Helsingin Sanomat reports that Finnish music exports — including such acts as HIM, CHILDREN OF BODOM, APOCALYPTICA and NIGHTWISH — achieved their all-time best result in 2009, according to a study commissioned by Music Export Finland (Musex).
For 2009 the overall market value of music exports was estimated at 32 million euros (approximately $46 million), which indicated a growth rate of 38 percent (9 million euros) from the year before.
The 2009 figure also eclipsed that of the previous peak year of 2005. Back then the music exports industry was estimated as having amassed nearly 29 million euros (approximately $42 million) in sales revenue.

Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will embark on a North American headlining tour in late June. Main support on the month-long trek will come from THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, with openers OBSCURA and SEPTICFLESH rotating positions each night.
“We are psyched to see all of our friends in North America and to play our new songs live for all of the BODOM maniacs,” commented CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho. “Get ready to throw it down!”
So far only one date has been released: July 19 at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
