Marilyn Manson will guest star in season six of the Showtime hit TV show “Californication”. The controversial rocker will appear as himself, and in the episode will have what is described as an “unforgettable meeting” with David Duchovny‘s character Hank Moody.
“Californication” is an American dramedy television series that centers on novelist Hank Moody, who moves to California and suffers from writer’s block, which complicates his relationships with his longtime girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone) and daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin). The show has been nominated for and has won several awards, including winning one Emmy Award (nominated for two others) and one Golden Globe Award (nominated for three others).
As previously reported, Marilyn Manson has the lead role in a short film called “Wrong Cops”, which premiered last month as part of the festivities at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The movie was directed by Quentin Dupieux, whose full-length 2011 feature “Rubber” was a surreal tale about an intelligent tire that murders people. His latest movie, “Wrong”, debuted last January at the Sundance Film Festival.
Manson, who recently performed with actor Johnny Depp at the Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles, told The Pulse Of Radio about his part in “Wrong Cops” and other upcoming projects, “I play a street hustler with braces on my teeth, which was an interesting, fun experience (laughs). I’m working on something with Johnny. Working on something with my friend Eli Roth also. And I’m basically just on a roll of having a good time at being bad and I just want to continue doing it.”
Manson has previously had roles in movies such as “Jawbreaker” — with then-fiancée Rose McGowan — “Party Monster” and “Lost Highway”.
Manson and Depp recently teamed up to record a new version of Carly Simon‘s classic song “You’re So Vain”. The track was included on Manson‘s upcoming album “Born Villain”, which came out on May 1.

Marilyn Manson give us Born Villain it is the bands eighth full-length studio album. It was released on May 1, 2012 by Cooking Vinyl Records and Manson’s own vanity label Hell, Interviews with the band’s frontman described that the record would be in a heavier tone than that of previous works, describing the sound as a “suicide death metal” style.
When I heard that Marilyn Manson was bringing a new album I just thought oh no if it is going to be like the last three he made I am not going to enjoy it. But I must admit this album is probably his best work since The Golden Age of Grotesque album in (2003) from the start of the album it was typical old style Manson you can tell just by his vocals that he is enjoying his music again. The first song is Hey Cruel World it is full of well-done lyrics, great riffs and keyboards it is typical Manson in your face music that shocks the world.
The next three songs are No Reflection, Pistol Whipped and Overneath The Path Of Misery. All these songs are very good but my favourite out of these three has to be Pistol Whipped it is also my favourite off the whole album it really takes me back when Manson was at his best. The fifth song is Slo-mo-tion it starts off with a good bass run which is then followed by the drums, guitar and keyboards then Manson’s vocals come with the same panache as he always does. It is another good well-done song.
The next Four songs are The Gardener, The Flowers Of Evil, Children Of Cain and Disengaged all these songs are very well done again just as you would expect from Manson it has great riffs, cool keyboards and well put over vocals. The Tenth song on the album is Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms starts off with a great heavy riff then the vocals come in and the tempo goes down a notch but keeping the heavy riff going. This is a really good song the way Manson is putting him self over in this what he used to do back in the day. The next three songs are Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day, Born Villain and Breaking The Same Old Ground these songs have more of the same good vocals, heavy riffs and good keyboard work in them that any Manson fan would be happy with. The last song and this is a Bonus song on some editions of the album which is You’re So Vain which is a Carly Simon cover it also has Johnny Depp featuring on lead guitar and on drums. In typical fashion Manson has stamp his own style on this and it really works well. Just like some of his other covers that he has it has been done very well I can see this being on a film soundtrack somewhere in the near future.
Overall
This has been a bit of fresh air from the Manson camp it is definitely been the best album that he has brought out since The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003). If you are a Marilyn Manson fan you will hopefully be very pleased with what he has produced here.

In a brand new interview with NME TV, Marilyn Manson reflects on his “intimacy” issues, why he’s not the suicidal type, and why he deserves a Grammy for having been blamed for so many high-school shootings. Watch the chat in two parts below.

In a recent interview with the India-based web site Tehelka, drummer Chris Adler of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD was asked for his thoughts on LAMB OF GOD vocalist Randy Blythecomment that the music industry is dying because Marilyn Manson‘s new album sold “only” 38,000 copies in its first week of release and still managed to land at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart.
“Randy and I don’t always agree,” Chris was quoted as saying. “According to me, Manson‘s career finished a long time ago.”
Earlier today (Sunday, May 20), Adler released the following statement/clarification to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
“We are preparing to leave for our show in Bangalore, India this week. Very exciting for us. In preparation, we have been doing a lot of interviews for publications in India.
“In a recent interview, I was asked what I thought of Randy‘s comments about the record industry dying based on a sales number achieved by Marilyn Manson. My response was paraphrased, likely due to it being transcribed by hand during the interview. There were also some language issues that created a few misquotes here and there.
“My full response was: ‘Randy and I don’t see eye to eye on everything. I agree that the commerce of the music industry is in a rough spot, but I personally wouldn’t look to Marilyn Manson as a barometer.”
“That’s it.
“‘Antichrist Superstar’ is, to this day, one hell of a record. I saw the tour and was blown away. Incredible stuff.
“I have no interest in publicly commenting on anyone’s career path or choices. Not my business. We are all in this to create art and keep food on the table. Good luck to us all.
Tehelka recently conducted an interview with drummer Chris Adler of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. Tehelka: Was starting out as a band in the ’90s harder than it is now? If so, why? What was it that worked for you?
Chris: Starting a band then was hard, but easier than it is now. The Internet was just beginning then and we were distributing all our music online. We would play anywhere we could — at house parties, functions, everything. That, I believe, is the key to success — to be able to get out and play. Our goal was not to make money; you can’t expect art to pay very well. We didn’t expect to be METALLICA. Things are different now and every kid who has a laptop can make music in his basement with high-quality sounds, live with his parents and pay bills. People have to try much harder now; every six minutes, there is a better-sounding band releasing a track.
Tehelka: A few days ago, [LAMB OF GOD] vocalist Randy Blythesaid the industry is dying because Marilyn Manson‘s new ablum opened at #10. What are your thoughts on that?
Chris: Randy and I don’t always agree. According to me, Manson‘s career finished a long time ago.
Tehelka: Tells us about your new album and what makes it different from the previous ones?
Chris: “Resolution” is a little different from our two previous albums. The songs are more progressive and dynamic. We have picked a lot from our earlier records, the ones before the two last ones. It is difficult to produce seven records that sound different without getting boring.
