Malta’s Industrial/Alternative Metal Project INDIGO DARKPSYCH has released their 1st Global Single and it’s been playing on some 30 Online Radios and 15 other Radio Frequencies spread across the UK and the US since the beginning of June with great feedback from the stations and their listeners alike. The track entitled “Work Those Brain Cells” is taken from their 3rd Album released in their country of Malta in September 2012 and in the UK and other EU territories in August of last year.
‘Indigo Darkpsych’ is mainly an Industrial/Alternative Metal Project started by Marvic ‘Indigo’ Lewis in the year 2002/3 as a soloist after having had a long&fruitful musical career as a Vocal Artist and a great and versatile experience in performing and making music since the age of 8, and is the only Industrial Metal Act on the Island and could bring about a new sub-genre. The girl writes, composes and co-produces her own music and have worked with numerous professional musicians all along and one great guitarist/drummer/recording engineer by the name of David Depasquale has stood by her side from the year 2010 and they together produced a Magnificent Album by the name of ”All That Remains”, mentioned above as ID’s 3rd full-length.
In only 7 months’ time, it was written and produced with ease and comfort as the 2 of them discovered a new chemistry soon after their fellow drummer and bassist left without valid reasons in the beginning of 2012. Amazing things started happening then and this 3rd Album is in fact a manifestation of the great stuff that one can achieve when standing still against all odds and ‘Work Those Brain Cells’ is by far one of the energy boosters that come out of this fantastic Album which can be found on ravenheartmusic, cdbaby and all other main web-stores and one can also find ‘Indigo Darkpsych’ on most networking sites to view more content”
Maltese Vocal Artist INDIGO DARKPSYCH has released the 3rd ‘Indigo Darkpsych’ Album by Ravenheart Music. The new Album entitled ALL THAT REMAINS is a series of 10 thrilling tracks with a mix of styles fused with some steady & intriguing, heavy riffs. The main vibe is Industrial/Alternative but rapcore, dubstep, trash&electro and some other various rhythmic styles, are also used respectively and there is no chance of getting bored or laying back at any point in time.
Maria Victoria Lewis is the backbone and founder of this Act being an amazingly versatile singer-songwriter and together with the genial All Metal guitarist&engineer David Depasquale, this full-length record has been bred and delivered with agility and a lot of groove.
The 1st single by the name of ‘Shining Inside’ is being released on various Airwaves this month while the physical Dijipack is made available on 2 web-stores so far, that of the Label (www.ravenheartmusic.com/our_store.html) and the worldwide CdBaby.com (www.cdbaby.com/cd/indigodarkpsych3).
One must say that with this release Lewis and Depasquale are to kick start a new venture and therefore continue to live up to the evolutionary path that Indigo has embarked on since the year 2002. The young Vocalist believes that this is simply the 1st step towards a successful exportation of this unique music project and she will never stop looking and moving forward,be creative and innovative, and keep striving to formulate a new sounding sub-genre.

Indigo DarkPsych is fronted by Marvic ‘Indigo’ Lewis. Originally known as Indigo, in November 2003 Marvic released her first single ‘Washed Away’ on radio, and in July 2004 released ‘Struck’. They both turned out to be hits, and in fact she was nominated as a best solo artist in the Bay Music Awards 2004. This inspired her as Indigo to continue writing and developing that same style, until she concluded a whole album under the name of ‘STRUCK’. That album being an awesome slab of Alternative Hard Rock with subtle touches of Electronica, and stacks of melody. Her second release ‘These Are The Roots’ is a heavier, more metallic sound, but maintaining the melodic sensibility that was so apparent in her debut release. Marvic co-wrote and co produced the 2nd album and was responsible for the album artwork.

Indigo Darkpsych “Struck EP” (2012)
by Dylan Raine
Struck – On first glances you immediately get that feeling of something almost out of the ordinary. Combined with an almost ‘dance’ like industrial special effects and raunchy guitar riffs, this track takes you on an ever elusive journey into the minds of industrial based metal and keeps you there.
Thanks – The overall basis of this song opens up the listener to another view on life in an almost Kate Bush style. The lead vocals provide both gentle and powerful combinations to give you not only beauty, but simplicity throughout the song. The passions in the vocal lines are enough to keep you listening, waiting in anticipation for the next progression.
I don’t care – From what starts off as a gentle paced song, you are led into a false sense of security just as the strength of the vocals come out in full force. The vocal lines control this entire track with passion holding you deep within the music, putting you almost on the edge of your seats. It is not often you get melody, power, great progressions, beautiful use of strings (orchestral) and passion all combined within the same song.
Overall, for uplifting music and an artist to keep you hooked throughout, this band has so many great features going for them. Indigo Darkpsych would be ideal for not only diehard fans of female fronted melodic metal/industrial such as Evanescence, Lacuna Coil etc… It is also for those with an interest in heavy rock and ballad based music. The quality of the recordings is at very high standards as is almost expected with music software on the increase, as are the progressions in the instruments, vocals, and melodies. Keep an eye (and possibly your mind) open for Indigo Darkpsych, as I too am certainly looking forward to more releases in the future.
Final score 7.5/10
