DEW-SCENTED Are No More

A message from the band themselves:

DEW-SCENTED are no more!

All good things must come to an end…

And it’s now been 26 (!) intense years of sacrifices for the thrash metal cause for us. Despite numerous setbacks, DEW-SCENTED never split up or even stopped for any significant amount of time. We were always blessed with great opportunities and a strong will to soldier onwards.

All in all, we have had an amazing ride with this music we love and not only played countless great shows across the globe, but released ten (!) albums and most importantly, we made tons of life-long friendships along the way because of the band.

But it’s time to realize that we won’t be able to forge ahead much further because DEW-SCENTED just won’t work without complete and constant dedication. And giving such a full-time commitment simply isn’t possible anymore because of how life otherwise evolved throughout the years.

Having acknowledged that fact, we feel it’s best to wrap the band up in a proper way, with a purely positive feeling. To go on our own terms and with the best possible “conceptual end” (like the song on “Issue VI”, haha!), instead of leaving our destiny to chance or someone else’s actions.

DEW-SCENTED will therefore perform a last run of shows in the coming months and then have a very last special show in the group’s hometown Walsrode in Northern Germany on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 to celebrate the band’s legacy in style one last time.

Who knows, maybe we still manage to add some more last minute date(s) for the rest of the summer, but after October 6th, there will be no more frontline activities for DEW-SCENTED, no planned concerts and no further recordings.

We would like to thank everyone who has encountered, enjoyed or supported DEW-SCENTED at some point and in some way throughout the years. Basically to all of you reading this here!

Professionally, we would like to thank our record company Metal Blade as well as our previous partners at Prosthetic, Nuclear Blast, Grind Syndicate, Steamhammer/SPV and all their affiliated licensing associates for releasing and promoting our music.

Also thanks and cheers to all our former members or session players, our buddies in other bands, media outlets, publishing partners, booking agents and the local promoters who got involved with us in some capacity.

We will hopefully continue seeing you around in one way or another again!

Don’t forget that the music is out there and will forever remain available for all of us, especially if we keep supporting the scene and the young, talented bands out there!

And to end as we started, with another proverb: all’s well that ends well.

DEW-SCENTED Announce New Drummer, European Tour With FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Kicking Off Shortly

Multinational Thrashers DEW-SCENTED have announced a new drummer to their ranks.

Comments singer Leif Jensen: “We are excited to announce Marc Dzierzon as new drummer for Dew-Scented. As you might have noticed, we have been going back and forth with session drummer options (Thanks a lot again, Michiel and Uwe…you both rule!) since Koen left the fold at the end of 2015. We were checking for the right match not only for shows, but also to work on new material with us, handle recording duties and then also perform those tracks live in the future. The search is now over.

Marc Dzierzon (Centaurus-A, ArschlochKind) is a talented and dedicated musician, who blew us away from the very first moment on at rehearsals. Next to having a smooth understanding of what Dew-Scented is all about, he not only plays super hard and precise, but also brings along the attitude and we were looking for. We feel extremely confident about beginning this next new chapter of the band and you will see Marc debuting with Dew-Scented already on the upcoming Flotsam & Jetsam tour!“

Marc comments as follows: “I’m happy and proud to announce that I’ve become part of the Dew-Scented family. It’s a great honor for me to have the privilege of making music with these guys and I am very excited and motivated about everything that future will bring along! See you out on the road in March/April with Izegrim and Flotsam & Jetsam for a first greeting!“

Flotsam And Jetsam

US thrashers FLOTSAM & JETSAM (AFM RECORDS) have announced the ‘Forbidden Territories of the World’ European headliner tour with DEW-SCENTED (Metal Blade Records) & IZEGRIM (Listenable Records), presented by District 19 & Rock Hard.

The metal rampage will kick off on Thursday 23th of March at Plutonium in Strasskirchen, Germany, and will continue throughout Europe hitting Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary before concluding at Vienna Metal Meeting in Austria on Saturday 8th of April 2017.

After a recent successful tour with German thrash giants DESTRUCTION, FLOTSAM & JETSAM will return to Europe as a headliner to promote their latest self-titled album, which is out now on AFM RECORDS. Besides that, the audience can expect to hear classic songs from albums like ‘Doomsday for the Deceiver’ (which turned 30 years old this year!) and ‘No Place for Disgrace’. 
FLOTSAM & JETSAM commented, “We’re looking forward to bringing our headline show to Europe next year, with us doing at least 80 minutes a night of Flotsam classics, as well as fan favorites, off the new album. We’re known to change our set list up from show to show, so if a city has enough requests for a certain song, we’ll play it for you to make your show a little more special. Looking forward to seeing all our friends at these shows.“

Dew-Scented-Intermination

German/Dutch Thrash commando DEW-SCENTED have launched their 3rd single taken off their new album “Intermination“, released yesterday, the 12th of June in Europe, via Metal Blade Records! Rock Hard Germany exclusively presents the killer lyric video for ‘Ode To Extinction‘ within Europe now on their website – watch it HERE.

Bassplayer and songwriter Joost comments: “The idea for the music for ‘Ode To Extinction’ came from the bass intro, which was something I had been fooling around with for a while. As soon as the music kicks in, this progression is played by Marv, while Rory and I support it with a riff underneath. On its way, it turns out to be a 4-riff song but with quite a lot going on and a bit of an unusual structure. I am pleased with the melody/heaviness balance. Furthermore, I think Marv and Rory did a great job with the leads!” Singer Leif adds: “This track has some unusual structure and a pretty apocalyptic vibe to it, so the lyrics pretty much wrote themselves. It’s surely one of the heaviest songs on “Intermination” and should be fun to play live…“.

Comments singer Leif Jensen: “‘Affect Gravity’ is probably a bit of an unusual track for DEW-SCENTED and not only because of the talkbox at the beginning. It’s got quite some melodic riffing and a very dark twist to things, but it’s always dynamic and heavy. It turned out to be one of my personal fave-tracks on the album and I look forward to playing it live too!” Adds drummer Koen Herfst: “I tried to really emphasize the aggressiveness of the song by playing pretty much straight forward and really loud in the parts that ask for it. Love the way the toms turned out in the mix which makes the parts that lead into the verses really heavy. Halfway the song I do a groove inspired by Derek Roddy, which is basically a blast-beat on my second snare combined with a back beat on my main snare. After that I do a really heavy and basic groove which breaks things open in the guitar-solo.“

Comments the band: “DEW-SCENTED’s 10th (!) studio album is completed! The record is entitled “Intermination” and sounds more focused and determined than ever before.
