“The Deadliest creature on Earth is the Human.”– Ice – T
The originators of Rap Metal BODY COUNT are back. ICE-T and his band are as angry as ever on their 7th studio album, titled “Carnivore”, which coincides with their 30th anniversary as a band!
“Carnivore”, the band’s second album for Century Media Records, continues the path of its uncompromising and critically acclaimed predecessors, “Bloodlust” (2017) and “Manslaughter” (2014), in pairing ICE-T’s angry and socio-critical lyrics with thick guitar riffs and nods to metal and hardcore greats like Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies and Rage Against The Machine.
“Carnivore” will be released on March 6th, 2020. Pre-orders for all formats will start on January 10th, 2020.
The detailed cover design was created by award winning Polish artist Zbigniew M. Bielak, who the band met on their 2017 European tour, and who is well respected in the metal community for his album covers for Ghost, Mayhem, Deicide and Paradise Lost among others. LA-based supergroupBEAUTY IN CHAOS presents their new single‘Un-Natural Disaster’ (Collide Mix) ft. dUg Pinnick, Zakk WyldeandIce-T. Remixed byStatikofCollide, this track also featuredThe Offspring‘s Pete Paradaon drums and BIC mastermindMichael Ciravoloon guitar.
This is the first song to be previewed from the soon-to-be-released album ‘Beauty Re-Envisioned’, which will contain an extremely wide variety of remixes and alternate versions of many of the tracks that appear on their debut album‘Finding Beauty in Chaos’. Both albums are produced byMinistry‘s Grammy-nominated producerMichael Rozon at Ciravolo’s own SAINTinLA Studio.
This track breaks the constraints placed on the debut album, not only due to the addition of synthesizers, but also in the wicked unleashing of blistering guitar solo by guitar guruZakk Wylde. “Zakk plays more notes on this solo than I did on the entire album, but with taste, technique and a ton of flair,”Michael Ciravololaughs.
For this project, Ciravolo – a New Orleans native – teamed up withKing’s X’s dUg Pinnick, who previously lived in Houston, sharing experiences and memories of the chaos caused byHurricanes Katrina and Harvey. Additionally discussing the ‘beauty’ of those who came to help the victims, profoundly shaped the song’s music and lyrics.
“When Michael sent me the music and asked me if I would sing and play on it, I immediately said yes. I think it rocks!! And some deep lyrics were my thoughts. Since I come from Katy Texas, where it flooded a few years ago very badly and, not very far away, it was the same for New Orleans, I thought it was appropriate to sing about the un-natural disasters that are happening due to man’s ignorance,” saysdUg Pinnick. “It was fun putting my bass part on the track and a big surprise being on the same song with Ice-T and Zakk Wylde. What a great opportunity, I’m glad to be a part of this project. And the video shoot was wet!! Lol! And so much fun… and even captures the serious topic of this song.”
Ice-T, famed rapper, actor and front-man ofBody Count, also spits out a poignant exclamation point to the extent of these tragedies. “This song really hits close to home as I was born and raised in New Orleans. I lived in Los Angeles when Katrina hit, but watched as friends and family lost everything. My elderly Aunt was evacuated as the city’s services shut down, and sadly she did not survive the move to Alabama. She along with at least 1200 others lost their lives as a result of this devastating hurricane,” saysMichael Ciravolo.
Vicente Cordero, who directed the accompanying video, also directed the three previous Beauty In Chaos videos, delivers a visually stunning interpretation of this song. Production credit for all four goes toIndustrialism Films.
Originally from New Orleans and now based in LA, Michael Ciravolo has played guitar inHuman Dramafor the past 30 years, most recently on‘Broken Songs for Broken People’(2017). Perhaps best known as President ofSchecter Guitar Research, he has also played live and recorded with Michael Aston’sGene Loves Jezebel since 1998.
On June 21, ‘Beauty Re-Envisioned’ will be released via LA-based label33.3 Music Collectiveon deluxe CD and limited-edition heavy-weight colored vinyl. It will also be available digitally across online stores, includingiTunes, and streaming platforms likeSpotify.CDs and vinyl can be ordered from the Beauty in Chaos website athttps://www.beautyinchaosmusic.com/music-store.
NYHC kings MADBALL have finished the recording of their upcoming new album, “For The Cause”.
The record is currently being mixed and mastered by renowned producer Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios in Denmark.
It was co-produced by Tim Armstrong (RANCID), who is also featured on one song on the album. Commented MADBALL singer Freddy Cricien: “Tim and us go way back, he‘s an old friend and super talented guy… across the board! A legend in his own right. He invited us to come record with him and it all fell into place very organically. He‘s respected our band from day one and was excited to be a part of this. We‘re honored to have him on board.”
Bass player Hoya Roc states: “We got a real good album. It feels like the movie “Pulp Fiction”. We’ve got every style of hardcore in there. It feels like we’ve got something special!”
