With AUTOPSY’s highly anticipated new album ‘Morbidity Triumphant’ due for release imminently, the band have premiered the disturbing, blood-soaked video for the track “Knife Slice Axe Chop”
Chris Reifert laughingly says “Ever headbanged and barfed at the same time? Check out the video for our new song “Knife Slice, Axe Chop” and see how it feels. Our buddy Cam and his crew of lunatics at Rabidog Films and The Butchers Shop have given us the blood ‘n guts fest that we’ve always wanted and we can’t wait for you, our beloved Autopsy freaks to shove this nightmare into your eyes and ears. Tell yer pals!”
Following the recent news that AUTOPSY will be soon serving up a new slice of supreme sickness, in the form of their long-awaited new studio album ‘Morbidity Triumphant’ on 30 September, the band have revealed the first track in the form of the darkly sickening, creepily menacingly delicious “Skin By Skin” lyric video created by Matthew Vickerstaff (IG @Matthew_Vickerstaff / FB @Matthew Vickerstaff).
“Here’s one to crawl under your skin and rot you from the inside out. Eric Cutler has a knack for writing riffs that creep even us, the band out and this song is a perfect example of that. Get ready to feel uncomfortable, foam at the mouth and bang your fiendish head at the same time!” – Chris Reifert
“Skin By Skin” is now available as a digital single on all streaming platforms. Pre-order the album here.
“Live, loud, raw and ugly! Autopsy lays waste to the stage and assaults the crowd with classic death metal brutality”.
30th October 2020 and just in time for Halloween, AUTOPSY will release their first ever official live album – Live in Chicago.
The show was recorded this year just ahead of lockdown on 7th March at Reggie’s Rock Club, in Chicago, and contains 66 minutes of classics spanning their whole 30+ year career of the death metal legends.
Chris Reifert remembers the show fondly “We feel extremely lucky to have played this show, we got home from the trip and about a week later our home cities were all in lockdown. It was our 4th time playing Reggie’s and it is one of our favourite places. It was really a perfect trip. The flights were easy, we were all in a great mood, we played with killer bands, ate great food, saw old friends of ours and weed had just become legal in Chicago to boot. Plus we love the crowd there. They just want to come down, drink beer and have a kick ass metal time. The whole trip was a 10 out of 10 for us. I’m glad we didn’t know what was coming because that would have definitely dampened the festive atmosphere.”
The release also notably includes the brand new track “Maggots in the Mirror”, giving fans something to chew on while the impending next studio release takes shape. Due to recent & unforeseen global events, this stands as Autopsy’s only gig of 2020, out of what was intended to be a string of several appearances. Luckily the show was professionally recorded, unknowing of what was about to follow.
With mixing carried out by Adam Munoz, notable for his work on Autopsy’s studio albums, Live in Chicago captures Autopsy in all of their ferocious, gory glory, with artwork once again conjured from the masterfully warped mind of Wes Benscoter (Slayer, Nile, Kreator).
US Gods of sickness Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco & was among the early breed of death metal bands to emerge, releasing 4 albums on Peaceville before disbanding in 1995. After a 15-year hiatus, Autopsy officially returned from the grave with the 2010 EP, The Tomb Within. This was followed by the release of the band’s fifth studio album, Macabre Eternal in 2011, spearheading a resurgence of the legends with multiple subsequent albums and EPs.
Live in Chicago will be released on CD, a gatefold double vinyl black LP and digitally.
All pre-orders of the LP version through peaceville.com/store will receive the goregasmic Born Undead DVD release absolutely free. Features full “a history of horror” autopsy documentary and extensive live footage. Region free
Autopsy release new mini album – Puncturing the Grotesque Plus a split 7″ with label mates Bloodbath
Marking 30 years of depravity, the highly influential US death metal pioneers return with the Puncturing the Grotesque mini-LP, containing 7 tracks of blistering sickness, and their first new material since the pulverising Skull Grinder.
With the returning line-up of Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, Danny Coralles & Joe Trevisano, Autopsy once more deliver a rancid concoction of slow brooding doom and high-octane metal madness injected with twisted solos and an overdose of vocal insanity.
Puncturing The Grotesque features a high-octane version of the none-too-subtly titled ‘Fuck You!!!’, originally known from 80’s West Oakland act Bloodbath (which once featured current guitarist Danny Coralles). Bloodbath US was a large inspiration for Autopsy in their formative years.
Recorded at Earhammer Studios (Violation Wound), in Oakland CA with engineering & co-production duties carried out by Greg Wilkinson. With the delightfully distasteful artwork comes courtesy of Dennis Dread (Darkthrone/Abscess).
Of the 30th anniversary of Autopsy, mainman Chris Reifert comments: “30 years of Autopsy…how the hell did that happen? Seems like just yesterday but somehow a million years ago that a couple of degenerate teenagers formed this beast that still lumbers and lurches around the confines of the studio and the expanse of the world itself. It’s hard for us to believe too. Just don’t think we’re letting you out of the audio noose yet….we still have some of our sickest tricks up our sleeves for your horrific pleasure!”
One of the early breed of US death metal acts, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, & released 4 albums on Peaceville Records – beginning with the classic debut Severed Survival in 1989 – before disbanding in 1995, with members going on to form Abscess. Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15-year hiatus with the 2010 EP, The Tomb Within. This was followed by the release of the band’s fifth studio album, Macabre Eternal in 2011, to great acclaim, and the band has subsequently remained at the top of the death metal pile since. The full legacy of Autopsy was also recently extensively documented in the book/set After the Cutting.
