Renowned Finnish melodic death metal masters INSOMNIUM are thrilled to announce the “Beyond the Shadows of the Dying Sun” 10th Anniversary Tour, celebrating a decade of their legendary album, Shadows of the Dying Sun. This landmark tour will take the band across 13 European cities, delivering an unforgettable performance of the album in its entirety with anthems like While We Sleep, Primeval Dark, and Ephemeral, alongside other evergreens. This will be one of the few opportunities to see INSOMNIUM in its original album line-up on stage again, with both Ville Friman and Markus Vanhala on guitars.
As very special guest, OMNIUM GATHERUM will join the tour with an anniversary set of Beyond performed in full length. Released in 2013, this 6th studio album from the Finnish virtuosi is considered a landmark in their discography, featuring fan favorites such as New Dynamic, The Unknowing , and White Palace.
To round up this epic combo, Texas-based highflyers HINAYANA are joining the line-up for 13 unmatched evenings of melodic death magnificence.
“’Shadows of the Dying Sun’ holds a special place in our blackened hearts. It marked a pivotal moment in our career and pushed us up to a new level,” comments INSOMNIUM’s Niilo Sevänen. “We are excited to bring this album to life on stage in its full glory. Some of these songs have never been played live before.”
OMNIUM GATHERUM’s Jukka Pelkonen adds: “The OGs are kicking the year 2025 off with a delightful deliverance by bringing our beloved ’Beyond’ album for you to enjoy live with us. We are very proud to share the stage again with our brothers in Insomnium, who will do the same with their ’Shadows of a Dying Sun’! So be brave, adventurous and come and witness this anniversary extravaganza!”
Finnish masters of melancholy and haunting melodies INSOMNIUM are teaming up with their friends from highspeed melodic death virtuosi OMNIUM GATHERUM, for 25 nights of gloom and sinister anthems in North America.
Both bands have been two prime examples of exceptional melodeath originating from Europe’s freezing North and have gained a massive following over the years through their captivating sound that combines blistering guitar riffs, thunderous drumming, and guttural vocals. For years, the American and Canadian fans have been waiting for the combo of “Insomnium Gatherum” to hit the road together again after the pandemic-related cancellation in 2020 and now, with no more virus in sight, it will finally happen in April and May 2024.
WILDERUN, hailing from Boston, will join as support with their unique mélange of prog and folk metal.
Tickets and VIP options for this melodic-deadly-combo will go on sale on Friday at 10:00 AM from insomnium.net/tour

Music, essentially, is a weapon to destroy the walls we built around us – and Finnish metal melancholists INSOMNIUM are amongst its strongest wielders. Their ninth masterpiece, “Anno 1696”, released in early 2023 led us deep into the dark and troublesome past of Northern Europe, a time of witches, of superstition, of bloodlust and frenzy. And of werewolves. In November, INSOMNIUM continue the epic story of “Anno 1696” on their addendum-like EP “Songs of the Dusk”, featuring 22 minutes of music and three more journeys into a dark and foggy past. “We simply had eleven great songs, and we thought that this material is too good to be ‘just’ bonus tracks,” Niilo Sevänen (bass, vocals) states. “They are part of the big story, so you can think of them as the director’s cut material that tells a little extra. For those who want to have more.”
Mixed by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Orgone Studios) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Fascination Street Studios), “Anno 1696” and the matching “Songs of the Dusk” are by far their most accomplished, emotionally rattling, soaring achievements.
Originally “Songs of the Dusk” was a part of the Ltd. Deluxe 2CD Artbook of “Anno 1696”, but it is now available separately as: Ltd. CD Digipak, LP with etching on side B and as Digital EP.

