HERETIC’S DREAM is a female fronted five piece Rock band that can’t easily be labelled as playing anyone type of Rock music! Their music is Hard Rock, Alternative, Progressive and Metal, combining unusual and complex rhythms with a fierce energy, making their music unique! Check out their latest video for the song ‘Secret Place’, taken from the fortcoming album ‘Floating State Of Mind’ here:
Finnish metal giants AMORPHIS have announced via their official Facebook page that bass player Niclas Etelävuori has decided to leave the band, due to management issues. The full statements from Niclas and AMORPHIS can be read below:
“Dear all,
We just arrived back home from almost an 8 week North American tour that was a great success in many ways.
A humble thank you to all who came to the shows and meet & greets to tell us that we were truly missed last 8 years. Next tour will take place much sooner, that’s for sure.
There are a lot of things happening right now in Amorphis camp but the saddest part is that our dear brother Niclas Etelävuori has decided to part ways with Amorphis. His decision has nothing to do with the band, no bad blood, no hard feelings between us so it is better that you read his statement and thoughts below. It’s really hard to describe the feelings everyone is going through right now, especially when we have worked as a family with him for so many years. People should understand that Amorphis has always been a democratic band and it’s pretty obvious that not all choices can please everyone. Some people don’t get along with each other, that’s life. The focus and all decisions have still aimed for the greater good and only what is best for AMORPHIS. We will continue with our current management as we feel that there is no distrust between us whatsoever.
Even in these circumstances the show must go on, so we are happy to announce that our old friend and original Amorphis bass player Olli-Pekka (Oppu) Laine is going to play the forthcoming shows and festivals with us. It’s been a long time since we played together but it sure is going to be nostalgic and great fun. Rest of the year continues busy as we are now heading to Russia after couple of weeks and from there to Radio Rock (FIN) cruise before the festival season starts. Under The Red Cloud tour will end in September and after that we start to work on a new album. We’ll keep you informed about that later on.
Most of all, we want to wish Niclas nothing but the best in the future and he will always remain as a close brother to us.
Shine on!

Statement from Niclas:
“Hello everyone,
I’ve been avoiding hanging on Facebook since it was invented but now I feel it’s probably the only way to get my message out as intended so I have to start now.
I’m very very sad to inform you that after 17 years I’ve decided to leave my duties as bass player of Amorphis. This is probably the hardest decision I ever made in my life. I still love the music and the guys and the crew are still my brothers and I wish them all all the best in the future. There’s absolutely no bad blood between us.
The reason for my departure is 100% due to the (mis)management of the band. It probably sounds crazy to most of you, but that’s how it is (music business can sometimes be very complicated). I got the guy his job back in the day and now I only heard lies and bullshit for the last many years, I just had enough so I gotta go I can’t work or live like that. It is pretty obvious to me that the manager only works for his own best interest not for the bands best interest, and that’s not how it should be. Strange enough for me ”most” of the band still wants to continue on this path so I better find another one. We all gotta do what we believe in and I don’t believe in our manager anymore. I have left the door open if the band would decide to change things. Staying true to yourself is most important in life and that’s what I’m trying to do, you only live once and life is too short for bullshit. I could probably write a book about it but I’ll save that for later now I’m too tired and I have to look for a new job.
I’d like to thank all the fans, companies, people I’ve met and worked with all over the world over the years it’s been a blast. I hope we meet again some sunny day.
Regards, Niclas
p.s. Bands never let your booking agent be your manager!!! (just a little advice, that we didn’t take)”
VOLBEAT has announced the support artists, hand selected by the band, as special guests on their European tour, planned for late-summer to early-fall. Finnish masters of melancholic progressive metal, AMORPHIS, have been chosen as special guest on the entire tour as opener.
The VOLBEAT guys are good friends of us and we’ve been talking for years, how nice it would be to tour together”, says Esa Holopainen. “Mike is also huge fan of our »Tales From The Thousand Lakes« era, so he is always keen to hear stories from those ”good old” times. It’s been great to watch their huge success and how the band has taken giant leaps from level to another. Last October they played in Helsinki at Hartwall Arena and Mike asked me to do a guest appearance to one of their songs. He sent me their set list a day before, so it was a really a quick rehearsing that turned out for a great moment to share the stage with the guys. Again then we talked about touring plans and now it really escalated for real. VOLBEAT and their crew are absolutely killer people, so I’m sure it will be great fun with great bands. Pretty massive I would say.”

