BLACK featuring – former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin, ex-HAMMERFALL bassist Magnus Rosén and KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque and drummer Danny Needham (VENOM) – are currently mixing material for their debut album at LaRocque’s Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden. Check out the new band logo below:
Rosén checks in with BraveWords.com: “We are mixing the first songs with Black, then we will look for a recording deal. We have a few labels interested right now, but we are making sure that we find someone that can work with us for a long time. This is not a project, this is a band. So we hope we are on the road some time next year if all goes well.”

The members of HAMMERFALL announced in March that they were take an extended break immediately following their festival appearances this summer.
“It has been an unbelievable first 15 years, to say the least,” said guitarist Oscar Dronjak, “and now we are taking a pause to ensure that we have another 15 years ahead of us.”
There will be no HAMMERFALL activities in 2013, but the band promises to return strong the following year. “The plan is to use the year off to recharge our batteries and come back more vital than ever with a new album in 2014,” explained singer Joacim Cans.
HAMMERFALL‘s new album, “Infected”, sold around 1,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD debuted at No. 16 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
HAMMERFALL‘s previous CD, “No Sacrifice, No Victory”, opened with 1,400 units to land at No. 38 on the Top New Artist Albums chart.
“Infected” entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 2 (right behind LADY GAGA!). The CD was released in Europe in May 2011 and was made available in North America in June via Nuclear Blast Records. Laying down the foundation themselves in their own studio in Sweden, the members of HAMMERFALL then traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to finish it up with acclaimed producer James Michael (MÖTLEY CRÜE, SCORPIONS, MEAT LOAF). He also mixed the album, giving it a decisive updated edge without losing any of the essence of the band’s sound.
HAMMERFALL was among the five final nominees that competed for the “Best Hard Rock/Metal” honor at the Swedish Grammis awards (Swedish Grammy equivalent), which was held February 14, 2012 at Kungliga Operan in Stockholm.

On July 28, Swedish melodic metallers HAMMERFALL will perform a very special show at the unique outdoor Dalhalla venue in Rättvik, Sweden. This concert will serve as the 15-year celebration of the release of HAMMERFALL‘s debut album, 1997’s “Glory To The Brave”.
The following very special guests will join HAMMERFALL at the show:
* Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), who was HAMMERFALL‘s vocalist from 1993 to 1996.
* Stefan Elmgren (FULLFORCE), who was HAMMERFALL‘s guitar player from 1997 to 2008.
* Jesper Strömblad (founding member of IN FLAMES), who was an original member of HAMMERFALL as well as a longtime songwriter for the band.
The Swedish all-girl hard rock band CRUCIFIED BARBARA will be the opening act.
The concert will be professionally filmed and recorded for a future DVD release.

HAMMERFALL will celebrate its 15th anniversary at two special shows this summer: July 28 at Dalhalla in Sweden, and a week later at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. Joacim stated: “Obviously, the gig to attend is the one in Dalhalla; that will be the biggest and most special show we have ever done! But we will not forget that it all started at Wacken for us once upon a time.” The German festival was the first show HAMMERFALL ever played outside Sweden and marked the beginning of the long and passsionate relationship the band has enjoyed with the German metal fans. “This is why we have decided to pull out all the stops for these two shows, and really make them special,” Oscar said, “It will be a fitting end to the first 15 years of our career.”
Metalheads can start up this year’s Sziget Festival (6-13 August 2012 – Óbudai Island, Budapest) with a day in paradise, as DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, HAMMERFALL, MOONSPELL, IGNITE and SUPERBUTT will all appear on the dedicated Metal Day of the event on August 7 in Budapest, Hungary.
Day 0 of Europe’s Best Major Festival will provide a dedicated metal event, hosted by the Hungarian Main stage at the northern part of the island and presenting a quality international line-up, reaching out to many styles of the hardest and heaviest genre. All this from 2PM all the way until 11PM.
The Metal Day line-up starts with Hungarian rock-metal heroes Superbutt, a Budapest based five-piece combo that has already released five full length albums and toured all across Europe. The next act on stage will be Californian hardcore-punk group Ignite, playing their hard, but still melodic tunes with an unstoppable intensity.
Then it’s time for Portuguese heavy metal stars Moonspell, well known throughout the continent, having released their newest double LP – Alpha Noir / Omega White – this April, which is already the ninth full length album of the band. After them the stage will be ready for Oscar Dronjak’s legendary Scandinavian power metal act, Hammerfall. Last time they played at Sziget was in 2007 and since then released 2 studio albums. And if you know what they are up to, you know they will prevail! Producing great gothic metal is evidently not just a privilege of northern countries. This theory is clearly proven by Italy’s Lacuna Coil, who are also amongst the Sziget Metal Day bands. The last 17 years already saw them selling more than 2 million albums world-wide, also achieving huge successes in the United States.
And the night will be closed by Norway’s nr. 1 black metal act, the unbelievably strong and monumental Dimmu Borgir. After spending the last 20 years on stage, they belong to the elite of the Scandinavian scene, releasing dominant albums and playing on the biggest metal events all over the world.
Sziget nr. 20 starts strongly and plans to celebrate in style. See you in the mosh pit!