The band also announced to have legendary rapper/actor/frontman Ice-T (BODY COUNT) to guest on one track.
Commented Ice-T: “It‘s an honor to record with the legendary MADBALL. BODY COUNT draws its closest similarities to NY Hardcore. This is a natural.”
Added Cricien: “It’s truly an honor to have Ice-T on our record! I grew up on his music from his early hip hop stuff till now. He’s an iconic figure but also a ‘class act’, you don’t always get both at once. Ice has a great respect for NYHC and MADBALL, means the world. This was meant to happen…. real recognizes real.”
MADBALL recently released the »Family Biz« split 7″ vinyl single with WISDOM OF CHAINS, featuring an early version of the upcoming album’s title track.
Speaking on the track, front-man Freddy Cricien said “it’s about staying the course and fighting for what you love and are passionate about. It’s a theme that you’ll hear a lot throughout our next album. Utilizing negativity and the obstacles you face as inspiration. ‘Say I can’t, say I won’t again… Give me the fuel that I need to ascend!”
Ice-T‘s BODY COUNT has launched the new track, “Black Hoodie”, via this explosive music video directed by TreachTribe, so click on the link below now to check it out. “Black Hoodie” Official Music Video:
Ice-T states: “This type of thing happens everyday and nobody marches or it never makes the news. The video speaks for itself.”
Ice-T and co-founder/lead guitarist Ernie C have perfected their mix of thrash, punk and bottom heavy doom across five albums, hitting a zenith with the unstoppable Manslaughter. They embody the monumental Southern California tradition of street born punk bands like Suicidal Tendencies combined with the aggressive aural napalm of Slayer. This is abrasive, in-your-face heavy metal at its very finest.
The highly controversial and iconic, BODY COUNT (featuring Ice-T on vocals), has officially inked a world-wide deal with Century Media Records and will begin tracking their highly anticipated new, full-length offering with Will Putney (Miss May I, Upon A Burning Body). Putney also tracked the group’s last effort, “Manslaughter”, which caught the entire genre’s immediate attention with its sheer abrasiveness and unabashed brutality.
Ice- T states: “It’s cool to be a member of The Century Label Group alongside such a lot of well-established metal artists. With our last album Manslaughter, we tested the waters and got a great response from the fans and critics. Now it’s time to go kill it and make a more aggressive album and keep the BODY COUNT style intact. Producer, Will Putney (Miss May I, Upon A Burning Body), is like a member of the band and has an excellent ear. He’s a great producer because he captures the true essence of our band’s sound. Once we are done writing the song it’s his job to step in and make it sound better. He helps move the record in the right direction, were anticipating working with him again. “Once the records done, were going to shoot a lot of music videos and perform spot-dates on certain tests, etc.”
This is the group that dropped hip-hop attitude into heavy metal and hard rock music before Rage Against The Machine, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Hollywood Undead made records, despite nary an ounce of rapping over their mosh-pit inducing songs. Body Count is a full on metal band, fronted by a legendary rapper who drops knowledge, violent stories and verbal middle fingers, with a bellowing growl descended from some of punk rock’s most pissed off screamers.
Ice-T and cofounder/lead guitarist Ernie C have perfected their mix of thrash, punk and bottom heavy doom across five albums, hitting a zenith with the unstoppable “Manslaughter”, backed by bassist/songwriter Vincent Price (with Body Count now for nearly 15 years), drummer Ill Will (joined in 2009) and new guitarist Juan Garcia of EVILDEAD. They embody the monumental Southern California tradition of street born punk bands like Suicidal Tendencies combined with the aggressive aural napalm of Slayer. From the punk bite of their gold debut through the metallic triumph of “Born Dead” (1994), “Violent Demise: The Last Days” (1997) and “Murder 4 Hire” (2006), to the all encompassing Body Count vibe of “Manslaughter”, which merges the strengths of the band’s entire catalogue.
Driven by the same iconoclastic, anti-authoritarian and pimp-turned-poet mentality that made Ice-T a gangster rap pioneer, a platinum artist from the streets and a household name in film and television before “rapper/actor” was a commonly used term, Body Count flipped the script with the same tenacity when they bumrushed heavy metal. The first rumblings of Body Count were heard in the eponymous song unleashed on Ice-T’s gigantic “O.G.: Original Gangster” album in 1991, which hit stores just two months after Ice’s first major movie role in the modern crime classic, “New Jack City.” The fierce thrash of the “Body Count” anthem put people on notice that the Megadeth cap Ice-T wore on MTV wasn’t for show: aggressive heavy metal and hardcore is in his blood.
A new generation of metalheads better brace themselves for the return of BODY COUNT with their Sumerian Records debut, Manslaughter – set for release June 16th in the UK.
‘Talk Shit, Get Shot’ is the first single to be unveiled from the forthcoming album. The video is now online:
