Forget apologies. Forget remorse. Yesterday, March 5, 2026, Ian Voltage released their new single Prodigal Son — and it doesn’t politely knock. It kicks the door down and walks straight in.
The track starts with a sexy, seductive guitar riff dripping with 80s hard rock attitude. This isn’t polished rock — it’s a tight, sweat-soaked and leather-scented four-minute blast that leaves a grin on your face and an irresistible urge to grab one more beer. If this banger doesn’t make your hips move, blame your hips, not the song!
At the heart of the story is a prodigal son making a swaggering return home. He doesn’t bow. He doesn’t beg. He throws himself into the chaos of the night, causing havoc and enjoying every second of it. Instead of regretting, there’s another round waiting — no plotting, no explanations, just living in the moment at full throttle. He’s a king for a day, a knight of the night and a problem child who always needs more and more.
Prodigal Son isn’t just a single. It’s a soundtrack for those who refuse to apologize for the way they live — and who dare to live exactly how they want.
March 5, 2026 is the day the prodigal son comes home to reclaim his crown — and you’d better be there for the coronation!

Formed in Helsinki in 2019, Ian Voltage draws its musical firepower from the giants of the 1980s and 1990s. Echoes of Guns N’ Roses’ razor-sharp hard rock swagger and Alice In Chains’ dark-toned melancholy can be heard in their sound. The result is melodic, strongly vocal-driven hard rock that refuses to bow too deeply to genre conventions — sounding, above all, like itself.
“We don’t want to be boxed in too tightly. We do what feels right — but quality always comes first,” says vocalist Derek Kinnunen, summing up the band’s philosophy.
In summer 2025, the bassist Lasse Heliste stepped back from active music duties due to changes in his personal life. Ian Voltage warmly thanks Lasse for the journey shared so far and is currently searching for a new bassist — ideally one capable of contributing backing vocals. The band encourages anyone who’s into serious bass playing to step forward!
Ian Voltage is:
Derek Kinnunen – vocals
