carry Me actually began taking shape a long time ago; as the chorus was written back in 2014 during the sessions for the second Nergard album ‘A Bit Closer To Heaven’.” Bandleader Andreas Nergård explains.
“I think the song reached its full potential the moment Stefani Keogh joined the band. She made this song shine the way it was meant to; with her theatrical, emotional way of singing and it really shows off her many qualities as a singer. And with regards to the video, it’s great to have a new face out there with the Nergard name. It’s not just me with some guests anymore, it’s a band, and I want the new and old fans to get to know every one of them.”
The upcoming album “Eternal White” is a concept album based on the story of The Carolean Death March of 1719 and features the well-known Tim “Ripper” Owens on guest vocals.
Stefani Keogh also shares her thoughts on the single.
“Around half way through the recording process, Andreas emailed me to say that one of the songs I would be recording would be a solo track. Not only was this incredibly exciting for me, but I felt so honoured, as a newcomer, to be trusted with an entire song! Of course there was then a little bit of fear as I thought ‘I hope I like it!!!’ Up til then, I had been blown away by everything Andreas had sent me so my hopes were high, and still somehow, this song managed to exceed all my expectations! It builds beautifully, and with so much passion that it felt effortless to record such emotional vocals. Ultimately the story we are telling with the “Eternal White” album is that of a tragedy; it’s heartbreaking and I feel “Carry Me” really portrays the sorrow and desperation of what happened. “
With the release of his sophomore solo album just days away, MYLES KENNEDY showcases the musical diversity of The Ides Of March (out May 14, 2021 via Napalm Records) with the unveiling of the pensive ballad “Love Rain Down”. The song showcases the softer side of the upcoming album.
The genesis of the track has been around for years and is reminiscent of what fans and critics were drawn to on his debut solo album Year Of The Tiger. The acoustic introduction builds until the band – drummer Zia Uddin and bassist/manager Tim Tournier – joins in on the second verse and rides out the rest of the track. Lyrically, Myles delivers a plea born out of the longing for answers and solace from all of the dark possibilities of the day as he sings “Let your love rain down. Let it wash away the sorrows I’ve found.”
While Year Of The Tiger was more of an acoustic exploration through Myles’ mind, The Ides Of March finds him strapping on his electric guitar and pushing himself as a guitarist/songwriter. The Ides Of March was produced by longtime collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette.
Prior to his latest song, Myles released album-opener “Get Along,” the title track and longest song on the album “The Ides Of March” and the hit-single “In Stride”. “Get Along” is moving up the radio airplay charts worldwide, while debut single “In Stride” had a #4 placement in German rock- and is currently in the Top 25 in US Active Rock charts, beyond others.
The Ides Of March tracklisting: 1) Get Along 2) A Thousand Words 3) In Stride 4) The Ides of March 5) Wake Me When It’s Over 6) Love Rain Down 7) Tell It Like It Is 8) Moonshot 9) Wanderlust Begins 10) Sifting Through The Fire 11) Worried Mind
MALACODA have released their new video for “The Harsh Law” track off their hit EP – Crawling Chaos via MetalUnderground. The video can be viewed here.
Malacoda adds: The Harsh Law is the last track off of Crawling Chaos. It’s got a lot of groove to it and while it doesn’t have any solos I still think it’s one of the cooler guitar based songs because of the riffs! Drums were played by Elie Bertrand who was a real pleasure to work with. I think we had found footage of her playing a Pantera cover online somewhere and were sold on trying to get her to collaborate with us.
After this, keep an eye out for another Malacoda release… this time a bit more sinister.”
With music described as “dark, foreboding and with lyrics to enjoy as well as unsettle.” (Powerplay Mag UK) being a constant in the band’s sound, the next step would be to write a follow up to Restless Dreams. While looking for a drummer, the band recorded throughout the rest of 2019/2020 with friends behind the drum kit.

In a few days the physical CD of ‘Mystai Keltoy’ of the Italian legendary Speed/thrash metallers CELTIC HILLS will be available via Elevate Records + together with the album release, the band will present the video for ‘Eden’, in which in the role of vocalist there is Germana Noage, former voice of Aetherna. In the meantime, enjoy some small anticipation, AT THIS LOCATION.
“Mystai Keltoy” is an enigmatic name that alludes to the Elusian Mysteries. The album includes 11 tracks that speak of ancient alien civilizations, European pyramids, legends and historical facts of Friuli, as you could already guess from the album cover. The album was recorded and produced at the Groove Factory in Udine by Michele Guaitoli, a prominent name for being the lead singer of Temperance, Vision of Atlantis, Era. Among the 11 songs one is sung by Germana Noage, ex singer of Aetherna and of the same Elevate Records team.
“Mystai Keltoy” Tracklist: The Light Blood is not water The tommorrow of our sons The 7 heads dragon of Osoppo Landing of the Gods Already lost Falling stars Battle of Frigidum Eden (sung by Germana Noage) Temple of love Alliteratio (sung in Italian)
Just recently CELTIC HILLS unleashed a new song ‘Alliteratio’, in case you missed it, stream it here: https://youtu.be/jAG7A4G2t-E
The formation of the power trio is Simone Cescutti on drums, Jacopo Novello on bass and Jonathan Vanderbilt on vocals and guitars. The cover is hand painted by Sheila Franco, the same girl who painted Blood Over Intents, and represents the myth of the ancient visitors. Jonathan Vanderbilt played and recorded the album with Panico Custom instruments, the Italian sponsor of custom lutherie of Luca Panico di Ravenna, a guitar specially created with the specifications requested by the Canadian guitarist.
CELTIC HILLS were born in 2010, in 2020 they sign a recording contract with Elevate Records with which they release the album “Blood over Intents” and the EP “Schrage Musik” both in 2020. In 2021 another album is out “Mystai Keltoy” produced and recorded by Michele Guaitoli singer of Temperance, Vision of Atlantis and Era. The style played is difficult to place in a single vein of metal, as there are many influences ranging from death to power, with sound elements that can also recall a certain type of 90’s thrash. The singing is quite varied, and for some listeners it may seem unusual in a metal band. power, speed and good melodic lines distinguish the band from others. Between 2010 and 2020 they released “Horns helmet fighters” and for the Slovak Music Globalliance they came out on international compilations on volumes 2,3,4.
