HELLOWEEN, W.A.S.P., ALL THAT REMAINS, TANKARD Added To Graspop Metal Meeting Lineup

Graspop Metal Meeting has issued the following update:

The lineup for this summer’s edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting (28-29-30 June 2013) is really shaping up now with the addition of another seven bands. The newcomers are Helloween, W.A.S.P., Prong, All That Remains, Tankard, Newsted and Love And Death.

A small change to our day schedules: Heaven Shall Burn has been moved up from Saturday 29 June to Friday 28 June.

In September 2012, W.A.S.P. celebrated the 30th anniversary of their first ever show in LA by kicking off their ’30 Years of Thunder’ world tour, which will also bring them to Dessel this summer. The band around figurehead Blackie Lawless, now the only remaining founding member, was particularly successful in the early years. Thanks to their self-titled 1984 debut ‘W.A.S.P.’ and the hit single ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’, their career took off like a comet and despite numerous lineup changes the band never lost its drive and identity. The upcoming tour offers an overview of W.A.S.P.’s 30 years in the business and promises to be the greatest W.A.S.P. show ever.

For German metallers Helloween, the release of their brand-new studio ‘Straight Out of Hell’ was the perfect excuse to embark on yet another world tour, entitled ‘Hellish Rock Part II’. The new release is actually one of their top selling albums to date. Helloween has always been extremely popular in mainland Europe and Japan but they are also a crowd favourite at festivals worldwide because they know how to throw one hell of a metal party!

Metallica at Graspop Metal Meeting? Well, no, not this year but who knows? Still, Jason Newsted represents a big chunk of Metallica history and our loyal Graspoppers will be more than happy to get reacquainted. Jason has kept busy since his departure from the biggest band of the Big Four but now he’s back with a new project. The new band is simply called Newsted and their classic metal has that typical Jason touch so expect a pinch of doom, a dash of punk and, above all, raw Newsted vocals. The prodigal son is back so don’t miss it…

Some acts are simply larger than life. Whether it’s personnel changes, declining CD sales or a worldwide economic crisis, nothing gets in the way of true rockers and their calling. A fine example of this dying breed is Tommy Victor, the brains behind Prong. Prong first came to the fore in the late 80s with their excellent debut ‘Force Fed’. Successful bands like Korn and Nine Inch Nails still quote Prong as a major influence on their music. During the 90s, Prong became one of the top acts of the alternative scene.

Eight years ago, Brian ‘Head’ Welch left the American metal band Korn to dedicate himself to the Lord Jesus Christ. He’s kept a low profile ever since but now he’s back with a new project called Love and Death and GMM was quick to invite them over for an introduction. Former KORN Guitarist Talks LOVE AND DEATH In Video Interview

Former KORN guitarist and current LOVE AND DEATH frontman Brian “Head” Welch recently sat down with FEARnet to talk about his own solo work, and the possibility of teaming up with KORN once again in the near future. You can now watch the chat below.

LOVE AND DEATH‘s debut album, “Between Here & Lost”, sold around 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 95 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on January 22 via Tooth & Nail Records.

Recorded in Nashville with producer Jasen Rauch (RED, BREAKING BENJAMIN) and mixed by Paul Pavao, Ben Grosse (MARILYN MANSON, DISTURBED) and Jim Monti (KORN), “Between Here & Lost” consists of 11 tracks, ranging from songs about personal struggle and triumph (“Chemicals”, “My Disaster”, “Paralyzed”) to emotionally charged anthems (“Fading Away”, “Watching The Bottom Fall”) to a riff-heavy rendition of DEVO‘s 1980 hit “Whip It”.

LOVE AND DEATH is comprised of Welch, lead guitarist JR Bareis, bassist Michael Valentine, and drummer Dan Johnson.

Like the album title suggests, “Between Here & Lost” captures the honesty of light and darkness, beauty and tragedy, good and evil, delivered by a band with intense passion and commitment to the message of its music.

“This record was birthed from trials, tribulations, pain, suffering, anxiety, depression, and drama,” stated Welch. “However, we came out on top and the end result is a very real, raw and honest record. We are so stoked for people to hear it! From our opening song, ‘The Abandoning’, to our cover of DEVO‘s ‘Whip it’, to our collaboration with Mattie Montgomery from FOR TODAY on ‘I W8 4 U’, It’s an exciting piece of art and the listener will feel the different range of emotions with the lyrics and melodies of each song.”

LOVE AND DEATH formed when Welch decided to have open auditions on YouTube in 2009. “I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix,” says Welch. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a few lineup changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of LOVE AND DEATH.”

Trendsetter Marketing has issued that the Tooth & Nail recording artists, LOVE AND DEATH, have released a new music video for their single “The Abandoning”, check it out below. This track can be found on their just released record Between Here and Lost, available for purchase on iTunes now. A new band spearheaded by former Korn guitarist “Head” Welch, LOVE AND DEATH offer up the kind of guttural, alt-metal Welch helped pioneer, drawing upon the emotional journey that led him to leave his wildly successful main gig, to focus on his faith and fatherhood.

LOVE AND DEATH will be hitting the road in late February to promote the new record along with TFK, and a full list of tour dates can be found here.
