2025 sees De Profundis marking their 20th Anniversary of meticulously crafted, musically adventurous darkness and death. Over their career so far the band have released six full length albums and performed hundreds of shows across the UK, Europe and as far afield as India, sharing stages with some of the biggest names in metal. Now they are set to celebrate this landmark year in their ongoing story with a brand new EP – The Gospel Of Rot!
This EP will be the first De Profundis recording to feature new vocalist Stefano Bassi and new bassist Simon McAuliffe – founding member, vocalist Craig Land having recently announced his retirement from the band.
The Gospel Of Rot will feature four tracks – three De Profundis originals and a cover of Sepultura classic ‘Subtraction‘ – and comes adorned in the amazing artwork of Pierre-Alain D. of 3mmi Design (Necrodeath, Scar Symmetry, The Crawling etc).
The Gospel Of Rot will be unleashed on October 1st.

Track list – 1. Ritual Cannibalism 2. Sectarian Warfare 3. Relentless March 4. Weaponised Rape 5. Embrace Dystopia 6. Desecrating Innocence 7. Religious Cancer 8. Scapegoat 9. The Sword Verses
Most bands mellow with age but nearly two decades since their inception, UK’s death metal stalwarts De Profundis have only evolved to become more and more extreme with each album, their latest probably being their most intense, aggressive and challenging release till date. The musicianship too has only grown over the years and the accomplished members are setting new standards for themselves with each one and complementing each other better than ever before. The interplay is absolutely remarkable on this one with the songwriting being way more intricate and engaging. The album almost comes across as a technical death metal one, with various facets revealing themselves upon repeat listens and parts clicking together as a whole. They’ve expanded upon their newly belligerent form of death metal while carefully counterbalancing it with emotive melodies which has been their forte since years, and the result is a terrific and impressive blend of sound that only a few can manage to pull off without overdoing either of it. The album is an absolute treat for any fan of death metal who likes his music to be demanding, engrossing and well thought out.
Line up – Vocals – Craig Land Guitars – Shoi Sen (Monument of Misanthropy) Guitars – Paul Nazarkardeh (Monument of Misanthropy) Drums – Tom Atherton Bass – Steve Woodcock
American grindcore icons TERRORIZER will kick off 2019 with a European live takeover. The journey will commence January 9th and run through January 27th. Support will be provided by Skeletal Remains and De Profundis. See confirmed dates below.
TERRORIZER will be touring in support of their Caustic Attack full-length, released worldwide last month via The End Records. The band’s first studio offering in six years was produced by Jason Suecof (Deicide, All That Remains, Kataklysm, Battlecross) at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida and features the apocalyptic cover art of Timbul Cahyono (Rotting Corpse, Pyrexia).
Wrote Decibel Magazine of the record,”If extreme metal is Sandoval’s ministry, Caustic Attack is the sort of triumph that’ll have you taking a look at that higher power.” Rolling Stone gushed, “Blastbeat expert Pete ‘Commando’ Sandoval shows why he still excels at the style he helped to perfect…” Metal Injection concurred, “Caustic Attack…is everything devastating you’ve ever loved about TERRORIZER and then some.”

The band adds, “It’s been 4 years since we’ve played in the UK and we couldn’t be happier to return. We toured with De Profundis (and Onslaught) last time around and we became good friends with all of them. With the current line-up of the band it made the most sense to call upon our friends Shoi and Arran to fill in the empty bass and lead guitar spots, they are both stellar musicians and with their experience you know that Demonic Resurrection is going to deliver the goods. We look forward to seeing all our fans at the shows.”
UK’s long-running death metallers DE PROFUNDIS have had an illustrious career. Over the years, they’ve kept perfecting their sound which incorporated progressive as well as melodic elements, and for their fifth full length, they’ve distilled only the best qualities into a massive death metal slab that’s emotive yet powerful.
‘The Blinding Light Of Faith’ is a bold step forward for the band into heavier territories as they eschew long, winding songs and go straight for the jugular. With a new logo made by Gary Ronaldson (Misery Index, Benighted) and a gnarly album artwork by Alex Tartsus (Sinister, Depravity) depicting the band’s anti-religious stance, DE PROFUNDIS are confident of their direction and this promises to be their best album thus far. It’s a quintessential death metal album that manages to showcase diversity without compromising on the heaviness.
‘The Blinding Light of Faith’ is set to be released on May 10th, via Transcending Obscurity Records.
‘The Blinding Light of Faith’ Track list:
1. Obsidian Spires
2. War Be Upon Him
3. Opiate For The Masses
4. Bastard Sons Of Abraham
5. Martyrs
6. Godforsaken
7. Beyond Judgement
8. Bringer Of Light
With their appearance in London at the end of last year having sold out almost immediately, Norwegian Black Metallers TAAKE have announced that they will return to the UK to play the following four dates in April alongside UK favourites FEN and DE PROFUNDIS. Due to other upcoming commitments FEN are unable to do the London show and will be replaced by WINTERFYLLETH.
Thu 6 April, The Exchange, Bristol
Fri 7 April, The Dome, London (Winterfylleth will be filling in for Fen at this show)
Sat 8 April, The Ruby Lounge, Manchester
Sun 9 April, Ivory Blacks, Glasgow
With over two decades of experience, both in the studio and on the stage, TAAKE, or more precisely, the band’s formidable founder and frontman Hoest, has acquired almost legendary status. Never abandoning the origins of Norwegian Black Metal, Hoest still manages to innovate and surprise fans the world-over, and, in a long-lasting collaboration with Dark Essence Records, consistently produces albums that are considered to be classics in their genre.
Hoest’s powerful persona and mesmerising stage presence makes TAAKE much sought after on the live circuit, with 2017 already gearing up to be as busy as the previous year. As well as the four UK dates have already been confirmed for various festival appearances over the coming year.

Formed in early 2006 with the goal of producing Atmospheric Black Metal that incorporates elements of post-rock, FEN have, since then, found themselves at the vanguard of a resurgent UK Black Metal scene. With an EP, four full length albums, several splits and compilations, two European tours and numerous appearances at prestigious festivals under their belts, FEN’s fifth full-length album “Winter”, which is set for release on Aural Music on the 17th March, is the band’s most ambitious, and yet most fundamental expression, yet. FEN recently debuted a track from the album, on the strength of which two limited edition versions of “Winter” are already close to being sold out more than a month before release date. The track “I (Pathway)” can be heard at https://fenuk.bandcamp.com/album/winter

DE PROFUNDIS started life in 2005 playing a haunting blend of Doom and Death metal, but, by 2010, whilst still retaining the sombre, melodic atmosphere the band’s sound became much more progressive in nature. Now, after years of honing their art, the sound of DE PROFUNDIS has been streamlined into concise, technical cacophonies that fuse ferocious Blackened Death metal with ethereal progressive overtones. DE PROFUNDIS’ extensive stage experience guarantees that this tour will be one too good to miss.
