Melodic Death Metal Artist PLAGUESTORM Unleashes Album Details And New Song

Argentinian Melodic Death Metal artist PLAGUESTORM has announced the release of his highly anticipated, brand new full length album. “Purifying Fire” will be out on June 4th via Noble Demon!

Founded by Sebastián Pastor in early 2014, PLAGUESTORM delivers a wide range of furious and raging Melodic Death Metal. Sweeping melodies, heavy, dark and melancholic arrangements, mixing the old and new Scandinavian sound of Death Metal, as if it were based on a Swedish manufacturing standard. With 9 brand new tracks full of anger and rage, desolation and sadness, “Purifying Fire” is in fact Pastor’s most mature release to date.

“The new album is a very varied one compared to ‘Mother of Plagues’. I have added some elements or compositions that I had not used before and you may notice a sadder atmosphere in some songs“ Sebastián Pastor says and continues: “I suppose that my mood and some situations that I had to go through last year influenced my way of composing and writing.”

But not only musically, also thematically, Pastor offers a work full of depth. Just like the stunning artwork (by Artmorfate), several songs on the album share a conceptual connection about how the evolution of humanity negatively interferes with nature, as he explains:

“We have all witnessed how hundreds of forests and jungles in many parts of the world have been devastated by fire. These fires are intentionally started, for commercial gain, whether for real estate, to install nuclear plants, for mining, for the sowing of soybeans or for the installation of hydroelectric plants. I think some people are unaware that all the damage they are causing will soon affect themselves. But nature always prevails.”

Tracklist:

01. Evolution Towards the Edge
02. Back to Zero
03. Purifying Fire
04. Never Learn
05. You Against the World
06. Close to Nowhere
07. No Farewell
08. Blind and Weak
09. Burning Paradise

As on his previous releases, Sebastián Pastor was in charge of composing and writing all the lyrics and music (as well as recording the acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drum prog, and keyboards / synthesizers / strings), while the vocals do come from Mikael Sehlin (Engel). For the guitar solos PLAGUESTORM got the support of Diego Martinez, as well as Pablo Roman, and a wonderful orchestral arrangement for the song “Purifying Fire” was made by Sebastián Nuñez Szymanski.

THE MIGHTY ONE Unleash Striking Animated Video for “Torch Of Rock And Roll”

The Mighty One, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Canadian hard rock force THE MIGHTY ONE have released their critically acclaimed album Torch Of Rock And Roll – and now that the torch is lit, the band around mastermind Tim Steinruck will of course continue to spread the light of the rock and roll fire.

The album’s title track tells the real life story of a boy who happened to fall in love with KISS, the dreams he had and the will to make them come true to a point of eventually signing a management/record deal with his idol Paul Stanley. It’s also a story about the moment when a fiery heart realizes that all the ill-fated things its owner has gone through have just been a matter of synchronicity rather than fate. A truly recognitial moment and the spark that lit his lifelong fire of purpose.

Torch Of Rock And Roll tells a very special, heartwarming and yet rocking story, a story that deserves an appropriate visualisation. That’s why the track is now released as a single – alongside a remarkable video. The anime-inspired animations in the elaborately produced clip are a rare and especially brightening sight within the hard rock genre. Check it out right here:

THE TORCH OF ROCK AND ROLL
When I was just 13
When rock and roll was king
That’s when I joined
The Kiss Army
Destroyer in my hand
The cover dark and glam
It a lit a flame inside of me
I wanna feel the lights
I wanna feel the flames
Oh yeah, burning burning oh
The Torch of Rock and Roll
Hold it high, heal your soul
I turned 24
Paul Stanley at my door
Record deal and dreams come true
But then the end did come
And Grunge was number one

The flame went dim
But stayed alive
And now I see the light
And now I feel the flames
Oh yeah, burning burning oh

CHORUS:
The Torch of Rock and Roll
Hold it high, heal your soul
Let the fire take control
The Torch of Rock and Roll
I’ll never stop until I die
(Keep it burning)
Don’t even ask the reasons why
(Keep it burning)
This fire deep inside
It’s what keeps me alive
I raise my torch up to the sky

Canadian MALACODA Release Bass Playthrough For “Deadlights”

Gothic Metallers MALACODA released their new EP Crawling Chaos on April 2nd, independently. Today the band has unleashed a bass playthrough for “Deadlights” performed by bassist Zak Stulla. The track is taken from the band’s new EP. Watch below.

