NUMENTO Present New True Crime Inspired Single + Music Video ‘The Extortionist’

Numento’s brand-new single, “The Extortionist” is inspired by countless true crime stories in which a person who initially appears kind and warm-hearted gradually transforms into a dangerous manipulator whose goal is to secretly extort benefits from their victim in order to boost their own reputation and self-esteem. On the surface, they appear innocent and friendly to everyone, but beneath the surface, a nightmarish plot simmers. They are a bloodthirsty predator who will stop at nothing to get what they want, and they are even willing to kill to avoid getting caught.

Numento, who has also previously incorporated the Finnish national instrument kantele into their music, introduces a new sonic element with this track: the distorted kantele, which has already amazed both audiences and sound engineers at live shows. Thanks to the distortion effect, the kantele’s already eerie sound takes on even more ominous and downright haunting tones on “The Extortionist” — ones that few have heard before.

  • Composers: Atte Asikainen, Katri Hiovain-Asikainen, Simo Mattila, Aleksi Vehmassalo, Mikko Virtanen, Jouni Aaltonen
  • Lyricists: Katri Hiovain-Asikainen, Atte Asikainen
  • Production: Christian Herrle & Atte Asikainen

“The Extortionist” once again showcases Numento’s signature style of blending influences from various metal subgenres and shifting moods as dictated by the song’s narrative, but this time with a more polished and daring approach. The song features even greater contrasts, ranging from delicate, evocative verses and a catchy, melodic chorus to a C-section that escalates into full-blown blast beats, unleashing fury with the combined power of three vocalists.

The music video for the song represents the band’s most ambitious and professionally executed production to date, created by an international team of dozens of people. The music video was filmed in Espoo at the cultural-historical setting of Finns Folk High School, and the production was overseen by producer and cinematographer Eino Antonio Leskinen, who has been involved in numerous productions. “The whole band is incredibly pleased with how director Adàn Mendoza captured the spirit of ‘The Extortionist’ and translated the song into a visual form,” commented Numento guitarist Aleksi Vehmassalo.

Katri Hiovain-Asikainen – Vocals & kantele

With unflinching tenacity, the impenetrable heavy metal hardcore factory that is HATEBREED has brought forth yet another iron cast, sonic weapon with Weight Of The False Self. It comes as no surprise that their eighth, full length album is the result of the usual sweat and blood that have cemented HATEBREED’s unique niche in the world of music for over two decades. Renowned for their ability to provide an intense and cathartic release for their fans, HATEBREED challenged their writing style through this album cycle in order to produce material that is exceptionally relatable in a contemporary world flooded with overstimulation, emotional dampening, and lack of social patience. “Weight Of The False Self’ is a perfect representation of HATEBREED in 2020, a fresh onslaught of soon to be classics with all the elements that led you here since day one,” explains guitarist Frank Novinec.

A metaphorical weight is carried by almost every individual in regards to their emotional construct. Our experiences shape who we become and over time, gradually produce a heavy burden that we continue to lug along. For many of us, the weight becomes so much that we struggle to get out from underneath, let alone move. It is these struggles that are translated throughout Weight Of The False Self.

“Seen or unseen, everyone is carrying a burden. The music we love helps us bear the weight” proclaims vocalist Jamey Jasta. Tracks like “Cling To Life” supply a play on words that usually mean to desperately cling to those last breaths, but here, these words display that in the wake of true loss and mourning, to cling to the idea of happiness and future can bring sincere relief. On the other end of the philosophical spectrum, the first single “Instinctive (Slaughterlust)” not only presents a fresh vocabulary word, but screams about the power that comes from our defense mechanisms when backed into a corner. When someone is being pursued by their past, another person, or just defending their own territory, it’s only a matter of time and distance before they can explode into a savage, primal beast.

The song “Wings Of The Vulture” is a metaphor for all the negative forces of nature, fate, and humanity that hope to prey upon us during some of our weakest moments; waiting for the death of something meaningful. “A Stroke Of Red,” contrary to what it may seem at first, touches on the concept of having the choice to harm yourself or others. “It’s an eye for an eye, but that leaves everyone blind. Once you go down that dark, violent path, there is no turning back. This song is a dark canvas; leaving my body to exact terrible things on a different plane, and coming back to myself in order to learn from it so that you don’t ever give in to that dark, carnal desire,” explains Jasta.

Album artwork by renowned heavy metal artist Eliran Kantor depicts a man chiseling away at the massive sculpture of a stone bust. In Kantor’s classic painting style, cracking through the clay of turmoil and sadness, a light is beginning to shine through the rock as the sculptor turns his face from the blinding beams of healing. The image visually combines the album’s themes of emotional struggle and managing to overcome pain after layers of depression, anxiety, betrayal, and heartbreak have hardened atop a person’s soul.

