MOTHERSHIP To Tour With SCORPION CHILD

The Dallas-based badasses in MOTHERSHIP are about to hit the road with a new wave of retro minded rockers – SCORPION CHILD and GYPSYHAWK – this Fall, and will weave their way across the U.S., also making their very first visit to Canada! It was recently announced that the trio were added as the support slot for the SCORPION CHILD and KADAVAR tour; which kicks off in Denver, CO with the Snowboard on the Block Festival on September 14th. Also added to the tour package is WILSON and Metal Blade recording artists, GYPSYHAWK , with whom MOTHERSHIP toured with earlier this Spring. This will mark the third tour that MOTHERSHIP will embark on in 2013, however, this will be the first time that the boozing bruisers have ventured away from the western half on the U.S.

When asked about their thoughts on this latest road trip, Kyle Juett (vocalist/bassist) had this to say, “We could not be more stoked that our Scorpion Child brothers asked us to join them on what will be one of the top, if not, the best touring Rock & Roll shows taking place this Fall. Personally, I’m looking forward to watching all the bands jam and to welcome aboard any and all new brothers and sisters every night.”

Metaldudes Cats Book is a photography book dedicated to the creative and incredible people within the metal music scene and their cats. This book is intended to not only celebrate the beauty of the people photographed (and their adorable kitties), but also to transcend the judgement placed on the metal scene, which sometimes is characterized as violent, hateful and misanthropic.

Once published, proceeds from the book will go toward no-kill cat shelters along the West Coast. With support from dedicated animal advocates such as Greg Ginn, Donald Tardy, Gitane Demone, and artist Christophe Szpajdel, Metaldudes Cats Book shows that while the music may be brutal, depressive, or extreme, the people in the scene are amazingly compassionate and affectionate, especially towards their pets.

ISIS, XASTHUR, ATRIARCH, BLACK GOAT, BOOK OF BLACK EARTH, HARASSOR, LORD TIME, SKELETONWITCH, KING DUDE, MORBID ANGEL, ANHEDONIST, THRONES, LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH, MUNICIPAL WASTE, HOLY GRAIL, NAUSEA, EXHUMED, PHOBIA, MURDER CONSTRUCT, CATTLE DECAPITATION, and GYPSYHAWK are only a few of the bands that have already volunteered to be photographed with their kitties.

Alexandra Crockett began the Metaldudes Cats Book project in 2010 when she decided to ask her cat-loving, metal-loving friends if they would be interested in a photo project. Their reaction: excitement and delight.

“The metal scene has long been thought of as a culture of people who are into dark, depressing, even disturbing imagery and deas. I believe that in a lot of ways, these portrayals have spilled over into judgments of people’s character as well. In general, these judgments are not only negative, but also incorrect. This, of course, can also be said of the portrayal of men in our society.”

Alexandra has done over 110 in-person photoshoots up and down the West Coast. Incredibly, she has done this all by herself. Over 300 photos from all over the world have been submitted, and a number of benefit metal shows for no-kill cat shelters in Metaldudes Cats Book’s name. Once the book is published and available for purchase, 40% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to no-kill cat shelters all over the West Coast, including Seattle, Portland, Oakland, and Los Angeles.

Recently, an Indiegogo campaign for the project raised over $3000. dollars, and fundraising shows are being held with the help of LA-based shelters. In order to self-publish the book, Alexandra still needs a significant financial boost from her fellow cat and metal lovers.

GYPSYHAWK Debuts New Video For “State Lines”; Performing At Metal Blade 30th Anniversary Show This Friday

Metal Blade announces that Gypsyhawk recently filmed a video for their song State Lines from Revelry & Resilience. The video was filmed, in true DIY fashion, on their headlining tour in August at a house party in South Lake Tahoe, CA. The video, as well their tour dates with The Sword, can be seen now at metalblade.com/gypsyhawk.

Additionally, Gypsyhawk will be performing at the Metal Blade Records 30th anniversary show with Armored Saint and Sacred Reich on November 30th, at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. Additional special guests confirmed for the show include: Amon’s Amarth’s Johan Hegg, Ray Alder of Fates Warning/Redemption, as well as dUg Pinnick of King’s X. The guest musicians will join Armored Saint on stage throughout their set to perform a variety of cover songs. That Metal Show’s Eddie Trunk and Don Jamieson are confirmed to host the event. GYPSYHAWK Debuts New Video For “Hedgeking”

METAL BLADE UK has issued as follows:

Gypsyhawk recently completed a video for their songHedgeking from Revelry & Resilience. The video was directed by Simon Chan of Artificial Army and features the acting talents of the Australian born actor and body builder Guy Grundy. A behind-the-scenes video for Hedgeking was recently released and can be seen below:

The finished product, which brings to life the story behind the song, shows theHedgeking (played by Grundy) casting aside his crown and taking up a life of selling his sword, warring and whoring. Watch the video now here.

Gypsyhawk will be on tour this fall as direct-support for The Sword. The 37 date U.S. tour commences October 29th in Corpus Christi, Texas and runs through December 18th. The opening bands on tour included Eagle Claw up through November 24th and American Sharks from December 2nd through December 18th.