Zak comments: “Filming this play through was a lot of fun as this song is one that I can’t wait to play live. The fast rhythms really drive the intensity of the song.“

Malacoda adds – “The song is based on the movie, It’s one of the better horror movie remakes that’s come out recently. We really tried to capture the emotion from the film with this one.” – Lucas Di Mascio

The first single “Crawling Chaos” was unleashed on all streaming services on February 5th. ‘Crawling Chaos’ is the band’s first new release since 2018’s ‘Restless Dreams’ and is a return to the band’s more cinematic and gothic roots as heard on Ritualis Aeterna (2016) as well as a deeper exploration of melodic vocal hooks as heard on their self-titled debut (2014). In the summer of 2019 the band formed a new live lineup and embarked on a small tour around Ontario, including a final show at Toronto’s legendary Rockpile venue before heading into the studio.

With music described as “dark, foreboding and with lyrics to enjoy as well as unsettle.” (Powerplay Mag UK) being a constant in the band’s sound, the next step would be to write a follow up to Restless Dreams. While looking for a drummer, the band recorded throughout the rest of 2019/2020 with friends behind the drum kit.

“Master! Master! New live music video out now! This one was made in collaboration with a Finnish tractor manufacturer Valtra. Who else but Hiltunen would have jumped behind the wheel of Valtra’s very first farm machine made in the 50’s?”

“ARTILLERY’s New Album X Honours The Legacy Of Founding Member By Using Old Demo Ideas”, Says Singer Michael Bastholm Dahl

Jimmy Kay and Former Anthrax Singer Neil Turbin spoke with Singer of ARTILLERY Michael Bastholm Dahl. They talked about the new Album X as well as Turbin and Artillery’s touring history. X will be released May 7 via Metal Blade Records.

Tell us about the making of the album
“When we finished off the Face of Fear album (last one) we knew that Morton’s health was not that good but we went out and played like we always did. When we started with the recording of X and the writing process we were looking for something to justify to do this album. One of the reasons we decided to go on that was Morton’s wish, he wanted us to go on. Then all of sudden all these old demos from Morton started to appear. Peter the bassist had a lot of demo tapes lying around back from the days of ‘By Inheritance’ Album from Morton. Morton also had demos from the ‘Face of Fear’ album that didn’t make it onto the album. So we took quite a bit of material that Morton had prepared and put into the album, so that was nice cause it felt like he was there. The whole Recording process and writing of the New Album X was a bit Like therapy, the mourning of Morton and honouring his legacy. I know he was present in everyone’s mind. On the album we tried to think of what Morton thought so he was much present in spirit

Tell us about the musical direction of the new album

“In general we don’t over think it that much we are just trying to do what we feel what is natural for us and what we would like to hear. I know a lot of people think they want Artillery to sound like they did on the first two albums. But things today are flowing quite naturally. We wanted this new album to feel like things were moving forward and trying new terrain and still honour the old elements of the band as well. One part melodic but of course the heavier thrashier stuff. But we have been doing ballads as long as I have been in the band and I enjoy writing songs like that where you can have more contrasts in the songs.”

Co-founding member Morten Stützer passed in 2019. Having played a big part in shaping Artillery’s songs and appearing on every album up to 2018’s riveting The Face Of Fear.

Tracklisting:
1 The Devil’s Symphony
2 In Thrash we Trust
3 Turn up The Rage
4 Silver Cross
5 In Your Mind
6 The Ghost of Me
7 Force of Indifference
8 Varg i Veum
9 Mors Ontologica
10 Eternal Night
11 Beggars In Black Suits

DEAD END FINLAND Release New Single ‘Beyond The Distance’ From Upcoming EP

Finnish melodic metallers DEAD END FINLAND have released a new single Beyond The Distance. The track is released again in collaboration with Inverse Records and it is included on an upcoming EP which is released in late 2021.

Guitarist & Bass player Santtu Rosén comment:
” “Beyond The Distance” is the second single from our upcoming release. It will be released in the spring ravaged by the corona on April 15, 2021. Where our previous album dealt more objectively with the state of the whole nation and the prevailing world situation, the theme of our new album is clearly more personal. The song to be published tells the story of how one is forced to first touch the bottom to be able to strive towards the surface. A kind of power song, if you will.”