Over the course of over 20 years and 8 albums, the writing process for a band like HATEBREED has stayed safe in its roots, but still reached out and grabbed for crisp and compelling pieces of progressive sound to add to the mix. There are waves of fresh sounds while the massive foundation that houses HATEBREED remains strongly held in place. “On this album I really pushed myself; made myself rewrite things until they were better, until it clicked. I pulled myself out of that comfort zone. In the age of legacy bands having to play so many hits from their catalogue at shows, we love to hear fans request new songs when we’re playing live,” explains Jasta, “we’ve really played into our strengths with this one.”

“There’s no shortage of beefy-riffs and adrenaline-fueled-drums on this record. I’m proud to say that we will consistently provide a soundtrack to which you can mosh in your living room and destroy your apartment,” details drummer Matt Byrne.

Recording the album once more with the help of ZEUSS, the band experienced a sense of challenge and breakthrough that enabled them to obtain a new level of sound. After working with the band for several years, and while normally spending his time with bands that have a fairly different sound, Zeuss is able to test HATEBREED and expand their already infamous vibration. “It was really great working with Zeuss again on this one. Love the way the guitars sound,” comments guitarist Wayne Lozinak. As time goes on, the quality of production technology only seems to get better and better, creating a safe and productive nest in which albums can evolve and end up with a much cleaner sound; Weight Of The False Self brings early 2000’s era HATEBREED into the new decade.

Released on November 27th, 2020 via Nuclear Blast Records, Weight Of The False Self is noted as one of HATEBREED’s strongest, and most memorable albums.

Jamey Jasta – vocals (1994-present)

MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY to Release New Album “Washington State Charm” on June 26th

Originally founded as a solo project by singer Georg Wilfinger (ex-Miasma) in 2010 in Austria, MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY has released three studio albums, an EP, and a demo up to now. Their previous full-length album, ‘Vile Postmortem Irrumatio‘ was released in August 2024 and drew roaring reviews worldwide.

These relentless purveyors of auditory violence and “Mindhunters” of brutal Death Metal, have crawled back out of the basement with a brand-new full-length slab of extremity entitled ‘Washington State Charm.’

The new opus is a wholesome little concept album chronicling the coming-of-age story of a serial killer: the awkward upbringing, the early extracurricular activities, and the grand finale on the electric chair of America’s probably most prolific serial killer, Ted Bundy.

Georg Wilfinger comments:

“While we’ve stayed 100% true to ourselves musically, which means constantly reinventing ourselves, we’re pretty damn sure you’re going to love this new album. We obsessed over every microscopic detail, whether it’s a hidden arpeggio, a lyrical pun, or just another described act of unspeakable horror, and maybe some truths about Ted you might not even have known yet. This isn’t just another death metal record you half-listen to while bench-pressing. It’s an experience. A deep look into a very, very sick human being’s brain.“

MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY‘s new guest-filled album ‘Washington State Charm‘ is scheduled for a June 26, 2026 release date on Listenable Records.

OUTSHINE Share Elixir of Truth with World in New ‘Enough’ Music Video & Single

Gothenburg dark alternative metal outfit OUTSHINE has returned with a haunting music video for their new single, “Enough“. Directed by Kenny Boufadene (known for his work with Manimal and Ice Age), the video serves as the opening chapter of an ambitious four-part cinematic series evolving across three subsequent videos, culminating in a final chapter shortly after the release of their upcoming album, Truthsayer, which will be released on June 26, 2026 via rock and metal record label Eclipse Records.

In the dark alternative metal music video, vocalist Jimmy Boman reprises his role as the enigmatic Reverend Boman, a character central to the band’s lore. In this installment, the Reverend gathers a diverse group, including a banker, a baron, and a laborer, to partake in an “awakening elixir” designed to shatter social divisions. The concept utilizes occult imagery to mirror the song’s lyrical confrontation of a fractured society. Boman describes the track as a rallying cry against the elite forces that manipulate the “common man” into manufactured conflict. Musically, “Enough” delivers the signature Outshine sound: melancholy shadows woven through haunting keys and rhythmic guitar work.

“Enough is a song about the broken society we now live in” explains vocalist Jimmy Boman. “We are pushed to pick sides, and we are brainwashed to take a stand without thinking about what is actually true or not. People are inserted by fear and because of this friends and family end up in made-up arguments, it’s all very soul-breaking. But we need to say enough and wake up to see that we are being used as pawns be the elites and that we should not be enemies with each other.”

The brilliant new dark alternative metal album from Outshine titled Truthsayer has something for every rock and metal fan, including rich guitar work, haunting keys, a powerful back beat, and mesmerizing vocals. Musically, the feel is wonderfully diverse, with parts and parcels working together to craft a vision both dark and distinct, yet hopeful. The keys are eerie and foreboding, leading us down shadowed corridors with hypnotic vocal harmonies that often split into octaves, as if to show contrasting views of the world existing atop each other like fog on cobblestone and the sun on the sea. Lyrically, the band blasts the elite, biased media and totalitarianism, depicting a world distorted with poison as common people are kept in a metaphorical asylum of sorts, locked in their rooms, screaming silently from behind sound-proofed glass. It puts us slightly off balance, as these messages of doom are superimposed on music with such a chunk and satisfying groove vibe. In the end, the band tells us that shadows recede. Hell turns to hope. Night ends with dawn, and the ashes of a scorched earth can produce an awesome rising phoenix. This band is for real, and Truthsayer is nothing less than a magnificent megaphone. Altogether, the album contains nine tracks, including standouts like “Enough” “You Are Not Alone,” and “Emptiness Inside.” The album artwork, created by Jimmy Boman, mirrors the album’s dark, yet hopeful mood. The album is set for release on June 26, 2026 via Eclipse Records.

Melodic Metal Pioneers NARNIA Announce New Album “X”, Out May 29th

Swedish metallers NARNIA are proud to announce their tenth studio album, ‘X,’ set for release on May 29th via Sound Pollution, marking the band’s 30th anniversary and nearly three decades of unwavering presence on the international metal scene.

While their previous release ‘Ghost Town’ (2023) reaffirmed the band’s melodic metal foundation, ‘X’ expands NARNIA’s sonic landscape. The album moves confidently between soaring, arena-ready choruses and more adventurous, progressive passages, without ever losing the band’s unmistakable identity.

Songs like “Oceanwide,” “Every Breath,” and “Heaven’s Calling” showcase NARNIA’s gift for strong hooks and uplifting melodies. At the other end of the spectrum, the high-energy “Remedy (SOS)” pushes the tempo to new heights, while tracks such as “God Under Fire” and “Jerusalem” explore more intricate arrangements and progressive textures.

Multiple lead vocalists share the spotlight throughout the album. Guitarist CJ Grimmark and bassist Jonatan “Jono” Samuelsson step forward on selected tracks, adding new tonal colors, while Christian Liljegren’s unmistakable voice continues to anchor the sound.

The album also reconnects with the band’s legacy. “The Man from Nazareth Pt. II” serves as a continuation of a fan-favorite from the 2006 album ‘Enter the Gate,’ while “The War that Tore the Land (Reprise)” offers a reflective callback to 2019’s ‘From Darkness to Light.’

Guitarist CJ Grimmark comments:

“This album represents both where we come from and where we’re heading. It’s heavier, broader, and more dynamic, but still unmistakably NARNIA.”

Pre-order the album: https://orcd.co/n015

‘X’ Track List:

  1. Like A Thief In The Night
  2. Oceanwide
  3. Heavens Calling
  4. Walk On Water
  5. God Under Fire
  6. Remedy (Sos)
  7. Jerusalem
  8. Every Breath
  9. The War That Tore The Land (Reprise)
  10. The Man From Nazareth Pt. II

‘X’ stands as both a celebration of NARNIA’s legacy and a bold statement of where the band stands today—musically sharper, more diverse, and more confident than ever.

The first single, “Oceanwide,” will be released on April 4th, 2026.

The album is produced and mixed by CJ Grimmark and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson at Studio Bohus. It will be available on all digital platforms, CD, and vinyl on May 29, 2026 via Sound Pollution Distribution.

Heavy-hitting metal act 40 Cycle Hum released their new single, “Remember The Days,” via TLG | ZOID and distributed by Virgin Music Group.

Anchored by vocalist Brandon Mitchell, guitarist Mark Zavon (Kill Devil Hill), bassist Matt Snell (Five Finger Death Punch), and drummer Francis Ruiz (Buckcherry), the band’s lineup delivers a focused, powerful sound built for today’s rock audience.

“‘Remember the Days’ turns back the clock to a simpler time. It hits the rewind button and shines a light on all the good times from back in the day,” says the band.

Denny Sanders of TLG|ZOID shares, “I like to think working with 40 Cycle Hum is fulfilling a destiny. I was introduced to lead vocalist Brandon by our mutual friend Sen Dog at Cypress Hill’s show with The Nashville Symphony. When Brandon gave me his cell number, I already had it in my phone yet neither one of us remembered meeting back in the day. Fast forward a couple months, Brandon sent me the record we had talked about that night at the show, and I was blown away at how good it was. Now here we are ready to rock the world.”

Peter Tsiolis of TLG|ZOID adds, “When Denny sent over the music, I had no idea who it was I was listening to, but the minute the riff for ‘Remember The Days’ kicked in I was hooked.  The song brings you back to the late 1990s early 2000s.  It’s fresh and full of energy.   40 Cycle Hum brings the attitude and the music that brings you back to when music was fun.”

“Remember The Days” is now available on all major streaming platforms. For more information on 40 Cycle Hum, including upcoming releases and tour dates, visit their official website and follow them on social media.
