AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, BILLY JOEL, STING, CHRISTINA AGUILERA and JIMMY FALLON were among the performers who will take part in NBC’s concert last night (November 2nd) to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy. Money collected will go to American Red Cross relief efforts.
On November 6th, AEROSMITH will release Music From Another Dimension! on Columbia Records. It marks the band’s 15th studio album and their first studio album of all-new material in 11 years.
RollingStone.com are premiering the album, one track at a time, in the weeks leading up to the release. ‘Out Go The Lights’ is a hard-rocking, lip-smacking blues, set to a cowbell beat as an anxious Steven Tyler vamps about, “Living on coochie and romance/ Waiting for Cupid to call.” Female backing vocals take on a taunting, torrid flavor, as Joe Perry ignites a red-hot guitar solo that doesn’t quit for the song’s nearly seven minutes.
The track’s working title was ‘The Guilty Kilt’: “There’s a joke about the guy who gets a hard-on with a kilt on,” explains bassist Tom Hamilton, “so it’s a guilty kilt.” It’s a riff idea that dates back to sessions for 1989’s Pump, which popped up spontaneously between songs on tour over the years, with Tyler sometimes scatting on-the-spot vocals.
“I remember jamming that live during the show,” says Perry. “There was something about that tempo – it’s got that funk that we do. It just wouldn’t leave us alone.”

Music From Another Dimension! was recorded in Los Angeles and at the band’s studio in Massachusetts; it was produced by Jack Douglas, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, with the exception of three tracks produced by Tyler and Marti Frederiksen.
“It’s not that it took ten years,” Steven Tyler says, “but that we were busy getting ready!”
“This is the album we wanted to make since the band got back together in 1984,” Joe Perry says. “Can’t complain about number one singles or album-driven sold-out world tours, as we blaze the Aerosmith trail with our fans. But this is the record that when the five of us are in a room yelling turn up the volume, that room could be 1325 Commonwealth Avenue (a reference to the band’s first apartment where they lived and wrote their first song).”
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry talked about Music From Another Dimension! on October 20th edition of The Jonathan Ross Show. Check out the chat below:

KISS frontman Paul Stanley (pictured below) says Steven Tyler is “full of himself” and “needs a reality check” after the AEROSMITH singer called his former tourmates a “comic-book rock band.”
In an interview last week with a Tampa radio station, Tyler stated about contemporaries KISS, “They’ve got a couple of hits, but they’re more, they’re comic book — you see them in their spackled faces.” He added, “It is different: a KISS lick, a Joe Perry lick — two different worlds, and sometimes depending on the time of day get offended. I hear that and I go, ‘Yeah, that’s alright. Do they really mean it? And what’s this all about?’ And that’s why I think AEROSMITH has been around forever, we really do take ourselves seriously.” Tyler revealed that he “hated” KISS ever since one of their crew members got into a knife fight with an AEROSMITH roadie back in 1976, but added, “Since then I’ve gotten to know Gene [Simmons] and Paul, and they’re beautiful people.”
During KISS‘ appearance on tonight’s (Monday, October 15) edition of the nationally sindicated radio show “Rockline”, host Bob Coburn asked Paul Stanley if he had a response to Tyler‘s comments. “Maybe Steven‘s feeling a bit full of himself because he has an album coming out,” Stanley said.
Stanley recalled KISS‘ 2003 co-headlining tour with AEROSMITH, telling Coburn, “Steven insisted that they close the show. I really [didn’t] care because one way or the other you have to come up onstage. He had a chip on his shoulder back then. [He] was a looking down his nose a bit at KISS. Seeing him come onstage to an underwhelmed audience and [seeing] people walking out [made me smile].”
He added, “When [the new AEROSMITH] album comes out, let’s put [it side by side with ours and] let the music do the talking.”
Stanley concluded: “Steven may have been overenthused and needs a reality check.”
According to the Associated Press, AEROSMITH‘s Steven Tyler, FOREIGNER‘s Lou Gramm and Mick Jones, THE KINKS‘ Ray Davies, FLEETWOOD MAC‘s Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA‘s Jeff Lynne and ELVIS COSTELLO are among the nominees for the 2013 Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Songwriters Hall gave The Associated Press a list of nominees in advance of the official announcement, set for October 16. The gala takes place June 13 at the New York Marriott Marquis.
“It means a lot that those songs have been recognized, and maybe, hopefully a little part of history,” Jones said of the band’s hits, which include ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and ‘Waiting For A Girl Like You’.
Eligible voters can select two nominees from the list of songwriter-performers and three non-performing songwriters. Voting ends December 17.
AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry spoke to FoxNews.com about his recent appearance on Discovery channel’s “Sons Of Guns” program, a reality television series that centers on Red Jacket Firearms LLC, a Louisiana-based business that manufactures and sells custom weapons.
“I have always been fascinated with guns,” he said. “I grew up in America, so granted, it is part of our heritage and it is written into the laws of how this country is run. I’ve been fascinated with all kinds of weapons my whole life, and as I have been able to afford to acquire pieces, here and there I started to collect.”
“I was very fascinated by the time when firearms went from being fire sticks to being something people could use to hunt and to survive,” he explained. “That era, that ‘black powder’ era of firearms, has been my area of interest, and it turns out that Will from the show used to do the Calvary thing, so he is a ‘black powder’ aficionado.”
Perry — who recently referred to himself as a “definite old-school Republican” — also revealed that he would like to see some “continuity” in terms of gun laws from state to state.
“It seems ridiculous that you can be in one state with your driver’s license and buy a firearm, and then in the next state it is totally illegal,” he told FoxNews.com. “There are real problems to that, but as soon as you bring up the subject and say ‘gun control’ it sets a red flag. It is definitely a difficult issue, and the bottom line is the Constitution is what it is, and I stand by everything that is in it. Right now, some of the statistics show that some of the safest places in the country are places where law-abiding citizens are allowed to have firearms, and the crime rates are low.”
