It’s been a long few weeks for YouTube drum sensation Avery Molek; in between laying down some seriously sweet covers of our favorite rock classics, he found himself in a basketball game and unfortunately broke his left arm! Never fear, though: not only is Avery back in action, but he’s literally doing it with one hand, making him not just insanely talented but incredibly admirable, reports societyofrock.com. It’s not surprising, then, that for this week’s drum cover Avery decided to pay tribute to Brit rockers DEF LEPPARD– whose drummer Rick Allen famously lost his left arm in a car crash in 1984 – with a cover of ‘Animal’ that while seemingly simple no doubt shows off the tremendous skill and passion that Avery possesses. Check it out below:
Avery has always been great about showing his idols love, but it’s this quote taken from his YouTube page that drives home both his dedication as a drummer and his respect for those who paved the way, especially Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen:
“I got to meet Rick Allen at a KISS concert sound check. He’s a nice guy and a great drummer. Now that I tried playing one of his songs with my arm in a cast, I REALLY appreciate just how awesome Rick’s playing is. This was NOT easy! Much respect Rick Allen!”
Humble, driven, and incredibly talented are the only words we can think of to describe him. This cover absolutely rocks, but we can’t wait to see Avery heal up and go right back to jamming with both arms. Get well soon, Avery!

FOO FIGHTERS mainman Dave Grohl has had his drum-off with Animal from the Muppets, as reported by classicrock.com. Check it out below:
The showdown was announced last month and was aired on ABC TV last night, with the pair going all-out in an effort to best the other – although both concede defeat after trashing their kits after a frantic battle.
Grohl previously appeared in 2011 movie The Muppets as a character called Animool in spoof band The Moopets, fronted by Fozzie Bear. The former Nirvana drummer was only seen for around five seconds, dressed in his own version of Animal‘s jumpsuit, collar and chain.
In 1981, Animal battled Buddy Rich in a drum-off on the long-running puppet franchise.
London/Berlin based rock band LIVINGSTON have signed a European record deal with SPV and will release their new album “Animal” in Fall 2014. The first single “Human” is scheduled for May 30th in Germany/Austria/Switzerland and June 2nd in UK & Rest Of Europe. Livingston recently completed work on their new music video for the teaser track which can be viewed here:
LIVINGSTON were founded in London, but relocated to Berlin in 2008. Their debut album “Sign Language” charted Top 20 in the German sales charts, their tours sold out, and their hit single “Broken” brought them numerous accolades (Top20 airplay single; #1 and #2 in the Rock category for Amazon and iTunes). For their latest album ‘Animal’, the band decided to do the whole recording process themselves from a little cottage, a hunter’s cabin in the woods just outside Berlin. The result can be heard in songs that flow like a live set, capturing the full range of emotions the band has always been known for, but never encapsulated so successfully. The band presented their new album live on tour in Europe this past March and in Los Angeles on the 5th and 8th of April.
