IN FLAMES, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, GRAVEYARD and THE HAUNTED have been nominated for a P3 Guld award from Swedish radio station P3 in the “Best Rock/Metal Album Of The Year” category. The winners will be announced on January 21, 2012 during a live awards ceremony broadcast from the Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg, Sweden.
For first the first time in the eight-year history of the awards, it will be up to the public to cast their votes rather than industry professionals.
P3 Guld nominees in the “Best Rock/Metal Album of the Year” category are as follows:
* ARCH ENEMY – “Khaos Legions”
* GRAVEYARD – “Hisingen Blues”
* THE HAUNTED – “Unseen”
* IN FLAMES – “Sounds Of A Playground Fading”
* OPETH – “Heritage”

IN FLAMES‘ tenth album, “Sounds Of A Playground Fading”, was recently certified gold in the group’s home country of Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies.
Note: The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in Sweden has revised the sales requirements for albums to reach gold status in the country twice in the last seven years — from the pre-2002 level of 40,000 to the current 20,000.
The members of IN FLAMES were presented with “Playground” gold awards prior to their November 18, 2011 concert at Hovet in Stockholm. The awards were handed out by Razzia Records, which released the album in Sweden.
“Sounds Of A Playground Fading” sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
IN FLAMES‘ previous CD, “A Sense of Purpose” (Koch) opened with 20,000 units to land at No. 28. This was slightly less than the opening tally of “Come Clarity” (Ferret), which shifted just under 24,000 copies in February 2006 to enter the chart at position No. 58.
13 songs were laid down for “Sounds Of A Playground Fading”, which was recorded at the band’s IF Studios in Gothenburg with engineer Roberto Laghi (HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, LOK, SONIC SYNDICATE).