In addition to the mini album there is a special treat for fans of the grotesque – As part of the ongoing 7” series marking 30 years of Peaceville comes a new vile treat in the form of a double feature from two titans of death metal – Autopsy have teamed up with the Sweden’s kings of gore Bloodbath to create a limited edition split 7”.
Autopsy present a high-octane version of the none-too-subtly titled “Fuck You!!!“, originally known from 80’s West Oakland act Bloodbath (which once featured current guitarist Danny Coralles). Bloodbath US was a large inspiration for Autopsy in their formative years, and the track is presented here in an exclusive alternate version to that featured on new MLP, Puncturing the Grotesque.
Bloodbath bring us their own nod to the past and inspirations, in the form of a relentless rendition of the Cancer classic, “Blood Bath“, recorded specially for this release, and giving a clear indication as to where the seeds of their own path to masterful brutality were sown.
AUTOPSY – “”Fuck You!!!” is a cover song of a cover song….and the only song we’ve ever considered covering. Eric and I loved the version that Danny’s old band Bloodbath did before we even knew Danny, let alone knowing that he’d end up joining Autopsy. And Danny didn’t even know it was a cover song at the time! Got it? It’s a crazy world and a crazy song. “It’s also a cool tribute to Dane Petersen (R.I.P.), the original Bloodbath vocalist. We feel we gave it the treatment it deserved….now it’s up to you to crank it up and hold those middle fingers high!.”
BLOODBATH – “Most of you would know this already, but for those of you who don’t, it was the title of the first song, on the first album by UK death metallers Cancer, which we originally lifted our band name from. Now with Peaceville celebrating its 30th anniversary, there would be no better token than offering this cover song to glorify the old school, brutal and trashy death metal legacy of Cancer fucking Cancer, once more! And as if it couldn’t get any better, we’ve the honour to split these seven inches with gore legends Autopsy who also bathe in their own blood!”

It’s the sensational comeback of the year: Swiss metal pioneers CORONER – in the current line-up of Tommy Vetterli (guitar), Diego Rapacchietti (drums) and Ron Broder (bass/vocals) – are back in the studio! This three-man band made a name for itself in the music scene with its discerning brand of technical thrash metal. Now, 23 long years after the band’s last album release (Grin, 1993), Coroner has announced plans to release a new studio album with Sony Music and Century Media Records.
In the 1990s, CORONER caused a stir in the music industry with its progressive and technically sophisticated music style. All over the world, Coroner was considered one of the most unconventional avant-garde metal bands, which is what attracted the attention of global greats like Metallica. Today, CORONER is a cult band and is highly respected not only by musicians such as Max Cavalera (Sepultura), Franz Treichler (The Young Gods) and Mille Petrozza (Kreator), but also by metal fans all over the world. After the release of their last studio album, Grin, in 1993, Coroner split up. Two years later, their best-of album, Coroner, was released. Sixteen years passed. Then, in 2011, Tommy Vetterli, Ron Broder, and the then drummer and founding member Marky Edelmann returned to the stage, playing a potpourri of numbers from their albums at concerts. Back then, the three musicians were almost certain that they would not be able to find the time for a new studio album. ‘Almost’ being the key word here.
For their seventh studio album, which is due for release in 2017, Coroner have signed a worldwide record deal with Sony Music Switzerland, which has enlisted the help of Century Media Records, a strong partner that will release Coroner records internationally. But for those fans who just can’t wait for the new album, Coroner have a special treat in store: Autopsy will be released on September 23rd, 2016.
Autopsy is a 3 x Blu-ray + LP or a 3 x DVD + CD set that is jam packed with a documentary movie of the band’s history, live recordings, previously unseen interviews and a best-of compilation. The Vinyl + Blu-ray Box, which is limited to 3,000 copies, is a real collector’s item and every copy of the box is signed by the band members themselves (See first photo!).
CORONER Live:
11.08.2016 Monthey (Switzerland) – Palp Festival
12.08.2016 Jaromer (Czech Republic) – Brutal Assault Open Air
08.09.2016 Hüttikon (Switzerland) – Meh Suff Festival
More dates to be announced soon …
The US death metal maestros AUTOPSY are set to return with a double-bill of unbridled horror this year on Peaceville Records, including their latest new material since last year’s highly acclaimed opus, “Tourniquets, Hacksaws & Graves”. “We at Autopsy HQ are pleased to have the opportunity to once again torture your minds and ear holes through the medium of recorded brutality. The band went back to Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in late July to record a brand new release called “Skull Grinder”.Musically, it’s just what you’d expect from us; no style changes, wimp outs, sell outs, settling down or caving in. Add to that acknowledgement of the obvious, some of Wes Benscoter’s sickest art yet to (dis)grace the cover, and you have a new sledgehammer to the bowels with no apologies offered whatsoever.
In case that isn’t enough to bring the taste of bile into the back of your throat, let it be known that there is also a four-disc set on the way titled “After the Cutting”, packed with hours of horrifying music, cover art from none other than Kev Walker as well as an extensive book written by Dennis Dread, riddled with interviews, photos and other assorted uncleanliness. The release date for both of these monstrosities is slated for this coming November. More details are forthcoming…”.