Finnish masters of melancholic progressive metal, AMORPHIS, recently played special shows (“An Evening With Friends” @ Juhlaviikot – Huvila) in Helsinki, where they have performed a very special setlist with guest musicians and friends. These shows will be part of the new tour edition which is scheduled to be released on Februar 24th via Nuclear Blast. The package includes the entire album “Under The Red Cloud” with two bonus songs as well as the live tracks in Helsinki.
Today, the band unveils the first video to one of these live tracks. The video shows the song ‘Her Alone’ feat. Anneke van Giersbergen, which is the last song of the bonus CD. You can watch the clip, here:
Anneke Van Giersbergen states: “I was honored and stoked that AMORPHIS asked me to perform with them at this special event. I have been listening to their latest album »Under The Red Cloud« non stop since it came out so you can imagine I said yes to the occasion wholeheartedly! Tomi is such an awesome singer and performer and I felt right at home singing with him. He and the band gave me full creative freedom to make their songs my own and do them justice with my vocal contribution.”
“‘Evening with friends’ was a very unique show that left warm feelings to all us who experienced it from and off the stage”, continues Esa. “We really wanted to have artists performing who’s music and talent touches us. So when Anneke was in Finland playing her previous acoustic show couple months earlier we asked from her if she’s interested to perform with us. At the end of the day it was a bit versus vice, I played couple songs with her at acoustic show in Helsinki that took place same weekend with AMORPHIS event. When you hear her voice you recognize immediately that it’s Anneke. There are not many such talented singers around so we were really privileged to have her on board. ‘Her Alone’ is a track from the »Silent Waters« album that is very dramatic and big song. When Tomi and Anneke shares the vocals it really made the song to another level.”
Tuska 2017 organizers have announced new bands to its 20th Anniversary Bash program, set to take place on June 30th – July 2nd in Helsinki:
From the deep south, BARONESS are touring on their absolutely brilliant ”Purple”-record and we’re super-stoked to have them back at Tuska. AMORPHIS are among the most popular Finnish metal acts and a long history with Tuska, it’s only natural for them to play the anniversary year. Another domestic band with whom Tuska go way back, are SONATA ARCTICA. Welcome to the bill, boys. Furthermore, the Finnish thrash mainstay MOKOMA as well as INSOMNIUM, who just recently released their epic ”Winter’s Gate” album, have also been added to the line up.
Also the third indoor stage program is unleashed, announcing the well-known HM-2 worshippers, TRAP THEM are functioning within the realms of punk, hard core and twisted metal riffage. We’re proud to have them at Tuska for the first time. KOHTI TUHOA debut album ”Rutiinin Orja” is one of the undeniable highlights of hardcore punk over the past few years. Guitars are screeching like it’s the eighties all over again. Lead by the enigmatic MC Respektor, local Helsinki hardcore outfit RATFACE focuses on finer things in life. Like getting wasted and playing loud hardcore. Local black metal stalwarts BAPTISM will also be taking part in next summer’s unholy festivities.
Confirmed acts for Tuska 2017, so far:
Friday 30.6.
Suicidal Tendencies, Mayhem, Wintersun, Insomnium, Brujeria, Anneke Van Giersbegen’s Vuur, Barathrum, Baptism, Trap Them, Kohti Tuhoa, Ratface
Saturday 1.7.
HIM, Amorphis, Mokoma, Electric Wizard, Avatarium
Sunday 2.7.
Apocalyptica plays Metallica by four cellos, Sonata Arctica, Dirkschneider, Baroness, Battle Beast, Oranssi Pazuzu
More bands to be announced soon.
Tuska tickets are sold by Tiketti, Ticketmaster, Lippu.fi and Festicket.

“We were honoured to take part in the Helsinki Festival in Huvila, so therefore we wanted to do something special for that particular night,” states guitarist Tomi Koivusaari. “The gig itself happened in a large tent in the very center of Helsinki on a late summer evening. The Huvila-tent has quite long history, so there was already some excitement in the air beforehand. We wanted to invite some guests to be featured on that show – musicians we already had worked with during these years and musicians we have a huge respect for, so Sakari Kukko, Pekko Käppi and Anneke van Giersbergen joined us on that evening with friends. Originally, Aleah Starbridge was supposed to join as well, as she sang on the »Under The Red Cloud«-album, but sadly she passed away before that. It was surely a night to remember!”