Today marks the release of the title track, “Song of the Dusk”, that is available on all digital platforms. Make sure to watch another majestic video from Riivata for the epic, almost 10 minute long saga HERE
The band comments: “As the album would have been too long, we left these three tracks out on the initial version, yet they are part of the ‘Anno 1696’ story and complement it and some of the gaps are being filled. ‘Song Of The Dusk’ offers an alternative ending, so people can decide which kind of mood they prefer. This version is a bit more hopeful and less tragic, at least on a general Insomnium scale – everyone is dead… except the wolves.”
November cannot come soon enough when Finnish melodeath masters INSOMNIUM will present their news songs live on their extensive European headlining tour, after playing an exclusive show in Istanbul on September 8th and their first-ever live appearance in Tel Aviv on September 9th.
ENSLAVED are pleased to announce a month-long, North American co-headline tour with INSOMNIUM. The run will take place in April 2023, shortly after the release of Enslaved‘s new studio album, Heimdal, out March 3rd. Support on the road will come from Black Anvil.
Ivar Bjørnson commented, “Neither you nor we will BELIEVE how much we are looking forward to coming back to the US of A and Canada in April 2023! We have a new album (and more if you want to be technical), ‘Heimdal’, to show you – spoiler alert: it will lay venues waste. Yes, we are that confident. We also have some rather cosmically awesome (!) bands joining the trek in co-headliners Insomnium and support Black Anvil – how could this become anything but the most spectacular event of 2023?”
Tickets will go on-sale Friday December 16th @ 10am (local time) via the below links.
But Enslaved have even more planned for 2023, including festival show dates, and a unique album release event in their home city of Bergen, Norway. Named Heimhug, the evening will feature anextended Enslaved live set with guests, and very special guest Jo Quail.
03 March 2023 Bergen, Norway @ USF Verftet HEIMHUG – an Enslaved Heimdal album release event Tickets available HERE Please head to enslaved.no/Heimhug and see the poster below for more information.
Grutle Kjellson commented, “Sometimes the answers and the truths lie under your very nose, or where the journey starts, where you first set sail towards horizons unknown. This was very much the case when we started working on “Heimdal”; we stepped back and looked a bit inwards and also at our immediate surroundings, at the area we hail from and where we still dwell today; Hordaland. On these shores people have been living and dying, worshiping and crying, laughing and lying ever since the Stone Age. History has been written here, history will still be written here and we will continue to dwell here until the end of our days.
Built around this historical narrative, “Heimdal” was created, and on the 3rd of March 2023 we would like to invite you to celebrate the album release with us and pay homage to our history.
Under the “Heimhug”-banner, we’re gonna perform a two-set release concert at USF Bergen with very special guests, we’ll have an art exhibition with the specific photographs and drawings we used for the artwork on the album and also an exclusive showing of last year’s “The Otherworldly BigBand experience”.
See you in Bergen in March! Alu Alu Laukar!”
Enslaved‘s16th studio album, Heimdal, will be released on March 3rd 2023, via Nuclear Blast Records.
Heimdal tracklisting 01. Behind The Mirror 02. Congelia 03. Forest Dweller 04. Kingdom 05. The Eternal Sea 06. Caravans To The Outer Worlds 07. Gangandi (Bonus Track)* 08. Heimdal
Heimdal, is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. The record is named after Heimdal, arguably the most mysterious entity in Nordic mythology.
The record features psychedelic track ‘Caravans To The Outer Worlds‘ from last year’s EP of the same name. Albumbonus versions contain an extra track, ‘Gangandi‘, alongside a Blu-Ray copy of 2021’sstunning Otherworldly Big Band Experience streamed event – the band’sboldest project to date, featuring fellow Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. The kaleidoscopic stage show features a stellar setlist, covering Enslaved‘s career, both past and present.
Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene’s indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasillin the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-albumHordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-lengthVikingligr Veldiarriving in the spring of 1994.
Enslaved in 2022 area band in stellar form – a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through – a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.
Finnish melodic death metal masters INSOMNIUM have announced the cancellation of their upcoming European Tour with OMNIUM GATHERUM, which was supposed to start on November 26th this year.
The band states:
Dear Fans,
We were looking forward to hitting the road again next month together with our brother in OG. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, we are forced to cancel the tour and take a break for a couple of months to re-group. We were excited to be back on stage but this will take a little longer than expected.
We can’t wait to see you again next year.
Love,
Insomnium

Frontman Niilo Sevänen about “The Wanderer”:
“’The Wanderer’ is the fourth and final song on our ‘Argent Moon’ EP. Composition by Markus Vanhala and lyrics by yours truly. Our goal on this EP was to try a bit different kind of songs and in this sense I believe ‘The Wanderer’ excels. I don’t think it really resembles any other song we have done before, yet it still sounds like Insomnium. The video was shot on Suomenlinna fortress island in Helsinki.”
You can watch the videos to the previously released singles here:
The “Argent Moon” EP is available as Ltd. CD Digipak, LP+CD and as digital album. All physical formats can be ordered HERE as of now.
